I'm a 30 year old ftm and took my little one (whos 17 weeks) out today as I needed to do some shopping. He'd been a bit fussy this morning but seemed to calm down before I took him. He was quiet while I went to a few shops then I decided to stop for lunch as I hadn't eaten today. I literally only said to the little one are you okay youve been a bit quiet then he erupted into a full-blown meltdown screaming even when I tried feeding, winding and rocking. Loads of people commented on it and I was just so embarrassed I'd only taken one bite out of my food and instantly left whilst bursting into tears and couldnt stop crying. It took a good nearly two hours to settle him meaning i couldnt go back out to pick up my partner. For context I've been feeling very anxious about going out with the little one unless it's a necessity and so haven't really been going out much. Ive also been really struggling feeling low and overwhelmed. Ive asked my partner to help more by taking baby for an hour in the morning and evening after he works but he just sits on his phone and has to be told to take the child when i need to go to the toilet or cook etc. He also got very annoyed when i called him out on it and today when I've asked him to make his own way home from work has essentially made me feel worse.
Im just hoping someone has some advice or something as i feel like today's breakdown has been slowing looming these past few weeks

I try to think of every time I take baby out as practice. So I learn something every time, even if it doesn't go well - it doesn't mean it will be like that every time!

Good Morning First Time Mama, I know that having a partner that does not help when you asked is going to be a little hurtful. I see the male persona all in his actions wanting to relax after his work day and try and decompress. In your instance you will need to do a few things. First activate the mommy village and if you don’t have one build one. It may be grandparents, aunts, uncles, close friends or godparents that can give you a break because you do need some time to yourself and you know it. Second try a play date with him outside with another mom so you can get some time out there and may stop by a Kid friendly restaurant or go for ice cream afterward. Take two deep breaths and you got this!! I’ll be praying for you 🙏🏻

Just wanted to say this is totally normal and every mum goes through that anxiety. Keep pushing and pushing and you'll find ways of managing. For me personally I make sure I feed baby before I go out so I know he'll stay quiet for at least an hour. Plan where you'll go to eat and try and offer him a feed before he gets hungry. I find my son gets more needy in public as he's not used to being in a pram etc and it's all new and overwhelming for them so they want the comfort of being near you. If i know my son is teething and is just really unsettled generally then if he starts fussing I leave straight away, I just drop everything and leave because I know he just wants to cuddle me and I can't do that properly if I'm shopping so it won't be fun for either of us !

I can relate on so many levels with this one as my partner the baby daddy works and Im the full time parent to a 11 month old and when he gets home he doesn’t worry about his son, hes in the presence but hes involvement with the baby is bullshit the only thing he does is maybe feed him some food and occupy him with son goes to him that’s it i do and have done everything since he was born
But yet he wanted to start a family then he comes and he leaves me to figure everything out on my own
You’ll definitely have your breakdown but do talk to someone regularly because it will build up

The fussiness reminded me of teething. Both of my children started teething around 3-4 months old. I can assure you none of the experienced mamas judge you when your baby cries. We've all been there. And also do not care about what other people says. They are not in your shoes. xx
Can’t stop crying… just found out I’m expecting. I have a 7 yo son and a 15 month old daughter and up until a month or so ago I really wanted another, then I came to my senses and realised I’m already struggling, my plate is full I want to get back to being myself as I have really lost myself. My partner is how he is… help is limited interms or house work etc I do struggle to keep on top of everything already now I’m wondering how I’m going to cope this could break me. The reason I wanted another was for my youngest to have a sibling with a close age gap. Another worry is that I’m 36 I feel like I’m too old to do this again it’s going to take its toll and isn’t this classed as a geriatric pregnancy?. Any advice please 🙏🏽 xxxx

My sister-in-law (my brother-in-law’s wife) is a good person and has never been disrespectful towards me however not very friendly with me. She's been in the family for 10 years and I've been in the family for 4 years. She’s a GP but works part-time and takes care of most things related to the children and the household.
The thing is whenever she wants to arrange something like a day out with the kids or inviting us to their son’s birthday party she messages my husband rather than me. I find it a bit strange because I’m the mum too, so why are all these arrangements made through my husband?
I’m not English, but I communicate very well and have a full time job here so I def don’t think it’s a communication barrier!
I mentioned this to my husband and asked why she never messages me directly. I told him I find it strange but he said Im being sensitive and that she probably knows him better than she knows me

My 4m daughter is teething..I have gel, granuels and calpol. She’s constantly munching on her hand as she’s in pain and shoves her hand so far in she spits up. I’ve got her teether toys but she has a small mouth, sounds weird I know.. but she won’t take to them where they’re big. Any suggestions if anyone has had this issue?

I’ve been with my husband 4 years married 2. Over the last year our relationship has changed massively. We’ve gone from being like best friends, laughing, joking and cuddling. We always managed to live easily together and nothing felt like a chore. Now we argue constantly and when we don’t we just get on with our days and don’t really show any affection. Our arguments are bad, raised voices, saying things out of spite and making suggestions of one of us leaving. I’ll put my hands up to me causing some of these however my husband can be very provoking with his reactions and that then riles me up. It’s like we just don’t work together anymore. My 1 year old is definitely much more aware of these things now and I don’t want him being surrounded by tension or arguments. My husband is my first serious relationship so I’ve not experienced a break up before to know the signs it’s all going wrong or isn’t healthy anymore. We are so far from the couple we were I just don’t know how we’d ever get back to that point now.

Who else has a toddler and a newborn?
We pulled our toddler out of nursery for a couple of weeks she goes 3 days a week normally. They had a case of HFM and we had just brought our newborn home so thought we will keep her out.
It’s been two weeks and they are still getting cases of hand foot and mouth but my daughter is so out of routine and I can tell she wants to get back to nursery and get back to her usual activities.
I feel like I will just constantly have this anxiety of bugs throughout winter and feel like keeping her out isn’t going to help the situation.
Anyone got any advice dealing with this?
