C sections

Has anyone had an emergency c section and a planned c section and know whether pain/recovery is any different. I know you shouldn’t compare but it took me a couple of weeks to be properly mobile after my emergency c section (I could walk very very slowly and needed support getting up out of bed etc.) My friend had a planned c section and was mobile very quickly afterwards. I didn’t know whether this was just based off different people’s pain threshold etc or whether it was due to mine being emergency and hers planned in case I need a c section for next baby.

I was up and moving as soon as I was allowed to after my emergency c section but a lady I was in with still couldn’t the next day after hers.. I think it all varies for each person regardless of emergency or not x

My emergency I found the recovery really hard - 2 weeks later I was still only walking short distances and struggling with stairs etc. With my planned, I was up and about so much quicker. Could manage longer walks sooner and honestly felt “back to normal” around 3 weeks.
I think everyone is different and probably depends on why you had your emergency, but being prepared second time round I found made a huge difference to me mentally

I had a planned c section and found recovery so so so hard

Both of mine were emergency c-sections but i struggled more the first time. The healing was fine but it took longer for me to get feeling back in my legs and energy levels back. I think it is different each time for each person tbh. X

I had an emergency c section and I found it really hard during recovery, I did start to drive 4 weeks after due to getting the thumbs up from my insurance x

I had an emergency section April 2025 and a planned 2026 . I found the pain level was about the same but I was less tired after planned as wasn’t in labour for days before hand . After emergency it took me a bit longer to get going xx

Disagreement about baby's surname

Hello, can anyone advice please?

I dont want to give my daughter my partners surname. It's nothing to do with him, all to do with what I stand for and my morals.

Ive suggested double barrelling which he says it doesn't sound right, which tbh it doesn't. And I've suggested changing all our names to a completely made up one which he doesn't seem too happy about either.

Any advice please?

Baby growth scan

Went for my 35 weeks scan last weeks and they estimated baby at 2.4kg at 35 + 4. All my pregnancy apps show this is the exact weight to expect for this time but at the scan the doctor said he would like me to have another scan in 2 weeks. They said the baby is in the average but on the small side of the average. I know these estimates are not super accurate but wondered if this happened to anybody else ?

C-section or natural birth?

hey guys! i’m pregnant with my first and am so torn between a c-section or a vaginal/natural birth? i never really imagined myself having a c-section but with 1 in 4 births being emergency c-sections nowadays, i don’t know if i should just psych myself up for one?

would love to know what other mums have done, birth experiences, if you’ve done both etc.

TIA! xxx

Periods!

A bit of a long shot, but I’m just looking for a bit of advice - I had my second baby in April this year. After having her, everything was fine. My periods quickly returned to my normal cycle, I started back on Desogestrel in the May. However in August, I randomly got 2 periods in one month. My cycle now is just bleeding more than not, my doctors are saying that it’s just hormones, however I never once experienced this with my first - and it is full blown bleeding, having to double up with pads due to it being so heavy and the pain is unreal ☹️ does anybody have any advice ?!
