It’s my baby girls first Christmas coming up and I don’t want her to have a chocolate advent calendar as I don’t think she will need chocolate everyday at 6mo but because my partner wants her to have one as it’s tradition I said we can meet in the middle and get her a toy one or something similar he then said that I was weird and controlling only because I don’t want her to have chocolate everyday he says it’s not a big deal and that it’s his child too I can’t make all the decisions

I think your being reasonable my daughters first christmas she was 9 months and i got her a toy advent calendar as i dont like my kids having too much junk food they get a bit chocolate and crisps with their lunch and i change it between sweet snacks with savoury and healthy snacks daily so they dont constantly want junk food. I understand his point it being his child also but its not controlling the fact youve tried to meet him in the middle and your looking for a middle ground if he gets her a chocolate advent calendar just give her it every now and again my partner bought my daughter one and she got her chocolate every couple of days (2-3 days) but id open the door and take the chocolate out but i preferred the toy one my sons first advent calendar was a large book one so every day he got a new book theres so many choices out there now she isnt gunna understand tradition at her age.

My daughter has never had a chocolate advent calendar and won’t have one this year. I don’t think it’s unreasonable. Her first Christmas we got her a Disney book one and last year she had a rubber duck one

My mum has bought a nativity Velcro advent calendar for my son that will be used every year. When he’s older he can have the standard chocolate calendar too but like… he’s too young to be eating chocolate and he’s certainly too young to understand.

Is he aware of your potential worries about sugar content, dental concerns, possibility of tummy upset and more?
Can you meet in the middle to give baby chocolate once or twice weekly?
Still buy the advent calendar. Either of you can have the chocolate on other days

We bought ours one and just ate the chocolate ourselves, zero need for them to have chocolate at 6 months IMO.

I understand both sides. As someone who's a sucker for tradition, I get really wanting one for her. But also agree she doesnt need chocolate every day. Could you do a non-chocolate one? Or get a chocolate one and you each take turns having chocolate, so shell have a chocolate once every 3 days? Just as a side note, I understand not wanting her to have chocolate everyday, but theyre also only small. I dont think it would do anything in terms of making her have a massive sweet tooth x

You could give her a tiny sliver of the chocolate if you're fine with that

We love the toy and book ones! I think the ELC do a baby one with the happy land chunky figures and a Christmas scene.
Though I’ve always bought one and just ate them myself 🤣

Accidentally pressed unreasonable and can't change it, but no, you're absolutely not being unreasonable. Pretty sure the NHS guidelines say to limit sugar until they are at least 2, giving her chocolate every day at 6 months is a very bad idea and will most likely give her tummy trouble. You've offered a compromise, if he won't meet you halfway then he's the one being unreasonable. You're her mother and what you say goes.

Absolutely not a toy one is so perfect. Chocolate and sugar under two isn't a good thing (no judgement) but there have just been studies connecting sugar under two to altziemers later in life. Plus tooth decay
A 6m old will only start weaning, it's not nutritious at all and for as long as you can hold off sugar do, they will have a lifetime of treats now is not the time!

yeah not unreasonable at all. i get tradition but like if she's 6 months, she's not going to understand the concept of an advent calendar 🤣🫣 plus chocolate/sweets are obviously not recommended at all before the age of 1 and even after that it's recommended to limit it! my baby was 3 months for her first christmas but she will be 15 months this christmas and i still won't be getting her one! she will have plenty of time for advent calendars when she's old enough to understand them lol

I didn’t let mine have chocolate until they were 1, but I also love a tradition - could you get one that you make yourself that you can then use every year and compromise in putting a tiny bit chocolate in like once a week?

I do my own one! Always have! I dont think your being unreasonable

At 6 months she will only just be trying foods, so I really wouldn't give her something so sugary.

I mean he can get one and eat the chocolate?

My kids are 4 and 6 and they still haven't had a chocolate advent calendar. Toys or books advent calendars are great. This year I'm getting my youngest a lego one.
Thank you all honestly I thought I was going crazy and started to doubt myself but you have all put my mind at ease thank you all ! 💗

6 months and eating chocolate?! Huh?!
So I’m currently at the hospital because I’m in labor and about to deliver my baby within the next hour and a half probably and none one’s here.
Well my mom’s on the way to me now but it’ll take a minute for her to come. As for my baby’s dad, nowhere in sight. I told him I was in the hospital and he said he wanted to be there when his son is born but where is he? Who knows.
Am I upset? Definitely. Am I surprised? No not really. I’m only irritated because I know he’s going to blame me for something like he always does and it’s going to be horrible.
But that’s not important, what’s important is that I get to see my baby boy soon with or without him. Sad to say but I can’t control how he reacts so I’m just gonna focus on me and baby.

