Night time

I feel like i keep seeing posts about babies sleeping for 4/5 hours at night in a routine of waking up at 3am and then 7am etc and its making me paranoid 😆

My little one is 4.5 weeks and has zero routine at night, every night is totally different! He still hates the next to me crib, wants to sleep on mine or my husbands chest, ive tried to co sleep but he still doesn't love being laid flat on his back. Some nights it honestly feels like hes awake wanting to feed all night! (Im EBF)

Weve had a few good nights but overall its still minimal sleep 😴

My question is.. am I the only one?! And if so, when did it all start to change and get a little more routiney?

During the day we do contact naps (which honestly, I love!) But should I be trying to enforce more solo sleeping??

Thanks x

Hey!!

Don’t worry it gets better , I was in the same position as you, mine fed on the hour all night ! I felt like I was the only one and it was so exhausting!! Because he would also be on me all day.

And yes they don’t like to be put down , just so small still. All starts to change once your milk starts to regulate from 6-8 weeks. And then you will see longer stretches of sleep! It does get better and this is temporary!

Your baby still thinks he’s in the womb so wants to be held with your warmth and hearing the heartbeat. Soon your baby will sleep off you when he starts doing longer stretches of sleep.

This article was sent to me when I was in the same position as you and it helped me understand so sharing with you too see if it could help

Also it might not be hunger just sucking for comfort which is also okay , they are brand new to the world 🥲🥺 and you provide familiarity of the womb

My 5week old doesn’t like the next to me bed and wouldn’t go init so we got a mosses basset and she went init don’t no if it’s that little bit smaller to make her feel secure 🤷🏻‍♀️. Throughout the day she would sleep on me but as night she will go down in the basset.

I spent a few weeks with my little one asleep in his side facing me with his head on my arm, was the only way he'd sleep and then eventually he'd side sleep on the bed next to me and we've slowly progressed to the next to me🎉 you'll get there with it just keep at it!

Nearly 4 weeks and no routine at all, dhe doesnt tend to go longer than 1.5-2hrs in the night without asking for a feed and she is bottle fed!! I see others getting long stretches but we've never had more than 2.5hrs x

Partner won’t let me stop breastfeeding!! RANT

I love, love my baby! But I’m tired of breastfeeding. LO is currently 14 months+ with so many teeth coming in, and I’m ready to stop BF. I actually wanted to stop at 12 months, but my partner begged me to give her a bit more time. Now, at 14 months, he’s guilt-tripping me into continuing!

Last night, I tried not to do the usual night BF. LO was fussing, and I tried consoling her until she eventually fell asleep. But before that, my partner went on a rant, saying I didn’t discuss it with him first before deciding to stop, that I can’t just stop abruptly, and that I should let the baby stop when she’s ready.

It turned into an argument because I was trying to explain to him that she probably won’t stop if I don’t guide her to, and I’ll have to stop one day anyway, no??

He made me feel like such a bad mum, saying I don’t care about the child.

Bad day?

I’m wondering if any other moms have experienced something similar postpartum, because I’m having a bit of an off day mentally and could really use some perspective.

I’m about 2.5 weeks postpartum, and while I absolutely love my baby and feel incredibly grateful he’s here, postpartum has been much harder on me mentally than I expected.

The first couple of days I was extremely anxious about basically everything. I felt safest at home and found it really difficult to leave the house. Even getting to the driveway felt like a huge accomplishment. I’ve slowly been pushing myself to get out more, and there have been days where I feel like I’m making progress, but then I’ll have an “off” day and feel like I’m back at square one.

My anxiety can also feel very physical — faint, jittery, tingly, like I need to get somewhere safe. I’m also constantly worrying about the baby. Every change in his sleep, feeding, diapers, spit-up, noises, etc. can make my brain immediately jump to something being wrong, even though I know so much of this is normal newborn stuff.

On top of that, I’m incredibly sleep deprived. My husband is really trying to help, but I’m still doing most of the overnight wake-ups, and I’ve realized I’ve somehow convinced myself that his sleep is more important than mine. I’m starting to feel some resentment, which I feel guilty about because I know he’s trying.

And I think I’m also grieving my old life a little. I’m completely in love with my baby and wouldn’t trade him for anything, but I can also miss my freedom, my routine, my relationship, and the person I was before becoming a mom. I didn’t realize how big of an identity shift this would be.

I guess I’m just looking to hear from other moms who have been through this. Did you feel constantly anxious or afraid to leave the house? Did you have physical panic symptoms or constantly worry about your baby? Did you have good days followed by really hard ones?

When did you start feeling more like yourself again, and what actually helped?

Where would you put a toddler bed in this room?

This is what he has in his room so far. I’m having a hard time putting a bed in here in my mind but I’m willing to move things around.

Not sure I'm in love anymore

I am 13 weeks postpartum and I keep questioning whether I still love my husband or not. After I gave birth he was supportive but when we got home I started suffering with depression and he was so unsupportive! We've argued a lot, not as much now but I fear the damage is done, did anyone else experience anything simular and fall back in love?

I don’t have it in me anymore

My LO is the worst sleeper omg I literally can’t keep getting up middle of the night and rocking him. I genuinely feel like pulling my hair out. He doesn’t sleep in his next to me and doesn’t even sleep on the bed with me just wants to lay on my chest. I genuinely can’t anymore. I cant even leave him to sleep (with monitor on of course and have an evening to myself. Hes 11 weeks almost 3 months, I thought things were supposed to get better 😭😭😭😭
