My son is almost 3 and I feel like I did/didn’t do something. I go to classes, preschool, book readings with kids his age and every single place these kids (boys and girls) are so behaved and they listen and do the class or sit for story time. My son runs off, doesn’t care about the stories, songs, activities and cries if i try to get him to participate. I can’t help feeling i did something wrong. Did i not take him to enough classes or am i parenting wrong? How is it every other kid i see can do this but him??? His behavior is a reflection of me and it kills me I am setting him up to be behind his peers cus he won’t be learning the things they are right now. Do i stop the classes til he can participate or keep trying??

Hey friend, first of all, you are doing nothing wrong. You’re doing everything right! Your son has a brilliant mind and he’d rather be learning something new his way than sit and listen. If he isn’t interested, you don’t have to take him. It just isn’t something he’s into. My 4 year old is the same. She would rather talk to me about dinosaurs and astronomy over sitting down listening to a story or a song. My advice is just let him be him. I follow my daughters lead a lot of the time and we do activities she loves.

Mine is notorious for being a runner since he was little. Hes also more independent and doesnt give in the peer pressure. I see it as amazing adult traits to be shaped rather than buried. My mom friends helped chase him while their kids ate and I could finish eating. He still runs constantly but it isnt as dangerous as he stays near me when I tell him I must be able to see him. He is 4.5yo now. He never sat and sang along (he doesnt like kids singing) so we would go to the library, friends would do the story and we would play and I would wrangle him until they were done. We would go out to lunch after. I dont feed him until I get my food. I bring a bag of play dough/cutters, trains that attach, small Lego like blocks, crayons and paper. Also stickers and a notebook "sticker book"

Dads helping

My partner when he does help is an amazing dad.
However… there’s always been an issue with him helping me with our daughter. He has no initiative if I don’t tell him what to do he doesn’t do it. Or if don’t explain in great detail what needs doing it will be done wrong. For example if I say can you please put the clothes in the wash, he will literally put them in the washing machine and do nothing else.
Which I’ve shown him how to do uncountable times. Shock horror he’s only ever lived at his mums before moving in with me 3 years ago where his mum delivered meals and washing to his door. So as you can imagine it’s been a long 3 years trying to help him learn to cook clean and fend for himself. Which is mum had a lot to say about.

Back to the point, I will be standing struggling with our daughter who is 8 months old going through sleep regression she’s been in her own room a week isn’t having it at all just wants to sleep on me, even nap times have become contact naps again. And I will say can you please help me. And he will stand there and ask me what I want him to do. I don’t even know myself if I did know what would help her sleep id do it myself I just mean can I have 10 minutes to re coop.
I’m getting about 3 hours sleep a night. She doesn’t nap long in the day so I can’t make up for it then. I also need to keep on top of the house as when I don’t he threatens to get his mum to come clean it or get cleaners…

I honestly have such bad postpartum rage but only with him, I just hate him at the moment. Which I’ve told him, is his own fault for not supporting me at all. And all is he says is I work I work I work. Yes he does. 8-4. He’s home at 4:30 he’s also self employed and spends half his day sending me fucking TikTok’s. I was meant to stay off work for a year to enjoy time with our daughter as I struggled to conceive I don’t know if I can again but I’m honestly considering just going back to work now and trying to get my daughter in nursery a few days a week sooner so then it removes any excuses from him. Even the weekends I get no relief as all he says is she wants you. After trying to settle her for a minute. Of course she wants me I’m the default parent. But in order to keep my patience I’m sure as most mums do after an hour of continuous screaming I need 5 minutes to just stare at a wall re coop and go again. But no that is too much to ask.
I know I’m not the only one who’s experienced this so what on earth do you do.

Would You Punish a 3-Year-Old for Wetting the Bed?

My 3-year-old is potty trained during the day but recently wet the bed at night. We limit drinks before bed and make sure she uses the bathroom before bedtime. She doesn’t have accidents often, which is why I’m unsure how to handle it.

Would you discipline a 3-year-old for bedwetting, or do you treat it as a developmental accident? Looking for advice from parents who have gone through this. What worked for you my partner feels I should spank her out it don’t think that is appropriate and as I advocate for her wins and I just feel he is over doing it? HELP

Worried I'm going to lose CalFresh Benefits 😭

I had to reapply on the phone and the case worker asked who lives in the house and I said me, my son, my partner and his mom, but I tried to clarify that his mom isn't in our "household." We don't prepare or buy food with her, we rent a back room in her house from her. I'm scared we're going to lose our benefits because I said we live with her 😭 I left a message to the case worker after our phone meeting to clarify that she's not in our "household" and we don't share food, buy food, or cook with her. I'm so upset with myself. I need some reassurance of some kind.

How do you talk about periods?

My little girl is three and she will often follow me into the toilet so when I'm on my period she sees it and it's not something I hide from her and I know she's curious about what it is but I don't quite know how to address it...

Like we're very honest and open about things and we use the correct anatomical names for body parts etc and I want to be honest and open with her about this because it will happen to her one day... But I'm having a hard time understanding how to do it at the right level for her that will help her understand but also not scare her? Cause if I say "it's blood and it will happen one day to you to" - to a three year old surely that is absolutely terrifying 😂

Any tips?

Cleaning ?

When do y’all find time to clean ? My daughter is 6m sleep okayish during the night but doesn’t nap during the day for more than 5mins I have to be in her line of sight the whole time or she’ll freak and she’ll only play by herself for about 30mins before she wants me to hold her or play with her etc I’m drowning in household chores I’d ask my husband but he works two jobs and I feel bad asking him after he’s so tired how can I go about this ? I tried cleaning at night but she wakes up hearing me move around the house we have creaky woods floors smfhhh 😩
