Hi everyone,
I’d just like some advice on being a mum and having diabetes.
My son is 4 months old and I’ve managed to keep my blood sugar levels in range for the best amount of time, however it’s now getting to the point where my son needs CONSTANT stimulation otherwise he has a complete meltdown, which means I’m doing less for my diabetes and I also feel like I’m on the edge of diabetic burn out. To be honest I can’t be bothered to weigh my food or calculate carbs and insulin etc.
I guess I am also traumatised from a past episode of DKA where my ketones were 9 and I had to be resuscitated… my husband works 6 days a week at a job I can’t really contact him and I also have no family around. So what happens if I have an episode like that again? Or if I have an extreme low? I don’t want my partner to find me one day on the floor and my baby to be stressed and hungry if that ever did happen.
Has anyone got any advice.
Thank you.

Hello, I don't have an advice you might want to hear, but my advice is given you have no family nearby, your health plus a newborn, I would really really advise that your husband works less. I understand 100% money strain (I am sahm and no we aren't well off, my daughter got t1d so I have to look after her since she is under 2) but being your husband I would have been constantly worried about you and my child. So this is something to consider.
Another advice from a mum who been there, yes it is really hard when baby is so small, but trust me, it DOES get easier when they grow and are more independent. Every child is different, but don't let anyone scare you saying it's easy now and when they crawl and walk it is full on. Not my experience. It was insanely intense until baby girl started to walk 🫶🏽 It got so much easier.
Re your diabetes plan, maybe just pre plan meals? So u don't have to think about it on the day? I ratio her meals so I don't count much either.

A CGM might be worth looking into. It doesn't read ketones, but would alert you to highs and lows of your blood sugars.
I use a dexcom along with a YPSO pump, and the pump will automatically give me more or less insulin based on the blood sugar reading every 5 minutes. But there are different CGM and pumps out there, The YPSO pump is one of the better ones during pregnancy apparently (my diabetic nurse says) and thats what was available and given to me at the time. I can't comment on other pumps
Does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations for the best type of underwear to get to wear during c section recovery?

So I’m 34 weeks and baby has been measuring large (only his tummy) since 2 growth scans ago which is bringing him to the 98th percentile and currently guessed at 5.6lbs!
My first baby was born at 7.11lbs so they have said he is big for my gestation in comparison
I am in so much pain and have been in preterm labour since 29 weeks so the contractions have been awful but never any progression! And his movements have slowed right down despite positive CTG and scans showing he is okay
Has anyone had this with baby? Gestational test was negative and I have a blood sugar test on Saturday
I have a midwife appointment and I’m wondering about requesting induction at 37 weeks ( I had my last at 38 weeks and almost ended up in a C section as my pelvis was to narrow and be kept getting stuck) so I’m getting very anxious about trying to deliver an even bigger baby!!
Thankyou in advance

I have had my obstetrician appointment at 36+5 days to request my elective c section.
The consultant requested the surgery for the 1st October making me 38+5 days on the day of surgery. But she did caution that it may be between the 1st-8th depending on theatre availability.
How many people got honoured the date they requested, and how many requested a specific date and was given a different date?

I’m currently 33 weeks pregnant and I keep having pains in my back/side and it’s exactly like a cramp and it feels as if that part of my back seizes up and tightens and I can’t get rid of the pain, has anyone else had this and if so do you know how to get rid of it 😫 it’s been like this for over a week now, I can’t do anything without it getting triggered, I feel like it may be from the position baby girl is in but I feel so helpless I’m in pain literally everyday 🥲

The midwife told me to remove it on day 5. I had my c section Monday morning so does that mean today or tomorrow?
