Sleep

My 6 week old is currently waking every hour at night. The only way to put him back to sleep is if I give him my boob again (EBF). He is not really feeding, he uses it as a dummy. I have tried a few dummies and he refuses to take any. Anyone going through this ? Any advice ?
I am not sure how long I can do this for 😓

I got my LG to take a dummy but dabbing a bit of gripe water on it if youve got any.

Really normal. Both my babies have been like this and I’m currently 6 months into it with my second 😬😬 neither would accept a dummy. At 6 weeks they’re still so tiny x

I know it sounds cruel but even if they gag and make sour lemon face at the paci they still might take it! Sometimes I will give baby boob, pinky then paci once she’s super tired. I also have to swaddle my baby or she wakes up constantly! Do you bedshare? Sometimes this will happen simply because baby can smell your milk right next to him

I went through this. Sought some help and found out that comfort sucking is the best way for them to calm their nervous system as they can't independently. I still let bub do it when she's really upset but I also put some breastmilk on the tip of her dummy and she is taking that about half the time now. I use the nanobebe flexy dummies because they are very similar to breast. Bub loves them.

With the feeding, when he starts getting slow, try a nappy change mid feed or gently rubbing his ear or cheek. Waking every hour may indicate he isn't drinking enough but every baby can be different and cluster feeding is common. I had to do that for 7 weeks because bub needed more intake to sustain weight. She was born on the smaller side. LC told us it's because feeding is hard for little babies and they get tired easily.

Traveling by car

FTM to a one month old and we want to travel to visit family so they can meet the baby. The drive is only 4 hours away but online keeps saying to take breaks etc because its dangerous to have the baby in a car seat for more than 2 hours at a time. Anyone been thru something similar? And what did you do?

Tips for selling baby and maternity items?

I have lots of baby items (next to me, baby prep machine, monitor- all never used) to sell – what’s the best way to go about it? Any favourite platforms, tips for quick sales, or things I should avoid? Would love to hear your experiences!

Sleep

My LG (2.5) has always been a great sleeper. She still naps during the day, usually for anywhere between 1.5–3 hours, but lately she’s been fighting her naps and they’re getting later and later. But when shes gone, shes sparko!

We’ve had a few days recently where she hasn’t napped at all, and if she’s kept busy, she gets delirious by the end of the day before sleeping from 7pm–6am.

However, if we’re having a quieter day at home or I can’t get out, she might finally nap from 1–3pm. I try not to let her nap that late because it pushes bedtime back to around 10pm, but I also don’t want to keep her awake when she’s clearly exhausted, whinging and in need of sleep.

Does anyone have any tips for gently waking a toddler from a nap so they don’t sleep for so long? Or is it time to drop naps altogether? Alternatively, how can I get her back into the routine of napping from 12–2pm like she used to?

I know she obviously still needs the sleep, but our days are now starting at 5am, and I’m struggling to work out what’s best for her. I'm also aware the clocks go back soon which will fuck me even more. Shes up from 5/6am. She has so much energy and we play from the moment she opens her eyes till bedtime.

For context, I also have a 6-month-old who sleeps amazingly from 8pm–7am. This then means I sort my toddler out and have to wait upstairs until my baby wakes up as transporting her downstairs will wake her unnaturally.

Sleep question

For those whose babies are “sleeping through” or has a good 4/5 stretch of sleep through the night, does you baby have a dummy?
