My 2 year old is currently under SALT & neuro-disability team. I also have a newborn.
The newborn seems to be triggering my toddler as she's loud - when she cries/laughs/coo's anything.
My toddler won't sit anywhere near the baby. She will cry everytime the baby makes a noise & everytime I pick her up/feed her.
Because she cannot verbalise why she's upset she'll just moan and whinge, she's always been such a happy kid but the baby seems to have really upset her.
I try get as much quality time with both as I can.
My toddler plays independently and is fine for abit but needs constant stimulation & I don't always have the time due to baby.
My toddler doesn't go to nursery due to concerns I have about local ones but goes to a playgroup once a week with my mum & eventually enjoys it, once she's gotten over the initial noise.
I am struggling as I am not getting 10 seconds to myself at all. My husband works everyday & I have limited support. I feel like i'm failing them both, as I can't split my time enough. I'm missing my toddler grow up but also missing my baby grow up.
I feel stuck & I am not always enjoying motherhood. This shit is so hard.
Any tips on how I can get my toddler to adapt to the baby? Or how I can cope? I've become the miserable snappy mum I swore i'd never become.
Love from a very overwhelmed mum x

So I have been in your shoes though also slightly different too. I had a 2y4mo and a newborn.
I don't have a neurodiverse child but can only imagine that it makes everything harder.
I am now 17, almost 18 months in and its been hard. I have become a shouty mum that I promised myself I would never be. I didnt have time to myself until probably my second eas around 14 months or so. I havent enjoyed my second as much as I enjoyed my first. But it does get better eventually. Its hard. And it seems like you are stuck and its endless but it does get better. I feel like I'm finally getting to the better bit.
I know your toddler cant verbalise but do you verbalise to toddler about baby. I used to use things like "baby is crying now because he needs his nappy changed, needs feeding, etc." I would also let baby lie in the bassinet and cry not for long but while I put toddler first and would say "baby its toddlers time a second. Once ive finished with toddler I will help you" it helped my daughter know that baby

Needed to wait sometimes too but also that baby needed help sometimes.
A few other ideas:
Do you think daughter my wear headphones to help lower the noise?
Could you put baby in a bedroom with a monitor to sleep and spend time with toddler for a bit?
Have you got books about siblings to read?
Would she help getting you nappies or anything to help her feel involved?
Know that you might be doing some or none of these already so just ideas and also get that may not work with a nuerodiverse child. Hope they give you some ideas or help though.
Just know you arent a bad mum and arent failing them. I get that feeling. I have felt like that a lot these last 18 months and still do sometimes. X

Hiya, been there hun. We have a 4yr old non-verbal SEN son and 7month (nearly 8month) old daughter. Our son became really dysregulated when I was pregnant, clearly could sense the baby. 🤯 When she arrived he was so jealous and needy, always wanting attention, which he never did before. He would have meltdowns when we fed her and start demanding we put her down etc. He didnt want to be near her. All I can say is that it gets easier. He will now sit with her, hold her hand and push her pram. He knows now that when she is in our arms, it means we arent available. He still tries to push her out our arms on occasion if he wants something and we're not available but theres no meltdowns, he is just trying his luck and is easily redirected. It just takes time for them to adjust. You're doing your best, its not easy but it will get better. ❤️
i feel like i’m in a relationship that will never get better. pm for specific details bc it’s personal but i do 90% of the work for our son for nearly a year now and our relationship itself has suffered emotional and sexual standstill. i don’t know what to do.

I have 3 year old son and 10 months old daughter. Since I have my daughter something has changed in me. I’m always arguing with my partner, always angry and overstimulated. He works 8h a day 5 days a week, he comes home need to rest etc. I take care of both kids most of the time, I wake up at night when my daughter wakes up, I cook , clean and I do literally everything. Don’t get me wrong I’m stay at home mom so this is part of the things I need to do and I’m not moaning about this, but there’s something that just makes me sooo angry and overstimulated. He can rest whenever he wants cause I will always take the kids, when he was ill he could spend the day in bed but when I got ill I still have to run 24/7 and do everything, I can’t go to the shop alone always have to take one kid with me I don’t remember when I had at least few hours off my duty and I feel like even when my partner is working he should help me more at home at least by supporting me mentally. I’ve been really angry and always snapping at him, yesterday he came back home and we were arguing and today same. He said he’s got enough that all I do is shouting and moaning. I feel like he doesn’t understand me anymore and we’re just two different people in parenthood. I really don’t know what to do. He always just says he’s doing everything for our family (we moved to my country and he’s always calling it a sacrifice from his side). I’m just so tired from all of it. On his days off his never up to do anything with me and kids such as going out for a walk etc. it makes me so tired cause I want to give my kids memories and not just sit at home with us all the time but to actually do some fun things and I feel like it’s always me pushing for it. I really feel like not myself lately, my body changed, I don’t want intimacy with my partner cause I’m just sooo tired and he doesn’t understand it. But I think my tiredness is more like mental tiredness instead of physical. Am I being stupid? Sometimes I really dont want to argue but I’m so annoyed that I start arguing🤷‍♀️I don’t know how to get myself back to be normal. I love my life with kids and I feel super good to be a mom but it’s just the thing with my partner that makes me tired.

Any parents planning to home school their little one instead of public school
I'm thinking of doing so as I feel my little one does so well with 121 support.
