Exhausted

I feel like I am about to burn out, I don’t get any time at all where I can switch off, I don’t get a break and I feel awful saying that, she is my child so obviously I should be the one to care for her.
My partner goes to the football every week, he plays on his Xbox at home and gets his own free time, I get none, I don’t get to go out without her.
My parents don’t seem to want her now that she’s now a sleepy newborn anymore.

She is an awful sleeper so I barely sleep and I just feel like I’m about to completely burn out 😢

I’m so sorry for you, that sounds awful. Have you been able to speak to your partner at all about taking on some more fatherly responsibility and allowing you to rest and recuperate?

I’m sorry lovely. It sounds like you need a rest and a break. Have you spoken to your partner about this because he should be helping you to have some time to recharge.

Hello,

Your situation sounds very similar to mine. Partner leaves for work at 5am gets home at 5pm. Then requires a wash, dinner and ‘rest’ which takes him till 7pm by which my baby then wouldn’t go to him as he’s so tired and wants the comfort of mummy. I cared for my child by myself with migraines.

I don’t know how old your baby is but my little one starting sleeping for 2 hour stretches from 3 months old so I started getting a bit more sleep. He’s now 6 months and im not getting more sleep but he is so much easier to care for. I am able to put him down to play for 5-10 minutes at a time while I clean and cook.

I really recommend looking for free activities to go to. Your local library will most probably do rhyme time or your local churches normally do stay and play which are often £1-2. Something you enjoy doing every week that makes you get out the house. Or if you have a bit more income pay for a class when baby a little older.

It is really hard but it does get better!

Can you afford a mothers help to get a few hours of you time a week (3 hours once a week would make all the difference)? If your partner gets to spend money on football games etc you should be able to invest in your mental wellbeing too.

Insomnia one year PP

Hi, just wondering if anyone else is suffering with insomnia. I’m one year PP, my son hasn’t yet slept through the night so we’re still waking quite a bit. I can fall asleep but once I’ve been awake too many times that’s it I’m awake then. I was awake from 1:30-7am last night and I’ve had just under 3 hours tonight. I just cannot get back to sleep and I think I might go crazy. I’ve tried staying off my phone, putting something on to help me sleep but nope. I just lie there wide awake. I don’t drink much caffeine through the day now either. Any tips or tricks? Or do I just need to accept my fate.

Nights and baby blues

My baby is a week old!
I’m breastfeeding and I just find it so lonely but I love her so much and love spending time with her. I feel like I can only feed and that’s all I do all day. I’m exhausted because nighttime is rough. My partner helps the best he can. The baby blues are hitting and I could cry at anything, missing her even though I’m holding her, not wanting her to grow up, and then anxiety about not having a job. Anyway, I just needed to vent and we all got this!

Want to give birth again

Ok maybe I’m psychotic, but had a VBAC as always wanted to experience birth, and it was traumatic and incredibly painful, as expected. Yet the power and intensity of that moment when you have gone through all of the pain to be passed the most precious little thing in the world. It’s incredible. Only plan on having two kids so not going to go through it again but feeling sad that il never experience this again. Am I crazy? Or is this relatable at all?

Sweep

Had my first sweep done yesterday at 38 weeks and had the tiniest amount of light blood that disappeared and the odd period like cramps. They got worse overnight but still like intense period like cramps that I did struggle with when moving around in bed or getting up to go to the bathroom but have disappeared now it’s morning. It was probably about 17/18 hours ago I had my sweep and the midwife said I was 1cm dilated, my cervix was about a 2/3 and my bishops score was about a 3/4 out of 10. Is this normal? My first was a planned section due to complications but this time round there have been none.

1st Birthday Party, but with more adults than kids

We're thinking we want to invite Aunties/Uncles, Grandparents, friends etc to celebrate, but with it being January there would be nowhere near enough space in our house to host. We also don't just want to have an adult party in a pub, or a kids party with more adults than children in a soft play, so we're finding it really tricky to figure out how to have a children's party with some entertainment, but also cater for a lot of adults mingling. Does anyone have any ideas?

We're in the South West London area if anyone has a specific venue to mention.
