Hi everyone,
I’m looking for some advice regarding my 18-month-old’s sleep. I also have a 2-month-old baby, and since the baby arrived, my toddler’s sleep has become really difficult.
Before having the baby, my toddler was always rocked to sleep. However, once the baby arrived, he suddenly stopped liking being rocked and started falling asleep mainly in the car or pram for his naps.
At night, I’ve started lying down with him in bed, as we’ve always co-slept. I usually pat him or let him self-soothe while I’m there. The problem is that it can take at least an hour for him to fall asleep. He’ll often run around and play first before eventually settling into bed.
Naps are even more difficult. Even when he’s clearly exhausted, he won’t fall asleep in his bed with me. I usually have to take him out in the pram or drive him around in the car, and I’m finding it really difficult to keep this up — especially with a 2-month-old as well.
I’d really appreciate some advice on what to try.
* Would blackout blinds during the day make a significant difference?
* Should I stop co-sleeping and consider transitioning him to a floor bed?
* Is it too late to introduce some form of sleep training at 18 months?
* If not, what methods have worked for toddlers this age, particularly when they’ve always been co-sleepers?
* Or is this likely to be more about his routine/schedule rather than how he falls asleep?
I’m feeling quite overwhelmed and would love to hear from anyone who has been through something similar, especially with a new baby in the mix.
Thanks!!

I recommend sleep training, it’s hard at the start but so worth it. I used cio method. Make sure they’re fed, bun changed have some cuddles then straight into cot or toddler bed, door closed and left to cry until asleep. It maybe took a week for us, less crying every night and now as soon as put into bed she doesn’t cry at all just rolls over to sleep
With a new baby everyone’s sleep is crucial and you can’t spend forever spending hours rocking ect you’ll be incredibly drained. There’s lots of mixed opinions on sleep training but the baby is cared for and doesn’t need anything they’re just protesting against something they’re not used to. Sometimes be cruel to be kind

Keep routines, like same time naps everyday same bedtime routine too.
I don’t feel like I’m a good mum, I cannot stand my child clinging onto me/screaming I literally want to smack my head against a wall every time she makes that screeching noise I am seriously exhausted and I have no help whatsoever.

No hate for having a sleepy baby please my first was an awful sleeper so I know how triggering these posts can be 😂… but
My 2 week old slept for almost 6hours last night and we woke him even though he seemed pretty tired and would have slept longer. He’s been a sleepy baby since birth but feeds a lot throughout the day and has surpassed his birth weight but my husband woke me last night to say we need to wake the baby to feed. I said I’d get up and pump and let the baby sleep but he said we shouldn’t let him go over 6 hours without a feed….
Should we wake him? Thoughts below please :)

Im not enjoying my pregnancy in the first place and feeling exhausted everyday aswel cause my daughter is sleeping in our bed every night as she cries the moment i get near her cot 😢

My daughter is having the worst meltdowns recently. I’m talking to the point where people are starting to stop outside my house and looking in with concern. The anxiety and humiliation leaving the house sometimes is exhausting. Kicking and screaming at the top of her voice in public and having everyone in the street looking at me, is a different kind of embarrassment and guilt. I’ve had a few conversations recently with various people about seeing someone professional about mt daughter’s behaviour. She’s also started using noises and moans to gesture what she wants, coming from an incredibly smart 3 year old who has been speaking full sentences since she was two. We have regressed in verbal communication, and the meltdowns are getting so horrifically bad. She also tugs at her clothes when distressed or pulls on her fingers. There is absolutely ZERO reasoning with her when she is like this, it’s just constant screaming. I’m a first time mum and just at a complete loss.

I’m expecting in a few months time and want to breast feed (breast and bottle feed). What bottles do you recommend? I formula fed my first daughter and used Dr brown bottles (hated Tommee Tippee and MAM due to tongue tie issues). Is Philips Avent good or Lansinoh? Thank you ☺️
