I can't bare the clinginess😭

Please don't judge my choice of words but my baby is unbearable and is making me miserableand struggle to enjoy his company now. His neediness is driving both me and my husband into absolute misery. He will not stop whining and crying unless held. No exaggeration, he is just a whinge bag and I struggle so much now. Im dosed up on Ibuprofen every day because my shoulder is so sore, now my back is hurting too from compensating my posture. I cannot get anything done. And YES I BABY WEAR. But he is 8+kg now, and I can barely get anything done like that and I think at 7 months he shouldn't be carried all the time. He doesn't roll because he doesn't spend enough time on the floor. As soon as he's down he'll scream rather than play/ try. He's trying to sit up, but peobably because he is in a sitting position being held all day. If he's not held its the same in the bouncer, seat, high chair. Nothing helps. I worry his muscles won't develop properly because of this. The overwhelm in my head is unbearable. I feel trapped and miserable, and no I can't walk around in the pram all day either, I live in a tiny village. Has anyone's older child done this? Did they turn out clingy when older? Will this get better? Or am I stuck with a needy clingy child now? 😭😭😭 ps I have a 4 Yr old too so that makes it even harder.

my 4 year old went through a clingy phase at this age and my just turned 7 month old is doing it also. she is only 6kg so i cant moan but its normal. development wise they are currently learning you are different people abd you can leave just work slowly on a min or two on the floor and sit in front making eye contact and slowly increase x

Hello! Sorry to hear you’re struggling. 6-9 months ish is a huge developmental stage. Baby is becoming more aware of ā€˜object permanence’ so he’s realising you’re still there even if he isn’t close to you. He’s then wondering why you aren’t holding him or when you’re coming back to him. He’s not being difficult or manipulating you, you’re his safe space and that can be overwhelming sometimes but you’re his everything. It’s a stage and it will get better. Feb 26 baby is my third and I strongly believe babies can’t really be ā€˜clingy’ or ā€˜needy’ they just want to be close to you and feel safe. He won’t be like this forever. Set yourself realistic goals for the day, the house work can wait sometimes. For this moment you may just have to slow down a bit and be patient with him 😊

I think some babies are just clingy. Both my boys are clingy. But the way I see it, especially with boys is that one day they'll want their own space. So I cherish it as much as I can.

My 3 year old was exactly as you described. Constant whining if not held. Very clingy baby boy. Now he is so independent and wants no help from me and I barely get a hug or kiss. It will pass x

Firstly, you are doing great, especially when dealing with a child who wont allow you to put them down. You're a warrior for that if you ask me. Mine will let me put her down but screams bloody murder if i am more than 2 metres away and I get so frustrated with it. šŸ™„ Sometimes I just want to do the dishes with her in her high chair but nope. šŸ˜” I think it will pass. My mum said my brother was like that but eventually she just couldnt carry him anymore and the way she put it was 'he had to get over it'. 🫤 Maybe speak to the health visitor about ways to practice weaning him off the clinginess. I'm not sure what they will advise but they might have some helpful tips. I hope it gets better for you soon hun. ā¤ļø

i’m sorry you feel like this, have you thought about contacting a gp or health visitor? especially if you’ve experienced ppd before. i hated motherhood after my first, i couldnt do anything without him moaning, couldnt cook or clean (i remember once trying to stir something while bouncing him in a carrier; i love a carrier but you can’t do many things with them on), he’d be put down but he needed constant entertainment…i thought id ruined my life. in the end, i also got diagnosed with ppd and put on medication, it was around the same time he started rolling and crawling, and things got better (8/9 months). He’s 2 now and does play independently, but still likes us to play with him too. He’s not clingy, but he does still stop and ask us to pick him up when we’re out and about - which is usually because he’s feeling anxious or tired himself out. It will get better, but getting extra support from the gp/health visitor saved my relationship with him, can’t recommend it enough ā™„ļø

Report to nursery or not...?

My husband works with the husband of one of the staff members at nursery. My oldest child had just left and gone to school, youngest is still there.

My husband's college asked today how our eldest is getting on at school, my husband said he's doing really well and his college replied saying that's good my wife said he was a little shit at nursery....

It's left a bit of a bad taste in my mouth when he told me about it. I'm not sure whether to speak to the room leader about it, if I do whether to actually give the staff members name or not and just ask for them to have a general word with all staff...? Or just leave it as I'm assuming she knew her husband works with my husband and that they're friendly?

First day of childcare

My 10 month little girl has gone to a childminder for the first full day. I’m really struggling and miss her so much. Anyone else finding it difficult? Her first name was loads shorter than usual, she hasn’t taken a bottle and not had much for lunch. Were your babies the same?

Looking for some support! ā¤ļø

Is anyone weaning their babies?

My baby is showing all the signs and capable of holding her head up. I’m thinking of maybe just giving her some porridge of a morning. Would this be weird to just give her porridge for ā€˜breakfast’ whilst she’s not 6m as I feel because she’s not yet I don’t want to full wean.

To go to a wedding or not?

Advice needed, my husband and I went to a wedding this weekend. The whole experience was extremely stressful I think our 3 1/2 month old baby just got very very overstimulated and so spent most of the time crying and screaming and was very hard to settle. She also hates being in the car so the journey there and back was also very difficult. It was important that we went to the wedding though because it was my husband sisterā€˜s wedding, tomorrow we have another family wedding and I’m really undecided on whether to go or not there’s no overnight stay so it will just be for the day. It’s about two hours each way lots of family will be there. Part of me thinks I should just power through and she may be ok, also most of his family hasn’t met the baby yet. …Give it my best go because it would be nice to see everyone and maybe she’ll do well but my experience this weekend has suggested to me that it might be a really really stressful experience. I’m also concerned because I don’t know if there are any quiet spaces where I’ll be able to take her if she is getting overstimulated do you think I should go or not?
