Baby measuring small / further growth scans

So at my 20 week scan, baby was measuring on the 8th percentile but the ultrasound tech said baby looks healthy (organs and other measurements etc.) and the uterine Doppler and blood flow to baby are fine and within range. However, because baby is under the 10th percentile they want me to have additional scans at 28, 32, 36 and 40 weeks.

I know these scans are just to see if everything is ok but I went down this route with my first baby (for the opposite - being too big) and they picked up on the smallest of details to worry about and I felt forced into giving birth early, thinking about induction and c section (which ultimately did end up in cs).

I would love a VBAC/HBAC this time, and know I have the right to decline these scans etc. but I’m conflicted as I want to make sure baby is healthy but I also don’t want to feel like they’re deciding how birth is going to go for me.

Has anyone had a small for gestational age baby and everything been fine? Anyone declined growth scans and all be ok? Just after some advice on what I should do as my head is spinning at the moment with all the possibilities…

I had to have additional scans as I was high risk, but at my 20 week scan my baby was in the 6th percentile. By 32 weeks they were worried as she had a massive growth spurt within 2 weeks, ultimately she was born a solid 9lb at 39 weeks.

My little girl has just turned 2. I had so many scans for her femur length. She's perfectly proportional just small. I'm 4ft 11 so it's likely genetic for us. However that certainly doesn't stop her. I remember worrying everytime at the scans. She was born around the 2-5% & still is around that. But is healthy & thriving. Hope everything goes well ♥️

You can always take the growth scans to keep an eye on babies growth, then request a referral to the birth choice clinic, which is for people who are wanting to plan a birth outside hospital ‘standard guidelines’ arm yourself with all the facts, and advocate for yourself! Sometimes they can be soo pushy! But some babies are just small! As long as they are growing week by week and everything else is healthy you should have the birth you choose!

I had this with both my pregnancies, my son was born in 2024, was told he was on the 7th centile and had short femurs, estimated birth weight was 5lbs 8ozs, was brought in at 39 weeks to be induced, 5 days later, I had my son via emergency c section, I was prepared from him to be taken to NICU, he came out 7lbs, perfectly healthy, then with my daughter in 2025 I was having extra growth scans due to a higher BMI, everything was fine until 30 weeks when I was told she’d dropped down on the centiles and was on the 4th, estimated weight of 6lbs 4ozs, through my whole pregnancy I had been preparing for a VBAC with the support of all teams, then at 38 weeks I was told she had static growth between 37-38 weeks, they tried to force me into having a c section at 38 weeks but I refused, I wanted the opportunity to give birth so they broke my water at 39 weeks, nothing happened so it ended in another c section, she came out 6lbs 9ozs again perfectly healthy, home the next day with both baby’s

What they fail to tell most people is there’s a margin of error with scans up to 15%, with my son I took everything they said as gospel and went along with it but as they were wrong I was more declined to assume they were wrong again with my daughter, it’s very hard as you don’t want to take the risk when it’s all unknown, but just trust your gut, go for the extra scans they’re offering but don’t let them force you into anything you don’t want, I refused the c section early with my daughter and instead they offered me weekly scans, but they will not offer you anything alternative unless you ask x

My little girl was in the 2nd percentile and I was in hospital almost every week for scans, pregnancy day care etc, she was and is perfectly healthy, just small! I had a c section due to her being small and she decided the last month she wanted to be breech! Had her at 37 weeks 2 days and she weighed 5lb 2oz

Insomnia one year PP

Hi, just wondering if anyone else is suffering with insomnia. I’m one year PP, my son hasn’t yet slept through the night so we’re still waking quite a bit. I can fall asleep but once I’ve been awake too many times that’s it I’m awake then. I was awake from 1:30-7am last night and I’ve had just under 3 hours tonight. I just cannot get back to sleep and I think I might go crazy. I’ve tried staying off my phone, putting something on to help me sleep but nope. I just lie there wide awake. I don’t drink much caffeine through the day now either. Any tips or tricks? Or do I just need to accept my fate.

Sweep

Had my first sweep done yesterday at 38 weeks and had the tiniest amount of light blood that disappeared and the odd period like cramps. They got worse overnight but still like intense period like cramps that I did struggle with when moving around in bed or getting up to go to the bathroom but have disappeared now it’s morning. It was probably about 17/18 hours ago I had my sweep and the midwife said I was 1cm dilated, my cervix was about a 2/3 and my bishops score was about a 3/4 out of 10. Is this normal? My first was a planned section due to complications but this time round there have been none.

Nights and baby blues

My baby is a week old!
I’m breastfeeding and I just find it so lonely but I love her so much and love spending time with her. I feel like I can only feed and that’s all I do all day. I’m exhausted because nighttime is rough. My partner helps the best he can. The baby blues are hitting and I could cry at anything, missing her even though I’m holding her, not wanting her to grow up, and then anxiety about not having a job. Anyway, I just needed to vent and we all got this!

Helpppp!
I’m 28 weeks pregnant and I’ve got a scan at 8am (it’s 1am here) I’ve just noticed the tiniest spot of red blood in my underwear and I’m scared, tried to call triage and my midwife but no one is picking up

Symptoms are period pains and abit of back pain, I can still feel him kicking so that’s good. What should I do??? Is this normal 😭
