Ill with breastfed baby

Hi all, I'm feeling a bit under thr weather mild temperature and a little shivery, my baby is exclusively breast fed. We tried an expressed bottle literally 2 days ago which he took slowly. I only have about 1L of expressed milk in the freezer any top tips for managing the situation?

Like how do you maintain supply when feeling poorly or using expressed milk etc

Thanks in advance being able to access so many mums is helpful!

Baby is 12 weeks old x

İf you mean your supply is low because you are sick and you are having to use expressed milk from freezer keep drinking lots of water (3-4 litres daily), take breastfeeding vitamins. Try to eat extra well to help your body recover and carry on breastfeeding as the antibodies your body is producing for you are in your breast milk and are very beneficial for your baby's immune system, even if your supply is low.

Thanks and just in general if I felt too unwell to breast feed I guess just at minjmjntrh and pump?

Good point about antibodies though probably worth powering through to protect the baby

I ended up wearing a face mask whilst breastfeeding and tried to feed lying down so our faces weren’t as close, luckily baby didn’t get my cold. Could be worth a shot if you are able to?

I’ve never stopped breastfeeding through an illness, usually if im sick first my babies won’t get sick because i am giving them the antibodies. Drink plenty, have electrolytes of you need them and power through is my advice x

I got really sick when my little one was a younger baby. I was wearing a mask when BF, I was so so worrried he would get my illness. However, he must’ve received my antibodies and didn’t get sick at all.

Exactly like the other mums have said really. I used to think I’d rather be sick before him.

For us though, it’s a bit tougher as can only take paracetamol I think. Lots of warm liquids, honey, rest…

Good luck!!

Stepkids (12F, 17M) hating the new pregnancy.. how to handle?

Hey everyone, looking for advice on navigating some tough stepfamily dynamics.

My partner and I have been together for a while. There was a lot of drama with his ex at the beginning, so the kids didn't like me initially. I get why the transition was hard, but we're running into a wall now that I gave birth.

The 12-year-old daughter has been super moody and upset about the pregnancy, especially stressing over whether it's a girl (we waited till I gave birth to find out the gender). On a recent FaceTime (which included the ex and the 17yo son), she literally sat in the background the whole time texting, ignoring us completely.

It really unsettled me especially the thought of her resentment if I had a daughter. I gave birth to a baby boy but still.

How do you guys handle stepkids who are openly resentful about a new baby, and how do you set boundaries with FaceTime calls when the ex is involved? Any advice is appreciated!

Sudden mama only phase

My LO is 9 weeks, since last week he suddenly only wants me. He used to take a bottle ebm from my husband and be soothed by my dad/brother — now he refuses both and only calms when I hold him. Contact naps only, cries when put down.

Don’t get me wrong , i love him so much but sometimes need to step away 🥲😥 my back is killing me from holding him all day and sometimes I just need to function.— and right now I can't, because he won't settle for anyone else. My husband used to offer one bottle of ebm per day so that i can get a few hours of uninterrupted sleep but now that’s also impossible

Is this a phase? Will appreciate any tips

Looking for support

Last night was one of the most frightening and emotionally overwhelming nights I’ve experienced in a long time, and I’m honestly not sure what to do.

Taking baby shopping

I feel absolutely insane but I'm nervous to take my almost 4 month old out shopping with me lol. I was hoping he'd be able to sit in the cart so I don't have to bring in the car seat. Should I just put him in a baby wearing carrier? Why do I feel like I'm making a bigger deal out of this than it should be 😂

Maternity Bras - big boobs!

Hi, just wondering if anyone has any recommendations for maternity bras for big boobs. Not necessarily needing breastfeeding friendly, but something comfortable and soft with support.

I am 9 weeks pregnant and my boobs already are spilling out of my current bras and they are soooo heavy and sore.

I'm a 36G normally but will need to go up 🙃 (genuinely thought they couldn't get any bigger 😂😂)
