Birthday party without party bags?

I have been thinking about not giving a party bag on our next birthday party. What is your opinion around this?

Should I give one because children expect it? Or could I skip it?

The party is already expensive, it is in a softplay, with cake, food, shouldn't that be enough?

I just send them home with extra cake and a balloon and call it good since gift bags are just kinda junk

I personally think the children and parents will be expecting them. The birthday cake always goes in the party bags at parties I’ve been to so how would you give the cake out? Also I think they are the social cue for thank you very much but it’s time for you all to bugger off now 😂

Honestly saves so much money and if the kids are having fun I don't see why they have to have party bags or activities given to them
For her tenth birthday all we did was have a large amount of food and sweets and have her friends come and play

We went to a kids party (age 6) back in June where the parents did this and no lie, ALL the kids kept asking where their party bags were at the end to the point where the parents had to make an announcement lol

On the Monday after school my daughter asked me what a cheapskate was 😳 as she had heard other kids (presumably overhearing their parents) talking about the girl’s party and having no party bag. So yea, even at that young age, the kids talk about things like that in the playground.

I did soft play party for my daughter recently, party bags don’t have to be expensive. I did Kpop demon hunters theme and it worked out £1.27 per bag which included pen, pencil, rubber, ruler, notepad, keyring, figurine, ball of slime, wristband, glowsticks, stickers, balloon, bag of Haribo, 1 lollipop, bag of choc fingers, 2 Maoam blocks.

Party bags are expected at parties and it just seems silly to skip it. Parents also notice these things and will talk about it behind your back sadly.

It’s a bit like doing a party without cake especially with little kids where they are expecting a party bag. Plus it’s a good signal to leave. Doesn’t have to be expensive. Could just be birthday cake wrapped in the napkin.
