At wits end with 12 week old

Nights are hell. Eg we started trying to put him to sleep at 8:30 and he slept at 11pm (yday was midnight) Bear IN MIND WE COSLEEP SO IMAGINE IF WE DIDNT. he woke up at 12 so only slept 1h and we’ve been trying to put him down ever since. It’s now 2:30. We’re both in pain from rocking him for hours and exhausted. Health issues are covered. Doesn’t have cmpa- trialled already. Has reflux - on gaviscon and omeprazole. We want to give up. Don’t know what to do anymore.

Please don't give up ! You are doing an amazing job. It takes a village truly. Try white nose and gentle tummy massges, we do bicycle kicks to help things along. Sometimes we sing or just talk about our day. They love that x

You are doing fantastic - please don’t feel like you’re not! Maybe just try for 2 minutes putting little one down safely and walking away and getting a breather; they can sense if you’re tense too! Deffo agree on the white noise and a calm environment - currently 3am feed with sleep sounds on my phone too! How much Gaviscon are they on? my little one has also been prescribed it for reflux - I’ve heard too much can provide constipation so can you not use as many sachets? Bicycle legs, tummy massage, maybe a warm bath to ease? you got this superwoman! ❤️

White noise was a game changer for us!

If he’s on gaviscon like my little one (also 12 weeks) he can get very constipated and be exactly like this sometimes just inconsolable, we’ve had to reduce the dosage, he only has one sachet twice per day, and even then he still gets tummy pain!

We run through all of the typical, tummy time for a bit, a good tummy massage (sometimes he screams throughout but push through) gentle bicycle legs, a warm bath, try putting gripe water in his bottle, two droppers of infacol 10-15 minutes before a feed (only use two if its bad not regularly)

We’ve also discovered circular burping! This sometimes produces a poop instantly, sit him upright on your knee supporting chest and back/head, move in circular motion, he might scream throughout but it defo gets things moving and we have guaranteed burps everytime.

Reflux is awful, so I feel you x

This is normal
Remember he’s also still getting use to his environment
Take turns … one person sleeps when he wakes the first time and next person sleeps the next so you can get some sleep.
As difficult as it sounds try to sleep when he sleeps ..
And it does get better.. Ive got an almost 6 months old and getting better sleep
You will figure it out .. hang in there

12 weeks is still really little for a routine, but as someone who thrives off of a routine I completely get the desire/need to be in one!

At 12 weeks, my partner and I found it best to do shifts to help with the exhaustion - 4 hours on (8-12), 4 hours off (12-4) and 4 hours on (4-8)
It meant that each of us got at least 4 hours uninterrupted at a time. If the baby slept during your little shift that was a bonus too, but it was your wake up!
It’s a lonely way to do it, but it won’t be forever, I found talking to mums on here during my shift to be a godsend. But when it’s your shift, keep things dark and boring, eventually his circadian rhythm will adjust, and even if he doesn’t sleep perfectly, it will be better!

You’re doing nothing wrong, babies are crazy and everyone tells you about the sleep but you defo don’t get it until it’s happening to you 😭 but it absolutely will get better in time! Xx

Advice! Blood in babies poo!

Looking for advice!!!!

Hi, I’m looking for advice and wondering if anyone has experienced anything similar.

My little girl is 14 weeks old and exclusively breastfed. She went 3 days without pooing, during which she was straining a lot and screaming in pain when trying to go. I tried belly and foot massages, and eventually, on day 3 (Tuesday), she managed to go. She completely filled her nappy and then went another 6 times that day, 4 of which contained fresh red blood.

On Wednesday, she pooed another 5 times, with blood in one of them. I took her to the doctors, who said blood in babies’ poo can sometimes be normal. Doctor said she looked well, she also had no temperature or vomiting, and they didn’t suspect an infection, but sent off a stool sample to rule it out. This has since come back negative.

Yesterday she seemed more settled but wasn’t feeding properly, frequently unlatching. I also pump twice a day, so I tried offering expressed milk in a bottle, but she wouldn’t take that either.

Today has been much the same. She’s been really unsettled, still not feeding properly from either breast or bottle, skipping feeds completely or latching and unlatching constantly. This morning she was screaming in pain, then pooed and settled a little. However, this evening she’s had another small poo with some blood in it. Her poo has also been really mucusy, almost like snot.

I’m planning to take her back to the doctors on Monday, unless she gets worse or things continue like this tomorrow the I will take her to hospital.

I’m already struggling with postnatal anxiety, so this has been really worrying me. Has anyone else’s baby experienced anything similar?

She’s had plenty of wet nappies but despite this I’m still concerned as she’s not feeding good at all.

Also not sure if it’s linked but the other night 3.5 hours after a feed, whilst she was sleeping she started choking/gargling really quietly, I picked her up, patted her back and it resolved but no sick or anything came out.

Sorry for the long post and the pics, just desperate for advice.

Toddlers when outdoor - control?

Hello,

Does anyone else’s toddler want to roam free without holding your hand when in public. I.e outdoors/ shopping centres etc. mine refuses to hold my hand and when in the pram will literally scream and continue screaming even if it’s for a full 30 minutes straight. Oh boy, the stares I get are unbearable and make me feel like I’m a shit mum. I have no idea how to help her or with this situ. Any advice or tips greatly appreciated.

Nappy Cream

My daughter’s nursery have requested we keep a nappy cream in their bag that doesn’t contain any nut oil (I usually use bepanthen but that contains almond oil so isn’t allowed). Any recommendations, don’t want sudocream

Are there any other mamas struggling?

Hey guys, I’m from south wales and I have a beautiful daughter who’s nearly 3 and I’m finding it really tough. I’m trying to do it all, be a single mother, work part time and in part time education trying to get a good career but most days it all feels like too much. My daughter is in a phase where she just doesn’t listen and no matter how fun the activities I try to do with her are I end up wishing I never did them. I lose my patience really quickly some days and I often feel like people are watching me if I’m shopping etc and think I’m a horrible mother and honestly some days I feel like I’m a bad mother because I don’t feel like I’m around enough and when I am around I’m often stressed. I love my daughter more than anything but sometimes I wish I had my career sorted out before I had a child and I feel so much guilt and shame for feeling this way. My family often make comments about my parenting even though sometimes I don’t think they mean much by it but it still hurts when i genuinely am trying my best. I don’t have any mam friends or many friends in general who I can talk to about anything and I guess I’ve come here in hopes there’s at least one person that feels my struggles or have done in the past. Any words of wisdom would be much appreciated 🙏🫶

My husband affects my mental health

I do my best to have patience and manage the person he is. It’s tough but lately it’s just been very stressful. Anything I ask of him he responds something that I did or didn’t do. Our arguments lately he brings up my parents and their flaws and how I am with my parents. Is that okay??
