How often are you breastfeeding after baby turned 1?

Health visitor said to reduce so it doesn't ruin appetite for food but just wondering how often others are doing it. Thanks x

in our case I kept breastfeeding around 4/5 times per day, one before nursery, one after and once/twice in the evening, plus some feeds in the night, but they were mostly for comfort. I stopped completely at 21 months. The feeding never affected her appetite for food.. I am surprised they said that

The best decision I ever made for my own mental health was to take away all daytime feeds (except for naptime) he was getting milk whenever he asked for it and that was sooo stressful. When I weaned him during the day, there were only three feeds left. Naptime, right when he wakes up, and bedtime. Then later, it’s easier to cut them out one by one if you wish

I let baby decide, it felt like loads for a bit but as ive learned her favourite foods and we got a better and clearer routine with eating, it went down loads. Shes 18 months now and feed for naps and to go sleep but usually if she tried to pull at my top I can distract then get a snack out.
Breastmilk has so many benefits so if youre happy and little one is i wouldnt worry roo much about weaning off milk to wean onto solids.

My son started nursery at 12m so I was nursing before school, after school and before bed.

I would say that it was more “on-demand” but he would say no/push me away. It would slowly become less and less. Shorter sessions, then he wouldn’t after school and it was just before school and before bed. Then just before bed. He weaned himself by 16m.

Was still feeding 1-2 hourly day and night until he was 25 months and we weaned.

Your HV clearly doesn’t understand how breastfeeding works, ignore them x

I kept feeding mine until she turned 2 then I was put on some medication that I couldn’t bf on so we weaned then and my LG took it surprisingly well. I’m quite surprised that the HV would say that it would ruin appetite for food as the NHS and WHO guidance recommends breastfeeding for at least 2 years! You just do what works best for you 😊

Sound a bit delulu and unprofessional and not very updated. Almost 19 m here bf, and still whenever she wants( some days is only at sleep time some days 4/5 times) some days eats more food and guess what?! Still breastfeeding 4 times! Do what’s best for you and your child, at this age they don’t overfeed , they just take whatever they need! Offer healthy balanced food as I am sure you do and that’s it☺️

I gradually night wean at 12 months as on demand during the day. My son always ate his solid food without any issues as from 6 months

My 18 month old was eating just fine and breastfeeding on demand sometimes 8x a day when her younger sibling arrived. The health visitor clearly doesn't understand infant nutrition and that daytime feeds are for way more than calories.

💕 Breastfeeding hormones – has anyone else felt like this? 🤱🏼

I’m around 3 months postpartum and feel like breastfeeding has affected me more than I expected. I love the bond with my little boy, but my sex drive has disappeared, and sometimes I feel like I’ve lost a bit of myself. 🥺

I’d love to hear from other mums who’ve experienced this!

💗 Did your sex drive come back while breastfeeding, or only after stopping?

💗 Did you feel more emotional or unlike yourself?

💗 Did anything help, or did things improve naturally over time?

I love breastfeeding and don’t necessarily want to stop, but I’d love to feel more like myself again. ❤️

Any advice or experiences would be really appreciated! 🫶🏼

Winter sleeping advice

Ok so this may sound like a dumb question but what’s everyone doing during colder nights now? So my room is normally around 21-22 degrees, whenever the temp drops below 21 in the house the heating comes on automatically. With a LO now, I’m finding it hard to navigate, and I’m extremely anxious about overheating. So with the heating on, we keep the babies in 0.5 tog sleep sack with vest and sleepsuit. But as the nights get colder I wonder whether I need to put them in a 1.5 or 2.5 tog so they are cosy during the times the heating is off. But it’s never going to be that cold because the heating turns on anyways… I’m so confused and it’s possible I’m over thinking this but hey that’s post partum for you 🤣🤣 I wake up at night scared they’re over heating sometimes and if I go up a tog, my anxiety is going to get worse. But I also don’t want them to be cold. Please help!! Is it normally one or the other, like either have the heating on or put them in thicker sleep sack? Never both?

TIA x

Bath time

My little one now hates bath time... she breaths really rapid and kicks her legs constantly throughout, she never looks chilled. I took her out early last night because she went red in the face and cried. Nothing has changed, we use one of the bath inserts bevause she hated the sitting up baths when she was new born. Any tips?

Triple feeding

Looking for advice/ support re triple feeding. I have a 3 month old little boy. I was keen from the start to breastfeed him but things didn't really go as planned. I had an emergency csection, and i guess milk came in later than expected. Initially it was all ok, he was gaining weight as per normal, didn't loose much after 5 days.
It all went downhill from the 6 week review i had with the gp as he dropped half centile and gp advised i top up after each feed.
I was then referred to the infant feeding support team and they advised i start pumping 8 to 12 times per day and top up... started doing that straight away..
After a few weeks with no changes, i went private and was told my LO has a posterior tongue tie and was recommended to see an osteopath. We had the division done a week ago, saw the osteopath twice... and still no changes.. i feel like he is having more and more from the bottle. I am doing paced feeding with the bottle and he did gain weight in the meantime.. which seems to indicate that the triple feeding is working but i am so so tired of pumping all the time... does anyone have any success stories with the triple feeding? Does it ever end? Desperate to just exclusively breastfeed my lovely little one
