Colostrum

I bought a kit on Amazon where you get small sterilecups and I hand express colostrum into those and then syringe it out :) I’m a FTM so am not certain but was advised not to pump it out as you can get bad engorgement just before your milk comes in. If you feel you’re not getting enough out, try a nice bath or warm compress before you start.

Squeeze around the areola as gently as possible. If nothing comes out one breast go to the other. Express in a sterilised cup and collect afterwards. Every little drop makes a mighty ocean .x

I can’t even get anything out so you are doing well if something is coming!

Personally I’ve been using the haakaa pump, it’s made such a difference. Before this I was just hand-expressing, and my partner was trying to catch the tiny drips straight in the syringe.
With the haakaa I use a hot water bottle on each side for 10 mins and lightly massage. Then I use the haakaa for just 4 mins each side (you shouldn’t use it for longer as it can cause contractions apparently and breast pain, so I’m going easy). I’m still only collecting small amounts but it was so much easier and I could syringe the colostrum straight from the haakaa.
I’m also 38+6 so I don’t mind if it starts early labour 😅 Appreciate this method may not work for everyone.
