Circumcising

Did anyone get their son circumcised? If so, how did you guys help them during the healing process?
I’m asking because next month my son gets circumcised and I want to make sure he heals well

A small amount of Vaseline on a gauze that you change during diaper changes 🙏🏽 my oldest is almost 8 so I don’t remember how long it took to heal but I’d say no longer than a month for us! 💗 the hospital should send you home with what you need

Same as above. Just a dab of Vaseline, and the bit of gauze on top to keep it from getting stuck to the diaper. It healed super quickly.

Id use triple antibiotic ointment instead of Vaseline. We had multiple friends complain of slow healing abd one even went to ER with infection.

Antibiotic ointment acts as a barrier and also makes the wound heal quicker. Our son was pretty set after about 2 weeks. Docs said it was a good looking healed penis!

I got my son circumcised at 1 month and it’s definitely a rough day and you’ll cry more than him🥲 but after that, they are fine. I routinely gave baby Tylenol every 4 hrs for abt 3 days and made sure to change diaper with gloves and aquaphor so it didn’t stick. I sized up on the diaper so it’s more comfortable for him. The doctor recommended a plastibell for him and I had to wait a week till he could have a bath but did take a couple weeks to fully heal and it popped off.

For the first 4 days, I used Xeroform petrolatum dressings! I also used sterile jelly with gauze around the tip to help protect it and keep it from sticking to his diaper. After that, I would put a generous amount of Aquaphor or Vaseline directly on his diaper where his ween would touch so nothing would stick to it lol. 😂💙

He was honestly pretty much healed within a week, but I kept up with the aftercare for the full 14 days just to be safe! The first 2 days were definitely the hardest because of the pain 😭💔 but Tylenol (with the pediatrician's dosing instructions), lots of cuddles, and patience helped us get through it! 🥹 Just make sure to follow whatever aftercare instructions his doctor gives you since every baby heals differently! 🤍

I just put vaseline/aquaphor straight on the diaper in the area where his penis would rub against the diaper... only took a week or two to heal

We got our son circumcised sometime after birth. They gave use instructions to keep it clean. Putting a small amount of Vaseline on the gauze was good. He healed up with no problems. When he had his first check up I did ask them to check to make sure everything was fine and it was.

Had our son circumcised at 2 weeks old (a week ago) using the plastibell method. The ring they place is still on my son but is almost off. He really has barely seemed different. We have only given him 3 doses of Tylenol over the 8 days since. Has been fine for us!

We were asked to use sudocream

My son was 6 wks when we decided to get him circumcised for religious purposes using local anaesthetic. I was sooo nervous for him and watched every part.
Babies don’t actually remember or feel pain at the newborn stage! He cried for 10 seconds when the numbing injecting went in. I gave him a bottle after for comfort.
Post after care> he wasn’t allowed any calpol as he was too young and no antibiotics was needed either.
For post-op after care, they just provided a instigel to help relieve pain and said to apply Vaseline on diaper for the healing process. The ring came off on day 5.
He cried abit of pain and was a bit irritable on the first night. But he totally healed and recovered in 7 days!

hi! when my baby got his circumcision i was told to put aquaphor on it and on the general area his penis would be in the diaper. healed so so fast and no complications!

I used to put a little bit of Vaseline every diaper change. It healed like in 1 week I think 🤔

Avatar

It never really bothered our son we just put Vaseline on the diaper where it would lay on the diaper

2 days it heal and u drown it in vasaline!!! Just drown it in there so it do not burn when they pee! !!! And the gauze won’t stick just coat it really good in the greasy stuff

Avatar

It took around a week to completely heal. Just you unscented Vaseline on a gauze to cover the area initially. Afterwards they asked us to apply Vaseline on the diaper too for a few days to avoid friction.
And another thing is get them circumcised as soon as you can so the lesser pain they feel. My baby was around 2 weeks old.

DNA Test

My baby’s dad performed a DNA test on him and my baby without my knowledge or consent. My baby wasn’t even a month old at this point. Any advice or thoughts? He’s not on the birth certificate.

How to get baby to nap without feeding?

My baby is almost 11 months old and he’s always fed to sleep even at bedtime. Now I feel like he’s starting to drop bottles, I struggle to get him to nap.

Like today, he had a filling lunch so refused his 3.30pm bottle for his nap, I resorted to having to drive around in the car to get him to sleep. I tried rocking and he just cries and tried to turn.

Any ideas on how I can start to get him to fall asleep with no bottle?

Cold and flu

How do people deal with colds and flu when you are breastfeeding and can't take cold and flu tablets? I had my flu jab yesterday but they said that it takes 2 weeks to work. My husband has a nasty cold and is taking cold and flu tablets, I can feel myself starting to get it but I checked with the doctor today and they said that I cant take the tablets due to breastfeeding as there is a decongestant ingredient which impacts the milk. How do people manage to care for their baby while fighting sickness and trying to avoid passing it on to them?

Is this normal?

Im a FTM and my 5 week old daughter is going through a stage of either not sleeping or sleeping too long, This morning she woke up at 4 and didn’t go back to sleep until 9:30, Between that time she had about 12oz of milk and slept for 8 hours, Has anyone else had this with their baby? Should I be worried and wake her up if she sleeps for that long again? Just looking for a bit of advice
