Why does the school guilt you into paying for extras your child cannot do?

My twins are in senior kindergarten.
One has autism level 1 and my son is autism level 3.
Neither will likely be interested in painting something from crockadoodle.
I think I got the paper in their mail bag but I threw it out because I didn't want to pay for something they can't do or won't be interested in. Today we got a guilt email that 7 children haven't paid and we should get that done. I don't want to pay for extras to be done at school. Why can't they just do some coloring. I feel like it's a cash grab that we have to break down and pay. So I'm $25 poorer because it's apparently a problem i need them to do. My son is absolutely not capable of painting this thing. I'm disappointed and discouraged because it's a waste of money in our tight budget.

I would contact the school to let them know I would not be paying for something my children won't participate in and that I cannot afford. I would assume most schools would be some level of understanding? But I'm also not yet dealing with school aged stuff.

This is terrible. In the UK we have school governors to talk to if needed to escalate concerns that have not been addressed. Don't let them bully you. You wouldn't ask a parent of a child who cannot see to pay for books for sighted children instead of braille. They should be getting resources your son can be supported to use or not expecting you to pay.

My husband just told me he is embarrassed by me

We are on holiday with my 1 year old baby! I was washing few things outside on the bathroom which is outdoor, and he kept calling me because the baby was crying! I shouted and said “omg why instead of you shouting at me you do something to keep your baby calm” he grabbed me through my arm and started shouting “ why are you always shouting! I am constantly embarrassed by you!” He said some many hurtful things that it’s not even worth mentioned! But the thing is, I feel he is a good guy but he actually doesn’t love me! So he feels frustrated! I just don’t know how I will start my life over! Just for context, we do not fight all the time! We do get along pretty well! But when he is frustrated I feel he liberates his hidden hatred! I just don’t know what to do! I know tnrw he will say sorry that he loves me bla bla!

Partner cheated on me - next steps?

Has anyone been cheated on and stayed and things got better?

My partner cheated on me last night. She came home really late and seemed a bit flighty, after a lengthy conversation she explained that a few drinks led from one thing to another and it all “just happened”. And if it was a kiss maybe I could get past it, but it was sex and I’m struggling.

I don’t want to make rash decisions and leave her but I’m struggling to process it all. I have 3 kids who rely on me so I don’t get a chance to grieve my relationship, I just have to carry on and I have no friends to tell. She’s gone to her friends house for a few days to give me space and I’ve had a headache and nausea that’s not shifted. I’m just really heartbroken rn and maybe it would be easy to move on if she was horrible but she’s not, she’s amazing with our kids, she’s always done everything for me and I just don’t know where to go from here.

I don’t want to hear that I should leave her, I want to hear from people who have gone through this and things eventually got better

Is this worth reporting or am I overthinking it?

My daughter has a shared bus stop. There’s another little girl at the stop, and I’d like to talk about what I witnessed this morning and if this is something you’d report.

Today, I witnessed the mom search her daughter’s back pack at the bus stop and confiscated a hairbrush. She told her daughter school is not a fashion show and she’s not allowed to brush her hair. The little girls hair is matted and she told her mom the teacher could fix it and asked her to bring a brush, so the mom went off the wall that she’s going to get the teacher fired and open a lawsuit against the school for inappropriately touching her child without consent. Her daughter asked if she could please just brush her hair so the other girls didn’t say she looked scruffy, and mom told her once again school is about learning and not a fashion show. She then said a he’d make her a hair appointment to cut it all off so they didn’t have to worry about the matting, but the girl was crying she just wanted to brush it out and have long pretty hair. Her mom was very angry and told her again it’s not a fashion show. She got on the bus crying, with no hair brush and it was left untouched.

I’ve seen other small things before, like not letting her take her backpack to school and the little girl crying that she’d get in trouble for not having it and the man (not sure if it’s her dad) telling her it’s her fault, even though they had plenty of time to go back for the backpack.

I mean I know people parent differently, but this just felt cruel. Brushing your hair is about hygiene not fashion. Am i overreacting?

Frustrated

Frustrated and venting. Not looking for the standard “divorce him” comment.

Told my husband sorry for blaming him for something and he said “you’re always wrong” with such smug conviction. Which pissed me off and makes me not want to do a damn thing for him.

I have a lot of other things I could say but for respect to God I won’t 🙄.

Just mad and didn’t want to hold this one in.

Relationship problems

My fiancé has told me twice now he doesn't think I'm doing a good enough job or enough as a mom and I've disappointed him. Our son is 5 weeks old tomorrow. His main complaint is that I don't seem happy enough when he gets home from work and I act like spending all day raising our son is a chore and he would like time to relax after work instead of me immediately asking him to do something or "bombarding him as soon as he walks in the door". I handle all the night feedings, he's done it twice since he was born to let me sleep, and he's gotten up with him in the morning twice. He was upset with me on Saturday for asking him to get up with him at 8:30 so I could sleep in because he wanted just one day to sleep in. I understand his frustration but I don't think I deserved that. I'm a first time mom, I'm still figuring this all out, and I just had a c-section 5 weeks ago, and I havent slept more than 3 hours straight since he was born because even on the nights he gets up with him I have to pump. I am excited when he gets home from work because I have a person to talk to and someone to share this with. I see why he's frustrated but I don't think he's giving me enough grace or putting himself in my perspective. He says I feel like a stranger to him now, he's disappointed, and he's not sure he wants to marry me anymore. I don't know what to do.

How to get my son to stop watching tv?

My son is 2. I’m solo parenting. I work 9-5 remote. When he wakes up from his nap around 2-3pm I struggle to keep him entertained until I finish my shift so end up putting the tv on. He now is getting upset when I turn it off and is now watching it longer than I’d like him to. He is watching on average 2 hours a day when I’d prefer him to watch less than 1 hour as per guidelines. Any at home activities I can set up for him? Pls recommend!!! I’m desperate!!!!
