I have a two month old and his dad who lives 2 hours away wants him overnight like a week or 2 I told him I don’t feel comfortable with being far away from my baby for a week or even longer his dad is calling me selfish and controlling he is also saying that his family haven’t got to spend anytime with the baby either (they have just not as much as they want) am I being unreasonable? Would any one else send their 2 month old 2hrs away for a week or 2 ?

I’m guessing you aren’t together? Are you breastfeeding? I’d look into setting up a formal arrangement and do think it’s unlikely that a court would be in favour of separating such a young baby from their primary caregiver for weeks at a time.

We was together but he broke up with me over this I just don’t know if I’m being unreasonable or if it’s normal to feel uncomfortable with it

Absolutelyyyyyy not. I would have the same opinion. I wouldn’t sleep a wink. I’d want 24/7 camera footage feed from their house! … you’re not unreasonable in the slightest. This is your bonding time. Even one night is difficult let alone a whole week.

Nopeee my baby is 7 weeks and I can’t stand to even be away from her for 5 mins if they offer to hold her while I eat. Babies this young only really know mummas scent and heartbeat so it’s important she stays with you. If he loved her he’d do what’s best for her right now

No way would I let my baby out of my sight!
My boy has just turned two and he still not gone anywhere without me.

What contact are you allowing currently? Apply for mediation to come to an agreement. From 6 month old baby is able to do overnights (courts do grant them this young starting 1-2 nights and building up to 50/50 - also 1 week on 1 week off). I’d be careful though if BF as this should not be used as a barrier to not allow a father overnights there’s ways around it

i still don’t like to be away from my children now aged 6 & 3 the most they have ever done is one night at grandparents house and that only started in the last 6 months! i don’t think you are being unreasonable

Girl, Protect your baby! it’s still too young to be without you. You’re not being unreasonable. That fact that your ex is saying a 2 months old baby needs to “get used to it” is CRAZY.

I know he is and that’s what I’m trying to tell him but he is just not understanding me . And all this started because I asked if he could come and watch his son while I go to university and he told me that his mom suggested to come and pick him up and take him to his for a week😩

This sounds like such a stressful but whatever pressure you feel PLEASE do not allow your 2 month old away from you for a week or more. It’s too long for such a small baby to be away from his mama. Besides that, how would you be certain that the baby is around safe adults? At some point within that week or two he will fob the baby off to his parents or relatives to look after. Does he work? Study? See friends?
I know fathers have rights too so my literal only compromise would be if you guys are cool(ish), can he come and stay with you for a few days or however long you feel comfortable so he can spend quality time with his son.
Btw, adults should be seeking out children- not vice versa. If his family want to spend more time with the baby then they can come to where the baby lives in order to see him. You should definitely facilitate visits with all of the babies family but you have no duty whatsoever to trek over to where they’re at so they can see their grandchild. Hope it works x

You aren’t being unreasonable.
It would destroy me to be away from my baby that young. Mine is 7 months old and I’ve never been away g from him for more than 2 hours, and never over night.
It might be worth saying that even baby is ready, perhaps when they are over a year old, you would love for them to get that over night time together, but just not yet.
I wonder if you could get him to talk to someone sensible to get some perspective? It sounds like me m he might be casting you as the evil woman using the kids as a weapon etc, which you absolutely aren’t, but I expect your life would be easier if he had a wiser perspective
Can someone give me the courage as we have a 6month old together and i live with my inlaws.
I need to know i’ll somehow do this, and we will be okay. I fully depend on him financially aswell. I have no savings. And my family lives in another country.
Edit: I need courage to leave, not stay. And its more serious than miscommunication.

Am I mean for keeping my toddler off pre-school in the fear we catch a sickness bug that’s going round?
We have plans next weekend and I really don’t want us coming down with anything before hand 🤦🏻♀️🙈

I don't know who to share it with, because I don't want to come off as ungrateful for such a healthy, big boy.. but my son is now 2 and a half, and officially 92% in height, and 94% in weight. He was born at 21 inches, and has always been in the high 80-90% range for height, weight, and head size.
It's just.. it's hard. He's 2. He's still waiting to be held all the time, and it was starting to be a struggle to hold him starting around a year old. It's not fair to him. I feel guilty. He didn't understand why I would have to put him down so quickly when he was younger, and I hope it didn't make him feel like I didn't want to or something.
It's a weird situation that none of my friends can relate to.
Does anyone here relate?
Thanks for listening 💕
(Adding that I have used baby carriers, hip packs, etc. He doesn’t like them.)

Hey, I got my first payment today. It's a lot lower than I was told it would be.
My total entitlement before deductions is over £700 (the amount I was told at my job centre meeting). After deductions I got just over £300.
In the breakdown, they've got my savings as over £5000 but most of that is the savings for my daughter & I was told that they don't take into account money for your kids so I'm so confused.
Anyone able to shed some light please?
Also, I thought I would get help with childcare but the 'report childcare cost' link isn't available on my home screen (my friend said that's where she sent her invoices through).. So does that mean I won't be getting any help with childcare cost after all? I was getting tax free childcare before.

I'm not from the UK but I asked my husband who grew up here and went to school here and everything and he also seems confused.
My kid is at nursery but I'm really confused about all the options after. There seem to be preschools, but some nurseries are also preschools, some people talk about kindergarten from 3+ but I think they are American. Then there's reception and year 1 and maybe some other things I didn't mention.
I read a thread about kids born in the summer months and that they can be held back. I'd like to do this with my kid but from what people said, it's not as straight forward. Several people said that if you hold them back a year, they would just start in y1 instead of reception, which I don't understand. They said there are only downsides because the kid would no longer be with their peers. A mum friend of mine has been talking about sending her kid to school once he turns three and that she can't wait to be done with nursery.
I'm just so confused. When I grew up in a different country, all we had was kindergarten from 3 till 6, then school. There was an option of going to preschool for those old enough for school but not mentally or physically ready yet. That was it. I think it had now changed there as well though.
If anyone could explain all this to me, I'd be super grateful!