My husband has gone away for the weekend on a buck’s which is in theory fine.
Our toddler is sick and sh slept poorly for 2 nights prior to his leaving - so badly I almost called in sick to work one day because I’ve had so little sleep. So my husband definitely knew she was sick. Went anyway. We also have 2 other daughters. (4 and 6)
I sent him a text to be like toddler vomited and has a small rash and he was like oh that sucks hope the weekend isn’t horrible for you! This pissed me off so much because he didn’t even pretend to care about her or my stress levels. I feel like if the roles were reversed he’d be pissed that I left him alone for a whole weekend with a sick child plus 2 others. He didn’t even do anything to help me get ready for the weekend (we don’t have groceries, I just had to push a heavy queen sized mattress into one of my daughter’s bedrooms on my own so we could all sleep together tonight.
He has also periodically picked fights with me about “not being supportive enough” I.e. pissy because I don’t act enough like his mummy. But then he’ll leave me with sick kids?
I get that we all are in need and deserving of breaks but I feel like he should have offered to come home (or not left in the first place). The longer I stew the more fucking annoyed I get.

Last week we went to a family funeral. It was a very sad day and I was trying to be supportive of my sister and brother in law as it was his mum. We were all in shock at the loss as she died on the same day as my mum (only five years later) and they held the funeral in the same place as my mums, to the day. It was an emotional day for everyone and during the wake my husband comes out with.. "I don't care if you're pregnant or not" infront of all our family. Nobody knows we are trying and I'm currently in the tww. We had a loss a few months ago which broke me and we agreed to try again one last time. I said it wasn't a nice thing to say and definitely not appropriate for the time and place.
Now I just think he wanted the sex rather than the baby. I am feeling like I'm pregnant and anxiously waiting to take the test. I feel exhausted physically and mentally. Now I also feel like my husband won't be happy to be having a second child as he's clearly stated he doesn't care. I've done all the housework this morning after a massive row about who does what around the house. I said that I'm not feeling up to doing the housework which sparked the row. I am genuinely feeling like shit.
Yes I work part time but I also work gruelling 10 hour shifts where my husband sits behind a desk. I painted as he asked on Wednesday and that's when I started feeling extremely tired and dizzy. He hasn't asked how I'm feeling today. Instead he started shouting about how he does enough. He does the school runs and food shopping, he also takes our son swimming on a Friday as I can't drive due to my health. If I am pregnant, it will be ingredibly high risk and I don't know if I will get the support from my husband that I will need. Maybe I am still reeling from what he said last week because it was rude af!

My child’s father is stressing me out! One minute he’s happy the next he’s having a complete bitch fit🤣 he blames me for his rap career not popping off the way he wanted. Says he gave me 2 kids and he has nothing to show for it. Granted when we met I was in school for music business I worked with KCamp and MoneyBagg Yo and Dolph all before they blew up when they were still establishing themselves I told him I could help him but then I moved from LA being in the club life back home to take care of my dad. Things got hard I wasn’t in the places I needed to be to make his dreams come true and money wasn’t there because we had bills. Covid happened and things really went down but I tried to help him when I had it but like he says my priorities changed…duh we were pregnant, had bills in the middle of a pandemic shit was hard for the world and we could never really gain our feet back under the music thing. Now that we are pregnant again he’s blaming me for his life not being where he wanted but I got what I wanted a family. I’m so tired to where I don’t care if he leaves me or not he don’t pay NO BILLS, he don’t help around the house, but he has a job and does whatever he wants with his money and our son and I are always last on his mind unless it’s a holiday or birthday. I needed to vent because I’m fed up and tired

What do you do with your toddler when you’re on deaths door kind of ill and they’re raring to go?! I have a day of solo parenting ahead of me and I’m not my best.
Any advice welcome!!
P.s. he will probably sit down and play/watch tv for approximately two minutes…he’s not one to relax!
