We have a 4y old boy, he started prek and I started doing uber, DoorDash, instacart to make some extra money. About 2 months ago I mentioned to my partner how I would love to take a day off for myself like I’ve seen other moms post about it, they book a hotel room and enjoy their peace for a day. I mentioned it to my partner and he said “Why a hotel? You can do that here at home?”. I tried to explain to him how I would like to have a day to go to bed without tucking anyone in and wake up not having to hear mom the moment I wake up, wake up without worrying about house chores, not worry about what’s gonna be for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I just want a day off of everything. He said that the hotel room idea is bs blah blah blah. I never said anything again!

Honestly a day off sounds nice . Lol I think you deserve it lol

Can you stay with a relative instead of going to a hotel?

I went to a King Spa, I think it cost like 20.00 a day. You could eat and nap and watch movies, read or just do nothing and all day. They even add other services like a massage or body scrub and more, but they have free access to pools, hot tubs, steam room, cold plunge, or dry saunas. The food is not included BTW.

I feel you. My partner is disabled and can't do solo childcare for too long so I'm the default parent for practical stuff. There's no way I could afford a hotel even if I could sort childcare overnight, but it sounds awesome. My partner still gets time to herself with no one needing anything from her so she doesn't understand how desperate I am for a break sometimes.

I personally wouldn't do a hotel (does sound nice tho). I would ask my partner to let me sleep in and go out for the day and be back in time for dinner/bedtime routine, watch a show or play a game and then go to bed at a decent time.

On the weekends my husband lets me sleep in and he takes care of everything in the morning. Ask your partner if they would be willing to do that for you.

You should book a night away

If you have 3 side hustles going to make extra cash, a hotel room maaaaaaay be a bit out of budget, so I agree with your partner. You DO deserve a break every once in a while though! Ask for a little staycation and take a day or at least a couple of hours to veg out at home!
This might be stupid but my 13 month old starts nursery 3 days a week tomorrow and, since she'll be starting at 8am, they'll be giving her breakfast.
But I have to wake my daughter up at half 6 and drop her with my mum at 7 so thats a really long time for her to not eat. Should i get her a smaller breakfast at home to tie her over to nursery breakfast or should i just give her her normal breakfast and then if she doesn't eat the nursery breakfast its not really an issue?
How do other people play this?

My 18 month old eats so fast, like he'll put more in his mouth before he swallowed the last mouthful. It's getting to the point where he's chocking/gagging every meal.
I have no idea what to do to slow him down, tried giving him little bits at a time but he just gets annoyed and impatient!

Does anyone actually manage to eat out with their just turned 2 year old? We went out at lunchtime today for my mums birthday and it was chaos from the minute we got there. In the end we ate, and then left. We took toys with us, colouring etc but she just wants to run around, which I know is normal but it just makes family things so difficult.

I'm not sure if social media is just really making me feel like a crappy parent but lately I have been feeling really guilty that my youngest and eldest will have to share a bedroom, Probably until one of our kids moves out to be honest.
There's exactly five years between them so someday they'll be 10&15,12&17 etc and I know they'll be at each other's throats but we just don't have the money to move house again and I don't see it being likely. Baby number 3 wasn't planned and since then my partners had the snip and will be regularly checked to make sure it doesn't happen again. But social media has really started making me feel like I'm a terrible parent for having another child without having another bedroom for them.
I shared with 2 sisters growing up and although we would fight like cat and dog, I didn't hate it and don't hate that my parents didn't have more bedrooms for us.
I don't know what I'm looking for out of this post, it's just really got up in my head that I'm failing them ☹️

Looking for suggestions on pram & dog friendly walks in the Lake District with somewhere nice to grab food after.
Would be travelling from Preston and baby is only 5 weeks so not too far up for time in the carseat! 😊
