Solids

I am absolutely petrified of feeding baby anything other milk. It's really getting me down and feel like an awful mother. I started him on 4 months Ella's pouches. He liked a couple of them, he turned 6 months so I gave him a 6 months pouch and he gagged really bad and projectile vomited everywhere, I tried a new flavour a few days later, same thing. Tried him on home cooked mashed up food, same thing happened. Gave him a melty puff thing, same thing.. I'm now just refusing to give him food of any kind as I am petrified of it happening again. My heart literally can't take the look on his face as he gags, my metal state of panicking when it happens... I did a baby solids course and really didn't help me.... I don't know what to do. 😭

Could baby maybe just not be ready yet? I know 6 months is the guideline but every baby is different and maybe they just need a couple more weeks and then try again?

Also please don't feel like a bad mum! Youre doing your best and being so worried means you care 🩷 There's so much pressure and rules around weaning, it can feel so daunting and obviously it's worrying when baby is being sick.

I always tell myself 'food before 1 is just for fun' whenever I'm having a panic. Milk is still baby's main source of nutrients, weaning at this age is mainly about exploring textures and different tastes and learning how to eat

Babies gag reflex is quite sensitive, it sounds like they aren’t ready for solids. I’d stick to milk and keep offering small bits of food. Food before 1 is just for learning how to eat… all their nutrition should come from their milk x

Agree with the above - food before 1 is just for fun and not for nutritional value. Just take the pressure off yourself and baba and just let him play with food for a bit just to explore with all his senses. If he swallows some then great but if not then don’t worry, he’ll get there in his own time ☺️
Google baby led weaning - it’s all about just going at their pace rather than focusing on how much they consume etc!

At what age do you think kids develop their core memories?

The internet says around 3yo they start to form.

Last night, whilst my daughter was having her bath, she said 'mummy & daddy don't play with me...' to herself but I was in there with her & her dad was downstairs & heard her say it.

It made me incredibly sad as we do play with her - especially her dad.

I will hold my hands up & say that I'm terrible for using my phone when in her presence - especially after a long day at work where I just want to disassociate 🫣😫 but I do put it down when she wants my attention (her dad is guilty of this too).

I'm just worried that I've created a core memory for her that 'mum's always on her phone' 😫😭

I've asked Chat gpt for some activities I can do once she's back from nursery & I'm back from work & starting today, I'm leaving my phone upstairs whilst we do some of those activities together cuz I never wanna hear her sound so sad again 🥹

Anyone else been in a similar situation?

What can my 4 month old baby sit in?

He wants to sit up more but not sure if he is too young for the mamas and papas chair with tray?

Toy suggestions!

We’re currently designing a wishlist for Xmas for our little one who is 7m old.

What sort of toys would you guys recommend for us?

Ideally things that help with development and things without batteries / flashing lights / music please!

We’ve already got megabloks, a ragdoll and musical instruments on the list 🎁

Thank you in advance!

I just need to vent here 🫩

I honestly need to vent because I'm mentally and emotionally exhausted. 💔
I'm a mom trying to rebuild my life, and I feel like I can't even get a moment of peace. My daughter's father constantly comes to me with his problems, expects me to help him financially, and now wants me to help pay his rent. When I don't, he makes me feel guilty, as if I'm responsible for the position he's in.
What makes this situation even harder is that I'm struggling myself. I'm trying to get on my feet, provide for my daughter, figure out my living situation, and keep pushing forward despite everything I've been through. I'm not in a position where I can just take on someone else's financial responsibilities. I'm trying to survive and rebuild my own life.
But somehow, I'm made to feel like the bad person for saying no.
And it's not just the guilt. He constantly threatens me, too. It's emotionally draining to feel pressured to help someone while also being afraid of how they might react when you don't. I'm trying to move forward from this relationship, but it feels like I can't get free from the emotional pressure, the guilt, and the fear.
Sometimes I ask myself, how did I get here? Why do I feel responsible for someone else's decisions when I'm already carrying so much on my own? I know I need boundaries, but it's hard when the person putting you through this is your child's father.
I don't want to live in survival mode anymore. I want peace. I want to focus on my daughter, rebuild my life, and stop feeling like I have to save someone else at the expense of myself.
Has anyone else experienced this with their child's father? How did you deal with the guilt, the threats, and the feeling that you're still trapped in a situation you desperately want to move on from?
I'm not looking for judgment. I'm genuinely looking for advice and support from moms who have been through something similar. I just want to know I'm not alone. 🤍

I always said that teeth might be the thing that makes me stop as I’ve already got further than I expected tbh. But the biting has started already and the way it feels she might as well have teeth!!! Is it a phase cos I hope sooooo

Feeling down sad and guilty

I have a 2 year old and a one month year old. My two year old has become so distant from me it’s breaking my heart as he was so clingy and so attached to me. Through out pregnancy and since the day he was born he has done everything with me. I’ve struggled getting him to eat with anyone, fall asleep with anyone not even his dad. Recently my mother inlaw has been taking him to stay at hers and she been taking him out a lot. As grateful as I am for this it has made me feel so down as he does not want to come back home he been crying and will run to her. I’ve balled my eyes out many times feeling like I’ve lost my boy. I’m currently at my mother’s house as my stitches are opened from my surgery and I need help. My lil one’s been with his dad and although I’ve constantly said please bring him here after nursery I want to go spend time with him I’ve felt like it’s never been done. I just feel like my little one is very different towards me and won’t even come to me I feel awful I can not explain it’s making me so depressed and sad !
