My 24 month old has been getting increasingly more clingy and anxious around children and unfamiliar adults. Its at the point where as soon as we drive into the parking area of playgroup he starts melting down. no other child seems to react like this...they may be shy at first but will enjoy after a bit. He has become worse and worse and now even if I force him to go he sits and cries into my neck for the hour.
I keep being told to push him into nursery and eventually he'll get better. My mama heart just cannot do it and it's causing both if us significant distress. Even my partner says he just needs to go and he'll get used to it like other kids. The issue is...i don't think we can measure him by other kids...ive never seen such clinging in any other toddler. Is this my fault because I haven't pushed him? I do come from a very anxious family, enough to believe it may be genetic. I honestly don't know what to do...

Children are their own unique little people with their own temperaments. You absolutely go child-led. There's no pushing them in to things, if they aren't ready.
My son didn't sleep until he was five and wake up worried if I wasn't there. No amount of pushing him into sleeping through the night was possible. He slept when he was ready to.
Keep providing a safe, healthy attachment and when he is ready he will gain his confidence.
If you want to try nursey, it will be difficult, but it won't push him, it'll probably be a lot harder before it gets better.
Trust your instincts mumma. You know your baby more than others opinions, ignore the unhelpful ones! (Maybe not you're partner but do try and get him on the same page)

Some kids are more outgoing then others and some arnt. Just because somethings come easy to one kid doesn't mean its easy for the next. Your not doing anything wrong your his comfort your his mum. He is eventually going to have to face uncomfortable situations and face the public because thats life. Do you leave him in the care of other people much without you being there ? Xx

He needs to spend more time away from you, you can start gradually.
I see a lot of posts online about baby clearing their plate and while my little one does eat he does not clear his plate. After four /five spoons he is very fussy and refuses - some days we are lucky to get 2 spoons worth .
Just wondering if this is just my baby ?

There is a family well known in our village for drinking from 10.30am, horrible language to their kids and each other, potential violence and the father is in and out of prison. They have 4 girls and a boy.
My daughter has been in their youngest daughterās class since she started school and has recently been in a split year class which has 2 daughters in. My daughter is forming a bit of an attachment to the older girl this year and they keep asking to do play dates. Iāve been warned by their next door neighbours not to get involved and from the info Iāve heard, I donāt want my daughter to be at their house (she is 5). There have been incidents of the girls physically fighting each other and other kids they play with.
How do I deter the friendship outside of school ie tell my daughter she canāt do play dates not that they canāt be friends..
I also donāt want it to get back to the parents due to the potential physical repercussions..

Just looking for anyone who is in the same boat ā¤ļø
My 5-week-old little man definitely gave me false hope with how chilled he was for the first couple of weeks! š The past two weeks, though, he has really struggled with the whole āknowing how to beā thing. He has mild reflux and on-and-off episodes of bringing his milk back up, particularly during the night.
But now the witching hour seems to have turned into a witching 3 hours from the afternoon onwards! He goes into a full-on temper cry and nothing seems to console him. I can usually tell when his cries are because heās uncomfortable or in pain, but sometimes he just goes from 0ā100 and becomes completely inconsolable until he gets his bottle.
He wants feeding pretty much every hour, fights sleep during the day and is waking every couple of hours through the night. š©
Please tell me this gets easier? š„ŗ
Iām a solo mum and live in a small flat, and honestly, Iāve found these episodes really hard to manage on my own. Iāve pretty much moved in with my parents recently, and they have been an absolute godsend. They both work full-time and are tired themselves, but theyāve given me so much help and support.
Iām trying really hard not to feel like a burden or guilty for needing them, or for struggling to navigate my own space and manage this whole new adventure on my own.
I know Iām doing my best, but some days it just feels really, really hard. ā¤ļø
If anyone has been through this around 4ā6 weeks, please tell me it gets better!

Does this all look right to you? We know itās there listed for us but it just doesnāt make sense! Our son goes to nursery 4 days a week from 9am - 4.30pm and we have the funding which I thought was 30 hours a week. Thanks!

This might cause problems. But I am sick of expressing an opinion that is DIFFERENT and it causing a witch hunt.
This app is supposed to be for support, expressing opinions and seeking advice and friendship.
Honestly, i just feel like telling someone to "come at me bro".
I didn't supervise all my daughter's naps and sleeps... light the torches
I don't use float vests etc for swimming lessons. I use rings when not doing swimming lessons... form a mob
I don't always cook fresh... tie the noose
I let my daughter play in the mud... STRING ME UP!!!
I raise my daughter the way I see fit she is not neglected or abused. She eats most things I give her. She is a happy and loved little girl. She is also the picture of health!!
She has slept in her own room since she was 5 months old.
We've practically stopped breastfeeding.
If you do not like my opinion or the way I do things... MOVE ALONG!! Or ask me why! I will happily answer. But for god sake, STOP THE WITCH HUNT!!!
