Report to nursery or not...?

My husband works with the husband of one of the staff members at nursery. My oldest child had just left and gone to school, youngest is still there.

My husband's college asked today how our eldest is getting on at school, my husband said he's doing really well and his college replied saying that's good my wife said he was a little shit at nursery....

It's left a bit of a bad taste in my mouth when he told me about it. I'm not sure whether to speak to the room leader about it, if I do whether to actually give the staff members name or not and just ask for them to have a general word with all staff...? Or just leave it as I'm assuming she knew her husband works with my husband and that they're friendly?

Id let it go. Was it the nicest? No. But every kid has bad days and that's okay. Shes allowed to go home and complain about her job to her husband. And he probably only said something because guys don't really think about stuff like that. As long as she's not taking out her anger at work on the kids, I don't see the harm in her venting to her husband a bit.

I think it’s safe to assume that everyone goes home and vents about their work day, and I’m under no allusion that nursery staff and teachers say these sorts of things about children in the privacy of their own home. The problem here is nothing to do with the nursery, so I wouldn’t involve them, it’s to do with the husband not keeping things said in privacy private.

Not sure whether this makes much difference to the opinions but my husband has corrected me, it's not her husband it's her father-in-law that he works with... so not someone she lives with.

sorry to be off topic: Are you in the UK? If so, is college your word for colleague or coworker?
I mean no offense, just intrigued

I mean I work in hospitality and trust me we talk about certain members, customers etc….
She probably didn’t mean it in a mean way and probably didn’t use those specific words
I wouldn’t give it a second thought 💭

I'd let it go. They're entitled to an opinion

Let it go. Probably not the best thing to say, but adults often cope in inappropriate ways. It wasnt said to the child and caused no harm. I wouldnt worry about it.

Childcare funding

Has anyone claimed for the funded hours under the impression that they would qualify but the not met the threshold? What happens? Do you just pay back the amount claimed or do you get fined/ in trouble?

I work in a supermarket and been there since May, they said they could only give me a 10hr contract but because I’m available 2 days a week they would give me more hours. When my daughter started at her childminder I asked to increase my contract to 16hrs and they said they don’t offer a contract for 16hrs but they said they would rotate me to 16hrs each week so I qualify and they have stuck to this.
My issue is when I take holiday I’m only paid at 10hrs and if they aren’t busy on my work days then they ask me to go home half an hour early as essentially I’m over my hours each week but 6hrs. Any advice? I spoke to the funded hours people and they were so rude and made me feel awful about myself.

Husband is furious…

He puts my daughter to sleep now cause she just wants to play when I try to. And I needed his car keys to get something from the car and they were in the room where he’s putting my daughter to sleep. So I texted him and he didn’t reply like he usually does so I thought they both might asleep so I opened the door and I ended up waking f her up as soon as she was about to finally fall asleep and ruined it… now he’s texting me saying how he’s furious and that I ruined everything and wasting even more of his time having to pay her back to sleep and he’s so angry… i admit I fucked up and should’ve just waited but is he overreacting??

Should I tell her something?

I suspect a friend of mine that I know for 5 years definitely has adhd and possibly autism. The thing is she doesn't realise how her reactions cause trouble and blames the other people all the time. I usually try to make her see things from the other side and offer suggestions, but she doesn't listen and it has to be how she says it should be.

Now that her child is growing up I see he has poor empathy, no social skills, is aggressive, hurts others, no risk aversion, no impulse control, no facial expressions and I can't avoid to think he may have autism and adhd. A year ago I brought it up once and she said no, no, he has plenty of friends and his milestones are fine.

I think she doesn't want to see or thinks autism and adhd look different.

I CREATED A VELCRO GORILLA GLUE BABY 😭😂

Listen… I really thought I was doing a great job making sure my daughter knows Mommy is always going to be there for her. 🥹🩷

I wanted her to feel safe. I wanted her to know that when she cries, Mommy comes. When she needs comfort, Mommy is there. When she wants cuddles, Mommy is basically on-call. 😂

WELL… SHE TOOK THAT INFORMATION VERY SERIOUSLY. 😭

I think I accidentally created a Velcro Gorilla Glue baby.

She can sleep peacefully on me like I’m a luxury mattress at the Ritz-Carlton… but the SECOND I try to put her in the bassinet:

👁️👄👁️
“EXCUSE ME… WHERE THE HELL ARE WE GOING?” 😂

Ma’am. I am literally two feet away. 😭

I can’t eat without her.
I can’t shower without her.
I can’t use the bathroom without her knowing my exact location. 😂
And apparently, putting her down for five minutes is considered abandonment in this household.

And the crazy part is… I LOVE IT. 🥹❤️

As a single mom, I want my daughter to grow up knowing that she has a safe place in me and that Mommy will always show up for her.

But respectfully…

MOMMY ALSO NEEDS TO EAT. 😂😭

So Velcro baby moms, PLEASE HELP ME. 😂

How do you keep giving your baby that security and attachment while also teaching them that it’s okay to be put down, sleep in their own space, and let Mommy walk away for a few minutes without acting like she has been abandoned on a deserted island? 😭😂

Because I want her to know “Mommy is always here.”

But I also need her to understand:

“Mommy is always here… just not physically attached to you every second.” 😂🩷

Signed,
A mom who apparently gave birth to her own emotional-support backpack. 😭😂
