C section recovery

Is a wedge pillow and shower chair absolutely necessary post c section? Well it have a major impact on help? I’m running low on all these recovery things and things for the twins but if recovery is that painful i’d like to know and i’ll spend on it anyway 😭😭

I had an emergency c section so was not prepared at all for the recovery. Personally I don’t think I needed a shower chair but a wedge pillow would have been nice.

Pack some chewing gum for after the csection helps stimulate your stomach. The gas pain you can get after a csection is unreal.

I had a emergency c and wasn’t prepared at all whatsoever. I didn’t have anything but I 1000 percent recommend a wound vac! I healed soooo fast and diapers for me were so helpful too! Also I know it will be hard and painful but walk as much as you can tolerate and as soon as you can after. I healed so well that two weeks after the doctors couldn’t even tell I had a C-section! If you have any questions your more than welcome to message me

I had an unplanned c section and it let to other complications and a shower chair was definitely needed. It was very difficult for me to stand for long periods of time the first week home

I had a C-section didn’t have any of that except what the hospital gave me to go home and was completely fine. I definitely don’t think a shower chair would be necessary, having a newborn I didn’t even have enough time to be able to sit in the shower.

Had an emergency c section two and a half weeks ago, and didn’t feel I needed a shower chair at all. I took a shower the day I got home (3 days pp I think?) by myself but my husband sat in the bathroom incase I needed him. I think a wedge pillow could’ve been nice, but used a pregnancy pillow wedged behind me the first few days and that was fine. I’m a side sleeper/can’t sleep sitting up, so after a week or so, having my pregnancy pillow to hug against my stomach so I could sleep on my side was huge. I recommend asking the hospital for as many pads and liners as they can give you.. I didn’t have much bleeding after so I didn’t really need to buy extra after what they gave me.

I had an unexpected c section as well. I don’t think I would have wanted a seat for the shower because sitting up and down was a pain, but i did need to have my partner wash my legs for me cause I couldn’t bend over for the first couple weeks lol. And yeah I think the wedge pillow would have been a lifesaver. Getting in and out of bed was a slow painstaking process, even when I had someone helping me.

The spinal block also gave me horrible headaches, but the doctors recommended caffeine and it worked like a charm. (And oh boy did I miss my coffee lol).

I had a planned c-section. I got a pillow with "arms" to sit up, and if you have a tall bed get a step stool. My partner took showers with me because it was hard to wash my hair and body, but if I wasn't able to do that then I would've gotten a shower chair

I didn’t have anything special besides whatever the hospital gave me. I can see a wedge pillow having been supportive but I wouldn’t say it was necessary. That’s just my experience. I also was up moving around and going downstairs to go back to the hospital to see my baby in the NICU. So I wasn’t letting anything stop me 😅

I highly recommend good diapers. I never had a chair or a wedge pillow. But I did still use my pregnancy pillow.

But what’s a must is a stick to pick up things. A grabber? Not sure what it’s called. Like an absolute game changer. You can’t bend down at all. And you need to pick up things and it’s so frustrating. … something like this. You won’t regret it. Trust me. https://www.staples.com/unger-niftynabber-trigger-grip-32-grabber-nt080/product_2109476?cid=ps:gs:dot:nb:pla:fac&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=14026686365&gbraid=0AAAAACN4I7xoTT_dK5aJCynn3hHhXaJAa&gclid=Cj0KCQjw5vLVBhCiARIsAD56SFI_yhLFKbQ5t9Xt7AccV2mS2_DQl3DAyGzFUMbt-x-WDsY_Ky6IWi0aAo22EALw_wcB

No … I didn’t need any meds- was bending down in 6 days; back to work in 4 weeks, back to workouts in 6 weeks

Biggest piece of advice- take stool softner the week before… hardest part of my pregnancy was going to the bathroom again for the first time

I’ve had two sections and needed neither. I just had a week of meds, got out of bed easily on my side same as in pregnancy and wore normal pads. I didn’t find recovery painful really at all xxx

You're in luck that it's planned! I agree with most of the other comments about a chair being unnecessary (hard to get in and out of plus there's like no time to shower at the beginning lol). Mine was unplanned and had a bunch of complications after laboring so recovery sucked. I have a bed that raises (like a hospital bed) so I didn't need a wedge pillow but if I didn't have that then the pillow would be really useful. Also, I was hesitant about pain management as I was exclusively breast feeding but it is seriously worth it. And definitely prep food that won't give you gas afterwards 😆 nobody told me this since mine was unexpected and I craved a bean & cheese burrito as my first meal pp - literally the worst thing I could do, pain was as bad as labor.

All these comments about a speedy recovery give me hope as I'm scheduling a C-section for my current pregnancy. Good luck!!

6 week check post partum

I’m now 8 weeks 3 days post partum and my baby had her 6-8 week check today but I haven’t had any follow up check like I’ve heard other people have at 6 weeks… am I supposed to make the appointment myself? I last saw my midwife at around 5 days post partum and the health visitor last came out at around 6 weeks.

I thought that I’d have my check at the same time as my baby at the doctors but they only checked her so I’m not sure what to do.

Any other April mamas doing the half birthday?

This is our only baby we'll ever have, and I want to celebrate every little thing! He just did his first big boy roll today too 🥲.

I’m a little scared

So apparently my baby boy is definitely bigger than normal and I’m short. It’s recommended I do a C Section for the health of my baby and for me as well. I’m definitely going to go through with it bc it’s safer for the both of us but I’m honestly incredibly scared. I have mad respect for mothers who went through a C Section it’s a fear of mine to be awake while I’m being cut open. Anyone have any advice to prep or in general to ease anxiety at all.

Plus size scan!

Anyone else who is plus size worried about not being able to have a normal on the belly ultrasound or if you have had your scan how did they go about it if they couldn’t do it that way?
