Insomnia one year PP

Hi, just wondering if anyone else is suffering with insomnia. I’m one year PP, my son hasn’t yet slept through the night so we’re still waking quite a bit. I can fall asleep but once I’ve been awake too many times that’s it I’m awake then. I was awake from 1:30-7am last night and I’ve had just under 3 hours tonight. I just cannot get back to sleep and I think I might go crazy. I’ve tried staying off my phone, putting something on to help me sleep but nope. I just lie there wide awake. I don’t drink much caffeine through the day now either. Any tips or tricks? Or do I just need to accept my fate.

No tips or tricks here unfortunately but im 6 months pp and the exact same. Other than my LO sleeps through. But I find myself lying here awake for 3/4 hours just dropping back off as LO wakes 🙈 you’re not alone here ☺️🤦🏼‍♀️

Hi I’m exactly same 2y pp. The only things that helped was my husband took over the night shifts around 18month if that’s at all available to you? This was because he can sleep anywhere, anytime and yes our daughter was waking up a few times but he could settle her fairly quickly. Once his head touched the pillow he was back to being fast asleep so it really wasn’t the biggest deal to him. Whereas if I woke up I’d then be awake for hours which almost seemed unfair on me which thankfully he recognised. We wished we started it sooner. So now that I don’t physically get up it helps me to stay sleepy and drift back off. Also magnesium body butter helped and I listen to the calm app with headphones on to their sleep stories instead of looking at my phone. All this may not work for you but it worked for me Xx

Before having my LO I always struggled to switch off and sleep. I find reading really helps as it stops me from ‘thinking’. I try to read familiar books so they aren’t too interesting or stimulating. I eventually got to the point where I would only need to read a couple of pages before I was drifting.
I have a kindle which is good as means I don’t need a light in.

No tips as unfortunately we are in the same position and we co sleep on a floor bed. Shes also breast fed so she just helps herself throughout the night. Our girl is then always walking off and screeching 🤣 she also struggles with naps in the day etc. Its just a bit of a cheeky cycle atm. Eventually though they won't need us in the night and they will sleep better etc. I'm currently sat with her watching Flushed Away. I think because we've tried everything and if she won't settle I just take it as the start of the day 🤣

Long term use of Magnesium glycinate (also known as magnesium bisglycinate) is the best form of magnesium for trouble falling asleep.

Exhausted

I feel like I am about to burn out, I don’t get any time at all where I can switch off, I don’t get a break and I feel awful saying that, she is my child so obviously I should be the one to care for her.
My partner goes to the football every week, he plays on his Xbox at home and gets his own free time, I get none, I don’t get to go out without her.
My parents don’t seem to want her now that she’s now a sleepy newborn anymore.

She is an awful sleeper so I barely sleep and I just feel like I’m about to completely burn out 😢

Nights and baby blues

My baby is a week old!
I’m breastfeeding and I just find it so lonely but I love her so much and love spending time with her. I feel like I can only feed and that’s all I do all day. I’m exhausted because nighttime is rough. My partner helps the best he can. The baby blues are hitting and I could cry at anything, missing her even though I’m holding her, not wanting her to grow up, and then anxiety about not having a job. Anyway, I just needed to vent and we all got this!

Want to give birth again

Ok maybe I’m psychotic, but had a VBAC as always wanted to experience birth, and it was traumatic and incredibly painful, as expected. Yet the power and intensity of that moment when you have gone through all of the pain to be passed the most precious little thing in the world. It’s incredible. Only plan on having two kids so not going to go through it again but feeling sad that il never experience this again. Am I crazy? Or is this relatable at all?

Sweep

Had my first sweep done yesterday at 38 weeks and had the tiniest amount of light blood that disappeared and the odd period like cramps. They got worse overnight but still like intense period like cramps that I did struggle with when moving around in bed or getting up to go to the bathroom but have disappeared now it’s morning. It was probably about 17/18 hours ago I had my sweep and the midwife said I was 1cm dilated, my cervix was about a 2/3 and my bishops score was about a 3/4 out of 10. Is this normal? My first was a planned section due to complications but this time round there have been none.

1st Birthday Party, but with more adults than kids

We're thinking we want to invite Aunties/Uncles, Grandparents, friends etc to celebrate, but with it being January there would be nowhere near enough space in our house to host. We also don't just want to have an adult party in a pub, or a kids party with more adults than children in a soft play, so we're finding it really tricky to figure out how to have a children's party with some entertainment, but also cater for a lot of adults mingling. Does anyone have any ideas?

We're in the South West London area if anyone has a specific venue to mention.
