Hi ladies - just want to ask if there's anyone here who Hasn't been offered a growth scan? Literally everyone I've chatted with on this app has had one or multiple growth scans. My last scan was the 20 weeks one and I haven't seen baby since 🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️ want to ask my midwife about this at the next appt but still, is it normal to not be offered one? For context, I'm 34 weeks. Thanks x

I wasn't! I also felt like everyone was having them too so we just decided to book a private one to see what's what, ended up finding out she's breech so then the NHS booked us another presentation scan for 36 weeks 😅😂 fingers crossed she turns but what will be will be 💗 I wouldn't worry though, it's not routine to have growth scans and normal to just have the 12 and 20 week scans ☺️

I have one next week I'm also 34 weeks but some people don't get offered another one I got told by my mum and my mil that i was verry lucky to have been given another scan

If it helps, I was told I was unlikely to receive any scans beyond the 20 week because my baby was right around 50% percentile. Our midwife at the time said they often check on the smaller ones or bigger ones more frequently. We ended up having another scan because we transferred care between countries, but I don't think we would have had we stayed.

I think it varies depending on which hospital trust you are under whether they offer a 36 week growth scan. My hospital offered it as standard at 36 weeks but i have a lot of friends who had babies in other hospitals / trusts who didn’t have a scan beyond 20 weeks (and some others who only did because they were high risk pregnancies).
I am 43 with my third and am having extra growth scans in addition to 36 weeks but that is definitely an age related thing.

I’d say it’s a good thing. I’ve had 3 growth scans at 28, 31 and 35 weeks, all for different reasons - protein in urine, reduced movements and then slow bump growth. Yes it’s nice to see them again but the reason behind them is a bit scary. I’d take it as positive that you’ve not had one and everything is ticking along okay. ❤️

Usually not having one means all is well and there are no concerns

Hi! From my understanding you only have on the NHS a 12 week week and a 20 week scan unless its deemed necessary to have further scans..so I tested positive for low pap A so ive had to have extra growth scans every 3 weeks from 28 weeks to ensure he's growing okay as it is linked with low birth weight etc. There are various reasons why someone may need the extra growth scans but general practice is just the 2 scans on the NHS.
I would take it as a good sign that youve not been offered more as like I say its generally to keep an extra eye as it means its a higher risk pregnancy xx

I’ve had multiple growth scans because I have a complex medical history, don’t believe I would have had any otherwise

I have literally just had a growth scan today. I have another one in 4 weeks time. Due to having a pregnancy with a low birth weight so all pregnancy i have had I get growth scans every 4 weeks from 32 weeks.

People who are offered extra scans in UK for growth is because the baby needs monitoring for slow or fast growth if baby was showing to small or big on the first scan or they've previously had a big or small baby

My first pregnancy i had loads of scans and appointments due to gestational diabetes but this time ive had none at all as i passed GD test! Midwife said as long as fundal measurements don’t go massively up or down on chart they won’t send me.

I was worried about this as it’s all I saw I haven’t been offered any until I was in with reduced movements but she was moving too much and heart rate spiking ( I couldn’t feel a thing due to anterior placenta ) I now have a growth scan on Monday but 100% feel you on that I also asked the same thing on a fb page the other day x

I haven't had a scan since 20 weeks, as there haven't been any concerns about babies growth or health, and I'm quite happy tbh. I had growth scans in my previous pregnancy and it just led to a cascade of unnecessary interventions. If I needed scans due to concerns about baby then that's fine but if there aren't any concerns then I wouldn't worry!

My baby was measuring on the 98th percentile at my last appointment and I havent been offered any other scans. I had my 34 week appointment this week and she didnt even measure me. It was a different midwife to my usual one, so maybe thats the reason. My first baby measured big and i went in for growth scans. I was induced 2 weeks early and he wasn't even big. My baby is also breech and they haven't offered any other scans yet.

I don’t have Any complications or growth restrictions. was offered a 3rd one at 34 weeks due being over 35 years old lol

I’ve had growth scans once a month but that’s only because I have gestational diabetes! X
Which one??

I had an emergency c section in 2024 and this year I’ve noticed something new that keeps happening and I don’t know if it’s linked to having a c section. I’ve noticed when I’m getting out the shower/bath and I’m bending forward to dry my legs and feet I get this random tight knot feeling in my stomach ( few inches above scar). It scares me but soon as I stand back straight it goes. Has anyone else experienced this?

So I’m currently 7 weeks and 1 day, I had a scan about a week ago so I would’ve been 6 weeks and 3 days, the crl was 7.0mm and there was possible cardiac activity detected. I’ve seen scans around the same time as me with bigger babies and clear heartbeats. I’m so so paranoid that the next scan isn’t gonna be good news as I expected to see a heartbeat at my last one.
Can anyone share their experiences if they’ve had similar? It’s my first pregnancy and until I see a heartbeat my mind just won’t settle. Here’s my recent scan picture

Period cramps and shooting pains in my bum, what could this be?

Hi, I had an emergency C section 2 weeks ago exactly, it was a pretty horrendous C section in the end 😭 but my question… I’m still finding myself in some pain, a soreness around my scar, a pain inside my stomach and a strain when I wee, is anyone else experiencing this please? I’m taking pain killers when it gets bad maybe once / twice a day if I really need! I really thought the pain would have been gone by now 😭😭
