We had our 8 week GP appointment yesterday and I can’t help but feel it was a waste of time!
My baby wasn’t weighed or measured. She did listen to his chest, check his body and suggest that he needs more tummy time to strengthen neck muscles, but that was it. She didn’t discuss developmental milestones (smiling/tracking etc). She didn’t really look at his head shape/development. No room for any questions about these things either!
As a FTM I think I assumed that this check would be very thorough. What was your experience??

They don't do much measuring unfortunately, i think they should offer to do a weight though. Developmental milestones are discussed with the health visitor mainly who I saw at 6 weeks.
Most GPs nowadays do the bare minimum as they're really pressed for time. All they would've done is a repeat of newborn infant physical examination he would've had when he was born where they look at the eyes, heart, hips and testes and general
Head to toe check. I'm sorry they didn't answer your questions - we all deserve better xx

I would be annoyed by this too! They weighed and measured my baby at the 8 week appointment. He also got his vaccines.

My baby recently had her 8 week. They had me fill out a form asking for the developmental milestones and they weighed & measured her as well as checking her heart, ears, tunny, nose etc. They even had the vaccines, with a thorough discussion of them with me, taking the time to answer my questions and concerns.
Id be quite peeved if they didn't do these sorts of basic things. I'd probably like for a different pediatrician.
My chunky boy is 6 weeks today!!

I’m struggling to decide - leaning towards an elective c-section, and these are my reasons:
-Struggle with not being in control, and would feel calmer knowing how and when my baby is going to arrive
-Traumatic experience having an IUD fitted - nurse couldn’t get the ‘normal’ sized one in due to my cervix being ‘tight’, and ended up having unbearable contraction-like pain during the procedure
-I’m small and can’t imagine how I could possibly deliver a baby naturally without complications! I just don’t trust that I can do it unfortunately.
I really want to exclusively breastfeed and am worried about this being harder after an elective c-section due to milk not coming in for a while. But also think if I go for a natural birth I’ll definitely need interventions i.e. epidural/episiotomy… and possibly even emergency c-section.
Anyone have any advice or been in a similar position?

Not sure if anyone can relate to this/have any ideas would could be causing this but I’ve woken up in the night in pain as I’ve rolled onto my left side to lie, I’ve got severe pain in the right hand side of my bump? Does it just sound like stretching of the muscles??
