Weaning- start with sweet or savoury?

Just want different views! I understand the idea of starting with veg is because babies have a natural preference for sweet so it can be beneficial starting with veg as they don’t know any different. However, I can imagine that mums start their babies on something sweet like banana or sweet potato or even creamy like baby porridge as it’s things they will likely enjoy and therefore they would start on a positive note and associate food time with positive experience. So I can imagine starting with sweet can also be beneficial so that they actually learn to enjoy eating whereas starting with veg I feel they eat less and pull the funny faces. So I’m torn between the 2 and just wanted to know different mums views on this. Also, I’m planning to start on veg but then at what point do I introduce breakfast? I would like to offer porridge for example but only going to start with one meal a day so how am I supposed to offer veg and breakfast if that makes sense? Literally just starting as baby is 6 months and trying to think of a plan xx

I started with a few things at once, like pumpkin, avocado, and maybe smashed peas. They only know what you introduce, so I encourage trying to start with produce if you're not doing puree food.

We started our baby BLW on a strawberry, probably controversial but we were planning on doing avocado but it wasn’t ripe enough, and I was very anxious so I thought if I put it off any longer I’d make myself more worried! He’s now 13 months and everyone says how he’s such a good eater! Just do what you feel is right and what you have in the house already!
You can give porridge in the morning if that’s the meal you’d like to start with and when making dinner for yourself do a little extra veg for them to eat something with you ( them watching you eat and chew is very good for them as they copy you) that doesn’t mean and extra meal, it’s just them exploring a new flavour and texture by doing it like that☺️ we started with dinner just because my husband was home and we did the BLW approach so I just felt more comfortable having someone else there. Give your LO porridge an hour after their first bottle and then just some veg when you have dinner, don’t over complicate it-

Honestly hun u will know when your baby is ready for a second meal. I started weaning my baby girl about 5 months on melty puffs (veg flavored ones by Ella kitchen) with her normal bottles though the day, round 6 months I started her with one meal a day around 5-7 before her night time bottle at 8pm. She’s now on 2 meals a day from 8 months old (she’s now nearly 10 months old) her meals are at set times
Dinner 12-2
Tea time 5-7
I’ve tried everything with her from beef stew to sweet potatoes ect
She’s loves her fruit which isn’t a bad thing.
Anything we have to eat she wants.
I would also get egg into their diet early so they don’t come to the baby being allergic to it.
I’ve made home made carrot and sweet potato puree in the blender she likes that.
But she does have a fruit pudding every day for her dinner (by Ella’s kitchen)
Hope this helps.
Also if u think your baby isn’t full from a meal you’re not doing anything wrong it’s just them getting used to the new taste and textures

I really don’t think it matters as long as you consistently offer a variety… some foods you’ll have to offer over and over again before babies are even willing to taste it or eventually enjoy it. My breast milk is sweet so I assumed my daughter would have a preference for sweet tasting foods. She was EBF for the first 6 months and her first taste was pear. She enjoyed it then but won’t even look at pears now. First veggie was broccoli and she didn’t like it then but has loved it since about 9 months of age. I’ve given her whatever we’ve eaten (mostly savoury foods) since 7m and she enjoys homemade savoury lunches and dinners the most now. We avoided sugar for the first year apart from little licks of ice cream in the summer. Fruit is the trickiest for us, there’s a bunch she wont eat.
Also, I crushed plain oats for breakfast porridge from 6-7m.

We did most veggies, meat stock, bone broth, steak etc before introducing any fruit and honestly so worth it! She’s 18 months now and the biggest foodie, will eat anything and everything, has a great immune system and I believe our approach really helped give her gut the best start

I offered plain porridge first (baby porridge cause it’s smooth) then I did vegetables, one for a few days then a different one then mixed the two together and continued that with different veggies. She really liked them so I wasn’t worried and fruits have a lot more sugar in too. After I introduced fruit she stopped wanting to eat vegetables for about a month lol.
They’ll only eat a tiny bit to start so just enjoy the next few weeks before they start wanting to feed themselves haha xx

we started offering solids at 6 months, and didn’t offer fruit until 8/9 months. seemed to work because my 3.5yo loves veg and doesn’t have a fruit/sweets preference

I can’t apologize

Anytime my husband is angry at me , he uses words like fool, stupid, I regret marrying u etc . Even when I’m wrong I can’t apologize cos I get hurt and he in turn gets mad that I don’t take accountability. For context 90% of our Arguments is about the house being tidy.

