Need some advice!

I don't know what to do about my stepson 9, and I'm genuinely worried about the safety and well-being of my biological children.

A few years ago, I caught my stepson on camera bullying my biological son. When we would come into the room, he would pretend he didn't know why my son was crying. When we confronted him about his behavior, he said his mother had told him to hit my son.

About a year ago, I noticed him staring at me continuously. When I asked him what he was thinking about, he told me that a little voice in his head kept telling him to hurt me. That statement really concerned me, but I wasn't sure what to make of it.

More recently, another incident occurred when he apparently thought no one was listening, not realizing my mother was within earshot. My biological son had his hands over his ears while my stepson told him, "I'm never going to play with you again, even if you die and beg me." My mother reassured my son that he didn't have to listen to those comments, and my son explained that he already knew that was why he had been covering his ears and trying to ignore him.

When my mother asked my stepson why he was saying those things, he again said that a little voice in his head was telling him to do it.

These incidents have left me extremely concerned. For the safety of my biological children, I no longer allow my stepson to be alone with them. I don't want to label him or assume I know what is causing this behavior, but I am frightened by the repeated statements about voices telling him to hurt people, combined with the behavior I have witnessed.

My husband left us approximately three months ago and has largely been absent from the children's lives. He is now in another relationship, and I am caring for all the children full-time. My husband has full custody of my stepson because his biological mother was abusive toward him.

I understand that my stepson may have experienced trauma himself, and I don't want him to suffer or go without the help he needs. However, I also have a responsibility to protect my biological children. Right now, I do not feel safe having my stepson in my home without his father present and taking responsibility for him.

I'm overwhelmed, worried, and unsure what steps to take next. How do I protect my children while making sure my stepson gets the professional help he may need, especially when his father is absent and I am left handling everything on my own?

Honestly, wow. I am so so sorry you are going through this… and what a piece of scum your husband is.

I can only speak on what I’d do. I look at my step children as my own. So I would do for him exactly as I would my own. Talk to a lawyer, immediately. Contact the school, immediately. Therapy for him, immediately.. probably in that order too. You have no legal rights or obligation to that child right now.. do you want those things? He was abused by his mother, abandoned by his father.. it seems you are his only stability.. which puts you in a terrible situation. I would get a free consult with a lawyer. Can they take the child and put him in foster care if you start making moves? Do you want that?

You can’t keep going on like this, that’s for sure… I think it truly depends on what you want. Think about what YOU want first, and make moves around that.

I dont want him to go into foster care, I've been in his life since he was 10 months old and my husband has had him full time since he just turned 5 so about 4 years now. I love him to death anf I have always treated him as my own. But I fear that he is just damaged. We have gotten him therapy for his behavior before. This is all too much. Im also 8 months pregnant. I dont think I have any legal rights to him and even if I did my husband has full custody but biomom hasn't lost her paternal rights. My husband is still waiting for trail for that.... in order for me to legally adopt him.

Birth thoughts

Hi guys.
I’m having a bit of a difficult time talking about my birth because I feel like I cheated it almost. It’s hard listening to other mamas stories and I feel like I didn’t do anything or much because of interventions. I had to be induced due to waters breaking and was put on the oxytocin drip - I then had the epidural because the contractions were crazy. They turned the drip off at some point because my body took over. Then the delivery… I ended up with an episiotomy and forceps. I just feel like I didn’t actually ‘give birth’ if that makes sense? Like I feel a bit embarrassed talking about it. Did anyone else have this feeling?

How do you survive the 4am contact-sleep shift? 🤯

How do you cope with the early morning shift with a baby who refuses to sleep anywhere but on you? 🫠😂

We currently do shifts - I’m on duty from 8:30pm to 4:30am, then my husband takes over from 4:30am to 8:30am so I can get some uninterrupted sleep.

The problem is baby basically stops sleeping in his cot from around 4am and will only sleep on us, so my husband ends up staying awake holding him until my shift is over. 🥲

Husband is going away for two nights for work soon, and I’m honestly wondering how on earth I’m going to manage those early mornings on my own! 😭

Mums who’ve been through this, how did you cope? Did your babies eventually grow out of it, or did you find anything that helped? Would love to hear your experiences! ❤️

Non Speaking

My Boy just turned 2 in September, my concern is that he still doesn't have any clear words, he points and gestures like hands me his empty bottle or grabs things he wants but doesn't verbally say anything... His hearing is fine I know that, he barely gets screen time either and I am trying my hardest to verbalize everything I do or repeat words when he wants something.. anybody else got this problem or advice?🫠

Speech Therapy

My LO had her 15 month ped appt and her ped said she should be saying 8-10 words…she is referring us to a speech therapist because she only says around 4-5 words (she babbles like crazy tho). FTM - should I be concerned? I thought every baby is different and develops speech at their own pace? Anyone in the same boat?

Help with night waking at 9 months

Any tips for getting my 9 month old to sleep through the night? He’s sleep trained and falls asleep independently, but still wakes up 3–4 times a night. What worked for you?
