My GP want me to go on anti depressants for PPD but I’ve heard so many people say they make them feel worse/feel like zombies and I’m scared to even take them bc I’ve never heard anyone say their anti depressants even worked for them
Have they worked for any of you?

I was started on a low dose of sertraline and gradually increased over time. When I first started it, and when my dose changed, I personally got really drowsy, I could sleep for hours and that lasted a few weeks while my body adjusted. But everyone reacts differently, so you might not experience that at all.
It genuinely has helped me, though. Antidepressants can be a bit of trial and error because what works amazingly for one person might not suit another. If you’ve got some support around you while you’re adjusting to them, I’d say don’t be scared to give them a chance. And if the side effects are too much or you feel worse, you can always speak to your GP rather than just suffering through it. ❤️

They can work for some but it is trial and error. They're often best used in conjunction with talking therapies - see if theres a local pp charity you can also get linked in with x

I’ve been on sertraline for nearly 2 years and can honestly say it’s changed my life for the better in a big way. I know I was worried about starting them because lots of my friends had bad experiences but I’d just say you never know until you try and they do have lots of different types so if one doesn’t work don’t be afraid to try a different one! ❤️
Since then he’s been loosing it. It took taking away sex for him to care and understand how serious I am about the separation. Which only makes me understand more that the decision I’m making is right. I will make this short. We have had troubles since Jan. 2025 and I realized I really didn’t wanna fight for someone like him. Someone with his mindset. The point is I made all this very clear with repeated conversations. Many confrontations I did. All the vulnerable spills I made. I even got to the point I couldn’t get wet for sex anymore. I thought something was wrong with me. I was not enjoying sex how I use to enjoy sex. I don’t want him sexually and I can’t just fuc him because he wants. It’s not fair to me. I hate him for making me resent him this long/much. And now he realizes it because sex is not in the picture? That’s the type of person I’m dealing with. Did he ever care about a connect that wasn’t physical? He says I’m wrong for all this.

I joined this app to meet Mom friends with kids around the same age as my little one. I feel like I’m not getting anywhere. I’ve talked to some people but it seems like I put more effort into keeping the convos going and then I stop because the convo just dies. I’ve never had an easy time making friends basically my whole life. I don’t want that for my son. Is it just me or does anyone else have this problem too? I have just always felt like I don’t fit in anywhere.

One thing I hate is not having a best friend anymore. Yes, I have friends and family—my favorites, the people I love and appreciate—but I don’t have that one person anymore. That “you ride, I ride” kind of friendship. My ride-or-die.
The person I can call about anything, the one who knows me without me having to explain myself, the one who’s there through the good, the bad, and everything in between.
I’m grateful for the people I do have, but I’d be lying if I said I don’t miss having *my person*. There’s a certain kind of connection that you just can’t replace, and I really miss that. ❤️
