Pooping in a potty

Last night while playing and having some nakey time without a nappy on my little girl who’s just turned 2 said “I want my potty” so I told her to go get it. She bought her potty into her bed room, sat down and went poop. I was shocked because she’s only been playing with the potty up-to now, she’s never done a wee in it and if anything she usually would get nervous whilst sitting on it as I think she was worried she wasn’t aloud to do a wee or poop despite my encouragement.

It’s has been sat in my bathroom for weeks not being looked it never mind used, so for her to actively go fetch it as she wanted a poop AND use it correctly, I’m shocked! 🤯

I gave her loads of praise, big smiles but she looked worried she’d done a “stinky” on the potty and was upset. Yet she’s the one who wanted to do it??? Im confused what to do about it. Personally I don’t think she’s ready to start potty training but the kid just independently took herself off to use it so perhaps I’m wrong?

How would you play these next steps? Or would you do nothing as it might have been just a one off?

That’s such a big step for her, well done! I think I’d start, I support families at our nursery through potty training and I’d definitely be saying to try and use it more frequently now or pay more attention to it to start and see if she is interested. It sounds like she knows exactly what’s it’s for! Then use whatever form of praise is best for her xx

I’d build potty time into our daily routine. So little blocks of time where she can sit there and you guys can do something “fun” together, like read a book, do some stickers etc. It will help her become familiar and comfortable with the potty and used to the idea of spending time on it daily. It’s great she’s done a poop on there already - it’s likely that her reaction to this was down to uncertainty over whether she’s done the right thing. You’ve basically told her she’s supposed to soil herself for 2 years, so starting to use the potty can be very confusing for them. It can also take time for them to get used to it, connect all the dots etc so don’t be disheartened if it doesn’t initially feel like you’re making progress, or even feels like it starts well but goes backwards. This is all very normal.

Potty training doesn’t have to be full on. You can ease into it, find some books on the subject too and read them with her to help her prepare. Talk about it with her. It all helps.

Does she go to nursery? Could she have seen kids using it there? Her language 'stinky' suggests a potential negative association with poo which could lead to embarrassment. Maybe try using really positive language around poo in other contexts to normalise it? With my LB, we regularly see horse and dog poo when on walks and I used to like celebrate him for correctly identifying (and avoiding) it 😅 like he'd point it out and go 'neigh poo!' and I'd be like 'yeah that's a horse poo, well done!'. Appreciate this sounds super weird typing it out now 😅 I'd also be really explicit if I went to the toilet (which he always came with) that I was doing a poo and spoke about it really neutrally. Like 'yep, I'm doing a poo on the toilet'. No idea if this will help but just based on what you described it could be worth a shot x

Sugar free babies

Just out of interest, as I feel like In the minority among everyone I know (in fact I can safely say I’m the only one I know!) who isn’t giving my baby foods containing sugar and don’t plan on ever doing so until he’s at least way over 2. Is anyone with me? No judgement btw it’s just my personal stance

I need to vent cus I think I’m going to crash out 😂

My husband and I been together for 5 years , married for 1 1/2. When we first got together I went with him to a quince ( his cousins ) that’s where I met everyone ( his whole family etc ) . I got a long with his cousins.. this one girl that I assumed was his cousin came up to me complementing me whatever. Ig his cousins seen that n told me that my husband has something with her years ago and I was in shock because I’m like umm how come he didn’t tell me?? I told him about it and he told me that yes they did things ( sexually) but it was never nothing outside of that. I had my questions and he answered. Fast forward to now! She comes around because her parents are close to my in laws . I keep it respectful but I don’t go beyond that. She came to our baby shower which whatever but wtf?? I feel like she keeps it respectful too but she throws things at me. Like current words she says are specifically for me.. whatever I let it go. Anyways yesterday people came over to the house because there was a soccer game on . Her parents came but not her. It’s night and my husband and I are outside with her parents and my in laws. We are just talking giggling.. mind you his dad is drunk n he’s so dumb when he’s drunk. He was talking about something and he told her parents “ everyone knows my son had something good with your daughter , it ended and now he’s with Angelica , which is good cus she’s a good person “ and I’m like huh?? Something good? So I’m just there but I am heated and confused. I look at my husband in a weird way n he just puts his head down and I go inside. He follows me.. but I just told him I needed space. Am I wrong? Am I over exaggerating. I know that they did something sexual YEARS ago. But I asked him if they ever dated , went out with eachother or if he liked her and he told me no that they barely talked and that he fucked her a couple times. That it was nothing outside of that. He told me when I first found out when I had my questions. So he lied to me. Because obviously it was something if his parents knew about it.. I’m upset because why didn’t he tell me? Why did he lie about it?? Why did his dad do that ? I feel dumb because she comes to all our parties and talks to him n everything. This morning he brought it up and told me that it shouldn’t bother me because it was years ago. I’m upset. So upset. To the point where I’m going to give him the same energy back. Someone help

Pausing potty training.

I am considering taking a break from potty training.
My son has chronic constipation and I think that needs to be fully resolved before we continue. We started training him 3 months ago and he's still having multiple accidents a day. It is causing a lot of stress. However, my worry is this will make things worse in the long run as he will get confused.
Just wondering if anyone else has taken a pause in potty training and why? Did it work out in the long run? Do you regret it or was it the right choice?

Tracker for child

There was a serious safeguarding incident at my childs school last week involving a 5 year old being taken by an adult without the parents awareness or consent.

My child has a school trip coming up and I'm really anxious about it. I was anxious before but now I really don't want my child going!

Can anyone recommend a tracker/gps type thing? I have android

Feeling like a terrible wife

My husband apparently hurt his leg while at work. He has been limping around for a few days. Now he says he can’t hardly move it. I’m feeling pretty upset because I can’t tell if it truly is as bad as he says or he is just using it as an excuse. I have taken care of the kids, the meals, the cleaning, all of it while he said I could take it easy and relax. All day he has been sleeping and not really doing much of anything. I’m frustrated because when I am sick or in pain I still have to take care of the kids and cook/clean but it seems like he just gets to do nothing. Am I being a bad wife?
