How is everyone finding their siblings coping with the change? Its only been 6 days and my daughter is getting somewhat better with the crying and shes definitely doing so much better with understanding why hes crying. I do always tell her why hes crying etc but sometimes when he cries she’ll purposely cry even though im with her or helping her etc and it just feels like theres so much then going on. I feel so bad for being snappy and telling her to stop doing it because i can genuinely tell the difference in the cries she does but is anyone else experiencing this? Shes fine with me and her dad holding him etc but she HATES my mum holding him. On a positive its made her speak more🤣

Its so so hard! Its been two weeks for us and things are finally getting better. At the start I had NO patience from feeling so awful after birth it was a nightmare, and then I would cry with guilt, and absolute rollercoaster. Toddlers are so demanding and running on fumes makes it so hard, everybody needs us! No advice except to try and keep some normality if possible, give yourself grace and just live day to day until the dust settles x

It is really challenging! My toddler is really enthusiastic about her baby brother and can get a bit rough with him. And when her dad isn't around and I'm the only limited parent resource, she gets really demanding. Add on top of that the normal two-year-old emotional rollercoaster! Crying when baby is crying is so overwhelming 😞 All I can hope is that things get easier!

Our boy is 2y5m and we have a 5 days old girl. I think in general he's been very loving towards her and very excited, like he will go up to her and want to hold her and stroke her (and sometimes poke her eyes as you do). But we definitely had a problem with her crying, as my boy would just start crying too.. it is definitely getting better, yesterday he did actually tried to comfort her instead. We are doing the same thing, telling him why she's crying and that helped massively. Yesterday he also tried to get my breast out saying that he's a baby and he wants booby 🤭 the thing is he hasn't even been breast fed for long, only couple of months because I really struggled with supply, so I don't think he even remembers 😂😂

I have been really surprised by how well my 2 year old has been coping. When I got back from hospital after 4 days away he was grumpy with me and didn’t want to greet or cuddle me. But when he saw his sister it was like all was forgiven and he understood. I haven’t been able to lift him post C-section so haven’t had both children alone yet. I suppose that will be the next challenge as so far he has had his dad or a grandparent who is able to keep him centre of their attention whilst I care for the baby.
My 9mo sleeps from 7pm until 5:30 am ?
How can I get him to sleep in a little later until 6:30 !
Also regarding naps during the day are we capping those naps and waking them up or letting them sleep for however long they need it ?

Does anyone else absolutely hate the newborn stage? So many of my friends love to borrow him for "newborn snuggles" or whatever but I just can't bring myself to care and just leave him to sleep in his crib as much as possible. I just feel so disconnected from my baby... and in hindsight, I had this with my first 2 as well - I keep them alive but wouldn't say I truly bond with them until 6 months+...
Has anyone else experienced this? I feel like I can't openly talk about it with friends/family without serious judgement though I finally admitted it to my husband last night - I don't think I ever admitted it (even to myself) with my first 2. Is something wrong with me?

I gave birth to my first kiddo a week ago today and all the doctors and nurses keep asking if I’m breast feeding and seeming… disappointed? Concerned? When I say that I mainly pump and bottle feed and then recommend a lactation specialist. We used formula the first couple of days at the hospital, but I now pump enough milk to keep up with feedings.
My baby just doesn’t always latch and gets frantic when he can’t latch and then it all goes downhill from there so we typically stick to bottles. He does latch maybe once or twice a day when he just won’t accept a bottle nipple or to comfort feed, but it’s easier for us to bottle feed. Should I be trying the breast first?

Formula fed 9 week old here. I got the impression that I was waking my LO up to feed when she was just wriggling a bit and not actually awake and hungry. So tonight I monitored her and indeed she just slept. Her last full feed was at 21:00 (she had a 40ml snack at 23:00) and I got so anxious that I woke her up at 5:30 as she still hadnt woken. She only had 70ml lol so I guess she just wanted to be left?
Any advice or experience? 🙏
