Am I being a brat??

PLEASE can someone help me rationalise, or tell me I’m being silly-either way🤣

My baby is 6 months old today, I kept sending my partner and my family cakes etc that celebrated 6 months of breast feeding, I hinted in jokey ways that I wanted a mini celebration for baby turning 6 months old but also to recognise that I’ve EBF for 6 months.

I know so many mothers do it, it’s very normal, but I’m personally so so proud that I’ve breastfed for this long, I’ve had mastitis 3x, suspected sepsis and an MRSA infection of my scar. Not once did I waiver.

I usually feel so appreciated by my partner. But I’ve had messages etc today saying happy 6 months to baby, but not a single message to recognise the fact that I’ve independently kept him nourished this whole time?🤣

I’m emotional today so if someone tells me I’m being dramatic, it’s probably what I need to hear lol.

I think what youre feeling is valid, but equally none of those people have been through that journey themselves (or at least very recently) to think of something like this.

I think social media can make us feel like these things are normal or spontaneous cakes etc are what everyone is doing. In 99% of cases it probably isn't 😅

But saying that, if you want something there's nothing wrong with explicitly asking for it. While its not as nice as being surprised with it, at least the expectations are out in the air... and then if they are ignored then being bratty is the valid response! 🤣

I’m 5 months in EBF and I’ve also formula fed my first son due to a severe CMPA allergy (it didn’t filter out of my milk quick enough and his nappies were full of blood). Anyway, I can say that EBF is HARDDDD. It’s so hard.

I personally don’t think you’re being a brat as such. I think your partner should at least acknowledge your efforts (even in a way that isn’t the same as how you think it should be). It doesn’t need a be a big thing or money doesn’t need to be spent, even a letter to show gratitude and appreciation would have been enough.

Delving even deeper, it’s a tale as old as time. Like postpartum for example, the mother carries and gives birth to the baby and everyone wants to hold the baby and not the mother.

Well done to you, congrats on 6 months EBF. An absolutely huge achievement. Look up how many calories you would have burnt on average and look at how many litres of milk your body would have produced! Mind blowing 🤯

Buying Second Hand

Morning!
I’m going to be a ftm, and I love a good Vinted or charity shop savings !
I was wondering what are items I should absolutely AVOID buying second hand and just take the splurge and buy brand new ? Some people have told me not to buy buggies and bassinets etc second hand ? Just want to know if that’s true or if it’s their preference they’re putting on to me lol !
TIA ❤️

Pram bag

Has anyone got any recommendations for a smaller pram bag?
Little boy no longer has bottles, and eats out a lot!!
Needing a small bag that I can fit a few nappies, wipes, couple snacks, and a change of clothes!

Sterilising breast pump

Hi all, I’m EBF my 8w4d old baby but I’m pumping breast milk so my husband can give him a bottle/build a stash so I can go out etc. I’ve been sterilising my pump parts after every use but obvs this is time consuming. My LO is healthy, born at 39 weeks. I’ve read that you just need to sterilise parts every 24 hours then wash in between? Would I be okay washing with Milton bottle wash and then putting them in the steriliser overnight? I have a steriliser/drier thing! Thank you x

What would you do

Ever since starting nursery in June, my little one has really struggled to sleep when there. I’ve had countless conversations with numerous staff, gone through his routines and the nursery really have listened and tried to replicate as much as they can. However it’s now evident that the setting in which the babies sleep in just isn’t suited to my sons sleep needs and no matter how much of a routine is tried he just won’t ever manage to sleep. I’ve been so upset and angry this evening as after a long 8hr day my son has had no daytime sleep at all. At home he is still mostly needing 2 naps a day and this is the first time he has ever gone without anything at all. I don’t know what more I can do now as I don’t feel I can continue sending him in when the sleep issues are worsening. He has gone to bed and I’m really hoping he hasn’t got too overtired and will settle down for the night☹️
