So, a little mother-in-law drama to add to everything else going on in my life.

After almost 13 years of marriage, my husband decided he wanted a divorce, without giving me a real explanation as to why. One week he was telling me he loved and missed me, and the next he was completely done with our marriage. And somehow, on top of trying to process all of that, I now get to deal with his mother’s opinions.

After raising three kids, being a stay-at-home mom, and supporting my husband throughout his military career, my mother-in-law basically implied that both parents should be working and that my husband shouldn’t lose everything he’s worked for.

What really upset me is that she knows everything I’ve sacrificed for our family. My husband has always compared me to his mom because she worked and raised her kids, but the difference is that she had her in-laws living with them to help. I’ve never had that kind of support system.

It’s frustrating that after everything I’ve contributed to this marriage, somehow his financial contributions are the only ones that seem to matter. Apparently, raising children, maintaining a home, and supporting someone else’s career for nearly 13 years don’t count as work. 🙃

And the cherry on top? I’m not even the one who wanted this divorce, yet somehow I’m being made to feel like I’m the problem.

Wow.. it seems like she got to his head.. in a in laws mind.. especially the mother of the son, she doesn’t think just you aren’t good enough, but she thinks no woman is good enough for her son. She’ll meet her match one day. Let him go and focus on mourning them as apart of healing. He’ll figure out that it’s not all sunshine and rainbows. He let his mom fuck his relationship up and it’s gunna bite her in the ass.

Ignore her. Her opinion doesn’t matter. What matters is that your children see a happy mom. How old are your kids? When are you moving to Florida? What is in Florida?

I don’t care because I am going through postpartum by self and depression has kicked in The excuse he gave has angered me and it lives rent free in my head but my daughter is the reason I get up because she deserves the best from her mom I cry in the shower or when she is sleep .I try to be strong because I only breast feed and all of this tanks my milk supply.its to much to say and one post i’m going through alone isn’t any better

Blended family contact time

My partner sees his son from his previous marriage the majority of the time. He takes him on days out. Only two weekend days are for our shared son and I. He says it's because he doesn't see his older son during the work week. But during the work week, our shared son is not at home and we just do the bed time routine. He has to commute back and forth to pick up his first son and often is tired for us but he does force himself to do things with us even if it tires him.

To be fair He does invite us to go with them but his son often snatches toys from kids, recently he kicked my toddler who went flying backwards. I don't think he is a good influence on our son but his dad doesn't want to discipline him because he feels guilty and his mother says that saying no to their son is bad. I am limiting time with them now which now puts the childcare of my son with me for the majority of the weekend. Do you think two days is sufficient for our shared son?

I’m angry and disgusted

I didn’t sleep well last night because my daughter is teething and she was up all night. This morning after everyone was up I asked my husband to take the kids so I can get some sleep. My son is potty training he needed to pee he ran to the toilet but didn’t reach in time so he peed on the bathroom floor (this was about an hour after I asked my husband to watch them). I heard my son go to his dad who was watching tv and said daddy I peed on the floor my husband responded “go to your mom tell her to wash and change you”. My son did exactly that I got up and bath him and changed him after that I got ready and went to do grocery thinking that my husband cleaned the pee on the bathroom floor down stairs(we have two bathrooms). When I came back from doing grocery I went into the bathroom and saw the floor was covered with pee. I went to him who was still seating watching tv and asked him why didn’t you clean the pee off the floor he responded ”oh you didn’t do that”

Discipline

Do you hit/spank your kids if they don’t listen or do something wrong? According to the Bible you are supposed to. I grew up in a home that did believe in whoopings and never thought I would hit my kids. I hear some people don’t but what do you do when your kids don’t listen? My boys don’t listen AT ALL! I’m a sahm.

Would your family disliking your partner make you want to divorce

Backstory my partner used to be very shit I used to lean on my family allot go over to their house every 2 days and get them to help me with the kids
Fats forward to today he does help me sometimes wake up with the kids take them to the park send money but not to what I expected when I got married my sisters still hold allot resentment cause they seen allot of my life and they dislike him I don’t do that now I go every week if not every two weeks but even then I don’t feel like they are present with my kids they just complain about the fact that my husband should be stepping up even though he has it’s not what they think it b should be like I’m just stuck makes me feel like my marriage is shit and in reality we have been through allot and much of it isn’t good the kids love him but he’s extremely lazy we argue allot but he’s better than before that’s where I am right now btw we’ve been together 8 years
