Married to a black sheep (rant)

I have to leave everything behind and go with my husband to the US but he’s not really good with his family. They love our baby but me saying we can stay with them as long as we want til we get our own place but we and his family are not getting along well. We don’t have any big drama with each other but no matter what I do, I am just my husband wife. I feel so lonely living new life. I am grateful they provide us a place to live but I feel emotionally isolated. There’re sometimes I reach out if we can go to a coffee shop together, you know do some girls stuff but since I have a baby it’s hard for them cos my baby doesn’t like the car or I don’t have my own car so MIL and SIL would always just go together do they hair and nails, etc. I feel so out of the loop and lonely. For months their family group chat didn’t include me and if my husband showed what they were talking about MIL got mad like it was none of my business…
It’s not like I care or I’m chasing inclusion, I just need a friend.

Girl run I'm so serious

I’m so sorry you feel this way, it must’ve been hard dealing with all that.

First, you need to talk to your husband and be honest with him. He needs to know how they treat you.
Second, you need to move out of their house as soon as possible! Talk to your husband that you need to find any place else to stay in even if it’s a 1 bedroom apartment for now.

For your in laws, ignore them, don’t talk to them or ask them to take you anywhere. Find friends in your area and have your husband pay for your uber. Be strong and sit boundaries to yourself so no one can take advantage of you.

My husband loves me and he knows that I feel lonely. He couldn’t understand why his own family would be that bad but we never know.
We’re in the process of buying a house so it’s gonna take a while.

I thought staying with his family would be better for our child knowing grandparents and husband’s relationship with them. They are less detached since we have our baby tho.

But is it actually better if we move out?? At least they’re physically nearby, I’m afraid I will be more isolated if we move.

Settling baby

Does anyone else get really angry watching their husband or partner trying to settle their baby? We are going through witching hour and I’m trying not to take over, but watching him trying to settle the baby is infuriating!

What to do next.....

So my daughter is turning five months old soon and I want to do some special things with her before nursery, so far we have
Been to the aquarium
Booked a light trail at a garden centre with my best friend
Tomorrow is a pumpkin festival
Going to Chatsworth for the Christmas trail
And doing Blenheim Place (I found out after Chatsworth that they are doing my favourite fairy tale and it was too late to cancel Chatsworth)
Thinking of a bonfire party, got noise cancelling headphones ready
She's been to the sea side, Scotland, new Brighton, Yorkshire, some are because daddi was away with work and we were allowed to go up via train with him
I am thinking about a day at the farm or zoo? I know it's stupid but it's her first and I want to fill my days before I go back with special things
Also we are making Christmas baubles for everyone with her hands, I tried water play at home, going introduce paint and gloop in the new year, took her to her first soft play as they special baby section

Birthday plate

Hey all I made my son a birthday plate and I just wrote love from mum, not dad.
My partner is fuming and “heart broken” even though I told him I was doing it before I done it as a personal present from me to my son but he says he didn’t know I wasn’t going to add him. I showed him the plate when I done it and he said he liked it, when I picked it up I showed him he said he liked it but is saying he didn’t see me not write dad on it. Was I wrong to not put him on it aswell considering I was the one that made it and he didn’t come with me.

Eating/dinner dramas

I am having a nightmare with my 15 month old and dinner time. For context I do dinner, bath and bed alone 5 days a week due to my husbands shifts. Preparing dinner is a nightmare because she wants to be held constantly. I have a toddler tower which helps but it makes it quite stressful for me because she grabbing everything. I try and do some easier dinners mixed with fully homemade just to keep my sanity. But my main issue is she is just refusing to eat any substantial amount of dinner. She used to be a really good eater and now she’s become really fussy with food, if she could eat fruit and packaged snacks all day she would (I try to limit these for this reason). She also can climb out of her high chair and will stand up on it and sign finished after a few mouthfuls and then take my hand and take me to the snack cupboard after half an hour or so.

So I guess what I’m asking is 1. anyone in the same boat? Is this a phase? 2. Are there any really easy dinners you do that are a hit that I can try? 3. Does anyone have any tips/advice or words of wisdom as to how I can navigate this. 4. What are you doing if your LO doesn’t eat? Do we offer something else or is that making a bad habit? Should I limit fruit and snacks throughout the day so the sweet tooth can reduce a bit?

I genuinely don’t know how much more I can take and it’s really getting me down. She will tantrum and cry which means I then can’t eat my dinner because I’m dealing with her and it goes cold 🙃
