Night shifts

How are we doing night shifts with our partners?

My partner is back at work so I only wake him up for nappy changes (my back still kills me after c-section). I breastfeed and our little dude eats every 2-3 hours and then takes a while to settle again. I know if I passed him to my partner, it would just be another thing to wake baby up even more. And I feel bad because he’s back at work.
So I spend most of the night awake.
3 weeks PP, so my milk supply is still calibrating and bottles aren’t an option until 5 weeks or so.
I also really struggle with day time sleeping and with going to bed early, so the idea of him taking baby 7pm-1am and me doing 1am-7am would also cost me sleep.

I’m so tired, I’m absolutely losing it 😭

Hey girl, I also had a c section and we have a 3yo and taking sleeping shifts is the only way we’re getting any sleep, as I can’t get sleep through the day either. I also felt guilty for my partner working but please remember you are also doing a tough and demanding job with no breaks! Can definitely recommend it and we’re 5 weeks in.

Me and my partner are doing the exact same thing. Nearly 4 weeks pp, since day 1 he does the nappies at night & then I breastfeed & pump & wind her & settle her back down. She used to eat every 1-2 hours, now she’s more like 2-3 so it’s getting a bit easier. But I’m exactly like you, I cannottt go to bed early or nap in the day! No matter how tired I am, there’s no way I could try to sleep at like 8pm😆

I am also 3 weeks pp but my partner has not done any night shifts. He will take baby if I need a wee and they're unsettled but that's about it.
I just try to get to bed early (also have a 3 year old so it is when they're asleep) but baby often clustering at this time! And I do nap in the day on days my eldest is at preschool.
I think eventually you just get so tired that you can. Or just practicing maybe? I figured that even if I am lying down, it is still resting.
The other night baby didn't properly settle until 2am and then fed at 4.30 and then my eldest was up at 6.30, so after lunch I went to lie down on the bed and got 20 mins sleep before baby needed feeding again 🤣

Newborn visitors

Would you make someone wait a few days after flying on a plane before coming to see your newborn?

My reason being that planes are full of germ ridden strangers and I’m already going to be paranoid about germs with my baby being a winter born baby.

My mum implied that I’m being dramatic.

Opinions needed!

So my partner and I aren't that well off financially. We vave a 19 month old and I'm 30 weeks pregnant. We wanted to move to a 2 bed flat before baby comes but it seems we can't afford it comfortably.

Is it unrealistic to change our 1 bed flat to a 2 bed, where we'd change the front room slightly for my partner, me and the newborn to sleep so that my toddler can have his own room. I'm also weary of my son having to get used to being in his own room before baby comes, so us staying where we are would enable him time for that.

Or, do we push for another flat that's bigger and more expensive and scrape by?

What are your thoughts?

Pram wives tale

A family member has recently bought my pram for me. Is it too early to put it together and get it out the box?🙈 I’m 22 weeks and 3 days💙

What do I do?!

My four month old keeps rolling over onto his tummy while sleeping, it’s the first night but hes done it like 5 times since 8pm . What if he can’t breathe?? I’m so anxious, I feel like I won’t be sleeping till he’s over this ‘phase’

I’m so terrified.. what do I do? Help😭

Wearing baby sleeping bag

Hi guys, so as it's been summer I haven't needed to use a sleeping bag for my son. Since it's getting colder now, I've started using it but am curious to know when do people put sleeping bags on their babies? I usually feed to sleep so I wait until he's sleepy then put him in his sleeping bag but then he wakes up again. I then have to feed him more before he dozes off again. Is there a better way of doing it that I haven't thought of?
