Tantrums during cooking

My 20 months old daughter starts total dramas when I'm cooking. Rolling on the floor, screaming. My husband often works from home, he can't focus. I'm heavily criticized by everyone for letting her watch Sesame Street, but this is terror. I need to prepare meals and she cannot self regulate yet. Am I the only bad mom that turns on tv? It became almost a taboo subject.

As long as TV is used as a tool and not a crutch, then I think you’re fine.

Alternatively, you can try to have her in the kitchen with you and playing with pots, pans and utensils
Kids love that stuff 😂
My toddler (almost 3) still tries to steal the roller so 😂

I wouldn’t listen to anyone who has an opinion about you using the tv to get stuff done. If watching something age appropriate on tv for a little bit so you can cook works for you, then do it! People make up too many rules and ways you’re ‘supposed’ to parent these days. Don’t let others make you feel bad x

Absolutely understand that for many parents tv can be a great tool to give them a chance to get things done. You’re definitely not the only person who does this! However I would try to not do it every time just because it can become a cycle where she’ll demonstrate the behaviour because she wants the TV and associate you cooking with her having TV time which won’t necessarily help her self regulate long term. So I’d plan in at least a few meals a week where you do something quick and simple, maybe try a toddle tower for her, have some special kitchen toys etc etc. I haven’t put tv on for my daughter while cooking and some days have been a nightmare she’s 3 now and she generally lets me get on with it and even takes herself off to the living room to play with her toys. I’m very aware that part of this is just her personality, but I’ve also put the work in to get to this stage and we only ever watch tv together as a more social activity a few times a week.

What to do with uninvolved grandparents?

How do you talk to your kids about their grandparents breaking promises and being uninvolved? They broke a promise to spend time with my son after missing his birthday and party. They did have a good reason for missing it, but it feels like they always make empty promises and spend more time with my nephew. I was stupid and told my son they were coming before they canceled and now I feel awful doing that to him.

I need advice!!

My boyfriend has a little side business 👀 and we had a party for the fact my baby girl will be coming in about a months time (9th December) it’s like my last little piece of fun as she might also be early due to being little but healthy!! ☺️

Anyway! I’ve ended up going into the kitchen hungry for some snacks and I seen a packet of randoms (candy/sweets) depending on where you are! So I had one and realised it tasted completely off , asked everyone who’s they where and they where my partners edibles!! 🙍🏽‍♀️ I felt so embarrassed and now I’m so scared because I’ve literally consumed an edible I’ve tried to vomit but how is that actually going to help😭.

What do I do right now?!
