I dunno where to ask this...
My toddler is supposed to go on a play date tomorrow to an indoor play cafe. I will be brining my 5m old.
Me and the other mum booked it last night.
The mum just messaged saying her toddler has HFM?! Said they had it the worst at the start of the week. Mainly moulth ulcers. And that she is her normal self now. They are still planning on going.
My toddler hasnt had it before. Im scared of it. I paid THIRTEEN POUNDS.
Im in 2 minds... im pissed off.
1. I dont want either kiddos to get it.
2. Will it be ok??
3. Pissed that a kid with HFM is going and not my healthy kids.
What would you do?!

I wouldn’t go. Not something you or your kids want to catch. But I’d probably warn the indoor cafe that this other mother is planning to take her sick child there.

Nah don't go. HFM can be mild or it can be horrific. It's transmitted through touch and you can get it over and over again. It's irresponsible of her to be taking a child with it to somewhere they will pass it on.
It's similar to chicken pox in that it is contagious until the liquid in the blisters has dried up...
I'd be annoyed to. Maybe call the centre and ask to go to an earlier time slot and then leave before they arrive. Obviously let them know that you don't want to risk your kiddos catching it, especially your baby. Xx
I agree 🙁 their refund / reorganisation policy is pretty strict so thats out the window. I have emailed & messaged the center on insta for now. Ahhh im so annoyed at her!!! So irresponsible x

I'm pretty sure HFM is most contagious before the spots show hence why kids are still allowed into nursery or school whilst having the spots. Although I completely understand airing on the side of caution with the baby being so young x

I definitely wouldn’t be going, even if it meant losing £13. My toddler was awful with HFM. I’d never take my kids out somewhere if they had been ill with it in the same week, quite naughty I think!
I don't know who to share it with, because I don't want to come off as ungrateful for such a healthy, big boy.. but my son is now 2 and a half, and officially 92% in height, and 94% in weight. He was born at 21 inches, and has always been in the high 80-90% range for height, weight, and head size.
It's just.. it's hard. He's 2. He's still waiting to be held all the time, and it was starting to be a struggle to hold him starting around a year old. It's not fair to him. I feel guilty. He didn't understand why I would have to put him down so quickly when he was younger, and I hope it didn't make him feel like I didn't want to or something.
It's a weird situation that none of my friends can relate to.
Does anyone here relate?
Thanks for listening 💕
(Adding that I have used baby carriers, hip packs, etc. He doesn’t like them.)

I have a two month old and his dad who lives 2 hours away wants him overnight like a week or 2 I told him I don’t feel comfortable with being far away from my baby for a week or even longer his dad is calling me selfish and controlling he is also saying that his family haven’t got to spend anytime with the baby either (they have just not as much as they want) am I being unreasonable? Would any one else send their 2 month old 2hrs away for a week or 2 ?

Am I mean for keeping my toddler off pre-school in the fear we catch a sickness bug that’s going round?
We have plans next weekend and I really don’t want us coming down with anything before hand 🤦🏻♀️🙈

Hey, I got my first payment today. It's a lot lower than I was told it would be.
My total entitlement before deductions is over £700 (the amount I was told at my job centre meeting). After deductions I got just over £300.
In the breakdown, they've got my savings as over £5000 but most of that is the savings for my daughter & I was told that they don't take into account money for your kids so I'm so confused.
Anyone able to shed some light please?
Also, I thought I would get help with childcare but the 'report childcare cost' link isn't available on my home screen (my friend said that's where she sent her invoices through).. So does that mean I won't be getting any help with childcare cost after all? I was getting tax free childcare before.

I'm not from the UK but I asked my husband who grew up here and went to school here and everything and he also seems confused.
My kid is at nursery but I'm really confused about all the options after. There seem to be preschools, but some nurseries are also preschools, some people talk about kindergarten from 3+ but I think they are American. Then there's reception and year 1 and maybe some other things I didn't mention.
I read a thread about kids born in the summer months and that they can be held back. I'd like to do this with my kid but from what people said, it's not as straight forward. Several people said that if you hold them back a year, they would just start in y1 instead of reception, which I don't understand. They said there are only downsides because the kid would no longer be with their peers. A mum friend of mine has been talking about sending her kid to school once he turns three and that she can't wait to be done with nursery.
I'm just so confused. When I grew up in a different country, all we had was kindergarten from 3 till 6, then school. There was an option of going to preschool for those old enough for school but not mentally or physically ready yet. That was it. I think it had now changed there as well though.
If anyone could explain all this to me, I'd be super grateful!

I need to vent a minute my husband and I were arguing Saturday which yes it was mostly my fault I started my period and just was a bad day mood well because of it he’s basically told me to piss off until he calms down which theres been so much tension this past week because of it that I feel like I’m going to explode it doesn’t help that the only people I have to talk to adult wise are him and my mom and nobody I can vent to about it (my mom stays out of it and doesn’t want to hear about it unless it gets physical). Also I’m a SAHM and since my car went down me and him share his truck or did anyways I was supposed to get a car with income tax but it now seems like we may not make it until then so with me not working and no car I could be stuck…
