Planned c section pre op tomorrow?

I’ve had it twice.. once emergency and then an elective

You will go into a room to wait for you to go down, they will gown you up and when it’s your time you’ll go into the operation theatre, sit on the bed they will do the epidural, you’ll lay down, they will put up the sheet so you can’t see and what will feel like a long time will be so quick, you’ll feel one push and then you’ll see your bundle of you raised up above you, they will wrap them up and bring them over for you to see.

I’ve experienced it twice and honestly I’ve always had such support from the drs and nurses and everyone made me feel so calm!

From what I remember you’ll go in, they’ll give you clothes to change into. You’ll sit on the operation table and insert an epidural, you can’t move while that happens.
Then you’ll lie down and they’ll check if the epidural has taking effect by taking a really cold piece of metal and drag it up your torso until you feel the cold. You’ll get compression socks, massaging ones, on your legs.

Once the operation starts the baby will be out in like 15 min and then it’ll be about 45 min to patch you up again.
They’ll out baby on your chest, also weigh and do a head circumference, clean LO up a bit and cut the umbilical cord. Give vitamin k shot, highly recommend.

We played music in the room, a nurse filmed everything for us too, which was great!

Pre op is 10 minutes.

It’s last bloods for cross match from the pathology team.

Swabs in the groin and pits to rule out MRSA.

Urine test.

General instructions for your arrival on the day.
