1. Biggest adjustment: not getting enough sleep.
2. I hardly have any time for hobbies anymore. My plans for the future were to become a mom, so I achieved my goal.
3. My relationships have stayed the same.
4. My partner is involved, he brings home the money and watches the baby while I shower and cook.
5. I get Wic and my baby is on medicaid so it hasn't been too hard affording everything.
6. The greatest form of support is someone watching the baby while I get things done that need done.
7.My boyfriend has been working a lot and hasn't been home to help much.
8. Yes, id do my hobbies if I had more help with the baby.
9. Having to watch the baby 24/7.
10. I wish more people knew exactly how much sleep deprivation we go through.

1. I wasn't young. I had dealt with infertility and my child came along when I was 38 years old. Biggest adjustment was dealing with a little human.
2. This was my goal. I wanted to become a wife and mother since I was age 6.
3. My mom lives my kid. His mom I'm not sure... We were all living together and it got hostile...I even felt unsafe after an altercation with his stepdad that I had to leave.
4. My husband is a good dad. He loves being a dad.
5. I don't know how we do it but we have always made enough to where we can afford stuff for him. We have state assistance so that helps with food for us all.
6. My husband. He was the only one I could count on. That age my mom too but it was mainly my husband.
7. No challenges except for when I left after the altercation. I left with my mom and son. He stayed because it was closer to work. We are finally back together and in our own place.
8. Yes but I don't know who else I could've had for support.
9. To be Continued...

1. Having to plan my time around his sleep/wake windows
2. I stay at home much more and plan to find a work from home job to avoid missing important milestones
3. Friends/ family, relationships haven’t changed much. My partner, mentally & emotionally things have been very tense and overwhelming at times.
4. Father is involved; however, often feels like he’s my assistant doing things if asked rather than a partner sharing the responsibilities/ taking initiative.
5. I’m managing. Though majority of financial responsibilities are solely on me which has created added stress.
6. My parents
7. Just concern of their thoughts due to not being married first.
8. Focus more on my mental/ physical health
9. Mostly limited time/ support
10. Yes it’s highly rewarding, but knowing the large toll having/ caring for a baby truly takes on mothers mind, body, & spirit

Any advice please!

I’m white, and my fiancé is Black, so our son is mixed. With the world being the way it is, I worry about having the conversations with him someday about racism, police interactions, and how to keep himself safe. As his mom, one of my biggest fears is losing my son because of the color of his skin or an interaction with a police officer.

My fiancé doesn’t feel like it’s something we need to worry about right now and thinks our son will learn about racism as he gets older. I respect his perspective, and I don’t want to push him or act like I know what it’s like to experience racism as a Black man when I don’t. At the same time, I feel like these are important conversations that we need to be prepared to have with our son.

For other moms in interracial relationships or raising Black and mixed-race children, how have you approached these conversations? At what age did you start talking about racism and police interactions? Is this something I should leave primarily to his dad to teach him, or is it important for me to be involved in those conversations, too?

I want to protect my son, prepare him for the world without making him afraid of it, and make sure he always feels loved and supported. I would really appreciate hearing your experiences and advice. ❤️

Has anyone used these tests before?

I can’t seem to get a real line on these tests? Only squinters & shadows, for context I got a clear blue digital pregnant 1-2 yesterday. But these tests just don’t seem to be dark / obvious in the slightest & it’s making me panic. My clear blue red dye I took is slightly darker than when I originally tested. I got my first faint positive Wednesday last week at 11DPO. Officially missed my period on Saturday x

Issues with controlling parents (grandparents of baby)

💕 Does anyone else feel like their family is taking away the excitement of their first pregnancy? 😔

I'm currently pregnant with our first baby, and what should be one of the most exciting and special times in our lives is starting to feel quite upsetting and stressful because of my parents.

Don't get me wrong, we are incredibly grateful for everything they have offered to buy for our baby and their willingness to help with childcare. However, it feels like every offer of help comes with conditions and an expectation that they get a say in everything.

They told people about our pregnancy before we'd even had the chance to announce it ourselves, which really hurt because that was OUR news to share.

We also explained that there are certain things we would really like to choose and purchase ourselves for our first baby. We even gave them a list of the things that were important to us, only to be met with the response, "Who do you think you are?"

It's beginning to feel like because they're offering financial help and future childcare, they believe they're entitled to make decisions, overstep boundaries and say whatever they like.

This is our first baby, something my partner and I have been so excited to experience together. We want to enjoy choosing things, making plans and experiencing all those special firsts as parents.

Instead, I feel like we're constantly having to defend ourselves and our decisions.

I love my parents, and I genuinely appreciate their generosity, but I don't believe accepting help should mean giving up our right to make decisions about our own child.

I'm also starting to worry about what things will be like once the baby actually arrives if they're already struggling to respect our wishes now.

I feel guilty for being upset because I know we're fortunate to have family willing to help, but at the same time, I feel like our experience of becoming first-time parents is slowly being taken away from us. 💔

Has anyone else experienced this with their parents or in-laws? How did you manage to set boundaries without causing a massive family fallout?

I just want us to be able to enjoy this special chapter of our lives. 🥹💕
