What were you doing when you went into spontaneous labour?

What were you up to when your waters broke or the first few contractions started?

I’m 40+1 waiting for something to happen and just trying to pass some time so tell me your stories 😂

I was asleep!

Avatar

I was at work with my first 🤣 thought my work chair was causing back ache and I was just extra grouchy that morning. My colleague kept staring at me and then said “I don’t mean to worry you but you sound like my wife did when she was in labour”. Turns out I was making low noises and the whole team (nearly all dads) were on edge 🤣 Called my husband, walked to the hospital nearby and was plugged in for monitoring. Turns out I was in labour and she was born that night

I felt unwell the whole day. A bit unsettled and tired. I also had a bit of pink discharge, but I had that before, so I wasn't too worried (mucus plug can go off). Then during the night I needed to pee, but when I sat up a bit of water came out. It got more and more every minute, when I walked around in the house to get dressed. Was another 30ish hours until the actual birth though and I also didn't got lot of sleep the night before 😬

I was sleeping when the contractions started and i didn’t even know they were contractions cuz it started in my back. And then about 18 hours later my water broke and conveniently i was in the shower lol

Waters don’t always break until in labour!
I was about to settle down to sleep for the night, last wee before sleep and bloody show when wiping, contractions started from there!

I was asleep - but that day I had put all the Christmas decorations up by myself and went for a really long walk in the evening.
I’m convinced that’s why she came two weeks early 🎄

Insomnia one year PP

Hi, just wondering if anyone else is suffering with insomnia. I’m one year PP, my son hasn’t yet slept through the night so we’re still waking quite a bit. I can fall asleep but once I’ve been awake too many times that’s it I’m awake then. I was awake from 1:30-7am last night and I’ve had just under 3 hours tonight. I just cannot get back to sleep and I think I might go crazy. I’ve tried staying off my phone, putting something on to help me sleep but nope. I just lie there wide awake. I don’t drink much caffeine through the day now either. Any tips or tricks? Or do I just need to accept my fate.

Baby measuring small / further growth scans

So at my 20 week scan, baby was measuring on the 8th percentile but the ultrasound tech said baby looks healthy (organs and other measurements etc.) and the uterine Doppler and blood flow to baby are fine and within range. However, because baby is under the 10th percentile they want me to have additional scans at 28, 32, 36 and 40 weeks.

I know these scans are just to see if everything is ok but I went down this route with my first baby (for the opposite - being too big) and they picked up on the smallest of details to worry about and I felt forced into giving birth early, thinking about induction and c section (which ultimately did end up in cs).

I would love a VBAC/HBAC this time, and know I have the right to decline these scans etc. but I’m conflicted as I want to make sure baby is healthy but I also don’t want to feel like they’re deciding how birth is going to go for me.

Has anyone had a small for gestational age baby and everything been fine? Anyone declined growth scans and all be ok? Just after some advice on what I should do as my head is spinning at the moment with all the possibilities…

Sweep

Had my first sweep done yesterday at 38 weeks and had the tiniest amount of light blood that disappeared and the odd period like cramps. They got worse overnight but still like intense period like cramps that I did struggle with when moving around in bed or getting up to go to the bathroom but have disappeared now it’s morning. It was probably about 17/18 hours ago I had my sweep and the midwife said I was 1cm dilated, my cervix was about a 2/3 and my bishops score was about a 3/4 out of 10. Is this normal? My first was a planned section due to complications but this time round there have been none.

Nights and baby blues

My baby is a week old!
I’m breastfeeding and I just find it so lonely but I love her so much and love spending time with her. I feel like I can only feed and that’s all I do all day. I’m exhausted because nighttime is rough. My partner helps the best he can. The baby blues are hitting and I could cry at anything, missing her even though I’m holding her, not wanting her to grow up, and then anxiety about not having a job. Anyway, I just needed to vent and we all got this!

Helpppp!
I’m 28 weeks pregnant and I’ve got a scan at 8am (it’s 1am here) I’ve just noticed the tiniest spot of red blood in my underwear and I’m scared, tried to call triage and my midwife but no one is picking up

Symptoms are period pains and abit of back pain, I can still feel him kicking so that’s good. What should I do??? Is this normal 😭
