I need some advice/tips on handling anxiety during pregnancy. I’m 16 weeks, have had 2 private + 2 nhs scans - I have had nothing to indicate something is going wrong however I can’t help but worry constantly that something bad is going to happen!
I felt a flutter/movement yesterday, but not today, so naturally I am spiralling again.
I just want to know if this is normal? When I have mentioned it to the midwife she tells me anxiety is normal for first time pregnancies but I don’t know if worry to this level is concerning or not?
Thank you 🙏

Personally I would say a level of anxiety is normal but not to the point it’s affecting your everyday. If you feel that you need help and that’s it’s a constant then there’s absolutely no shame in asking and speaking with the midwives again or GP to discuss prenatal anxiety as this could be what you have
As for feeling flutters etc I wouldn’t worry too much. A lot of women can not feel anything for up to 20+ weeks. And it sounds like the scans you’ve had have given all the indications that everything is okay with baba
I completely get it though, naturally you’re going to worry and just want everything to be okay. Try to take it easy on yourself your body, emotions and hormones are going through a hell of a lot right now 🤍

Aww im sorry to hear your feeling so anxious. I had a silent miscarriage last year so this pregnancy i had a bit of anxiety mostly up until I started feeling that constant movement. And when I say constant I mean daily not at all moments of the day. It is totally normal I would say to feel like this impending doom. Ive had so many horrible dreams about miscarriages etc and its just a horrid feeling. Hopefully all your scans have given you some reassurance. I think it will get better for you once you feel those daily kicks because I could jave easily jad a scan every week from 7 weeks I would worry so much but now I feel him.move at his normal times and some random times too and its so reassuring. I really hope you start to feel a bit more relaxed. Xxx

It’s totally normal to feel super anxious! I was when I was earlier on! But like you said there’s nothing to indicate what is wrong but because your so early on and movements are very subtle and often don’t happen everyday it’s understandable.
I tried to get more scans just to reassurance so if that makes you more at ease no harm in going to scans frequently!
It’s just important to remember that nothing is wrong with baby and that it’s your first time doing this so take it easy on yourself, it’s not wrong to be more worried than excited sometimes! x

Possibly not much help but …
I was 42 so “high risk”
Didn’t feel a thing for 19 weeks
Didn’t have any early scans
I was a FTM also (and I’m a mental health professional)
Baby was absolutely wonderful
As hard as it is - try to focus on what’s going right

Hiiii! This is completely normal! Your body is going through a huge hormonal shift that can cause high levels of anxiety. But your feelings are completely valid!
Keep updating your provider with how your feeling and if your anxiety starts interfering with your daily life and your normal behavior starts to change, please let your provider know so you can get the help you need.
I think you're doing the right thing by going on here and getting validation from others who felt the same way you are. I personally developed prenatal/postpartum OCD and anxiety. And the best thing was to get support from other moms and resources from my community. Hope this helps!!

I bought a heart Doppler and would use it every time the baby was not moving much so I could just relax. She was always a wiggle worm then would go a day without wiggles and I would be so concerned. But using a Doppler to check at home really helped.
I had my first son at 39 weeks on the dot now I’m pregnant with my second I’ll be 39 weeks tomorrow I didn’t think it would be possible that I would be pregnant longer the second time round I’m so frustrated now as I keep telling myself any day now this happen to anyone else?😭

I've been told I'm overprotective and spoiling my baby. Has anyone else experienced this? How do you handle it and feel confident in your parenting choices?

I’m 4’11 and currently eating 1850 calories but all the calculators out there say I should be eating around 1600.
What was your caloric intake take in first trimester and if you don’t mind sharing height and weight too! Trying to just gauge if I’m really that far off

Has anyone else who previously had heavy cycles before having a baby or even not, struggled with an exceptionally heavy second period postpartum?
My first one was lighter than before having my little one and this second one is crazy! Super tampons are only lasting me 45 mins - hour.
I feel ok in myself but I wondered if anyone has had the same. Is this normal? I’m going to ask my GP Monday but I thought asking on here first would be helpful…