Coincidence or Retaliation? My MIL Is the CEO and I Just Got Demoted

My MIL is a bitch😂 sorry, just had to start off with that. Okay, now that I got that out 😂 let me give y’all the backstory because I genuinely need to know if I’m being dramatic or if this is as fucked up as it feels.

My MIL is the CEO of the company I work for. My husband also works there, he’s a Coordinator, and I was working as an Administrative Assistant/Peer Support Specialist. My husband and his mom have not been on speaking terms since July. I’m not going to dump the entire family tree on y’all 😂. Just know things between them have been BAD. We were also supposed to go to Thailand with her, but because of the issues between her and my husband, that trip basically got taken away from us. She went without us and came back literally ONE DAY before our gender reveal. She was not invited.

Now, before anybody says, “Well, that’s her son’s mom, how could you not invite her?” there is a LOT more to that situation, and at this point, my husband and I decided we were not going to pretend everything was fine just because it was a family event. We did invite some of our coworkers, though. Fast forward to Tuesday. I get called in and told that I’m being demoted. The reason I was given?

Budget cuts.

Okay… sucks, but whatever. I’m trying to be an adult about it. I’m pregnant, I have bills, and obviously getting demoted is stressful, but if the company is cutting the budget, then I can at least understand that it’s a business decision.

Except…

My husband and like 7 other ppl at the company got promoted the same week!! And then I was supposed to work until Friday in the office, but she sends another coworker of mine to tell me that she wants me gone the same day so my co worker can move in my space. How unprofessional!! Eventually my husband talked to his mom, and suddenly there were apparently MULTIPLE reasons for my demotion that had nothing to do with budget cuts. She allegedly told him that I had said I couldn’t lift certain items because I’m pregnant. NEVER SAID THAT! She brought up paperwork that supposedly wasn’t turned in. NEVER DID THAT! And then there was a customer complaint over the phone. BUT WAS CONFIRMED TO NOT BE ME! It was another employee.

Honestly, the part that bothers me the most isn’t even the demotion itself. It’s the possibility that something personal happening between my husband and his mother could have crossed over into my job. Because if you don’t like your son right now, that’s between y’all. If you’re mad that your son’s wife didn’t invite you to her gender reveal, okay. But my paycheck??? LEAVE MY PAYCHECK OUT OF IT. 😂

Am I being petty

I swear I've woken up on the wrong side of the bed which doesn't help this scenario.
But am I being petty for being severely pissed off at my partner.
He puts the bottles on the steriliser. Didn't fill up or put the kettle on. Didn't fill the power pots ready.
Asked him to shut the blinds in my eldest room as you could see right in. Come back from shop they were still open.
Hasn't loaded in dishwasher in over a week.

I literally been feeling like a single mother these days. Like I know he is working more than usual but cumon he was already half prepping the bottles.

Potty training tips!!

We’ve been potty training our nearly 3 year old since the beginning of September and I honestly thought we would have been finished by now 😂

He’s fine with going in the house now but he will only go in his little potty that sits in the living room, he won’t go on the actual toilet. He goes himself most of the time but we do still have to ask him sometimes and I feel like he holds his wees in for hours sometimes. He’s is completely fine with poos though.

The problem is he’s naked from the waist down in the house. If we put anything on him he just thinks he can wee in it 😂 pants, trousers, pyjamas etc he just doesn’t seem to understand that he still needs to use the potty. He also doesn’t really care if he’s wet so I don’t know how to get him past that.

I’ve got no idea what to do when we go out either, I offer to take him to the toilet but he never goes so I just end up putting a nappy on him to go out for an easier life.

He starts nursery next week and I’m starting to panic a bit 😭 Has anyone else had a toddler like this and how did you get them to the next stage?

Any tips would be appreciated xx
