Hi mamas, I'm a SAHM with a 20-mo old boy and find it mentally really hard. I'm naturally someone who needs quite a bit of mental stimulation and the repetitive days are just killing me. I go to playgroups and toddler activties 3-4 times a week but it somehow isn't enough for me. And I feel like I've lost the joy and spark I used to have pre-baby. I love him and he makes me smile every day but I'm also drained and feeling low and lonely and can't appreciate this time with him enough. Part of the problem is that we moved cities 6 months ago for my partner's job and I don't yet have any close friends and my family and old friends are far away. I just feel like my life insn't very interesting for myself at the moment.
If there's anyone who can relate or has gone through similar emotions, I'd love to hear any tricks, hacks, solutions, mental shifts you might have found to help. Thank you for reading ❤️

I think it’s important to remember that becoming a mom doesn’t mean you have to lose the person you were before having your baby. You can love being a mother more than anything and still miss yourself, your freedom, spontaneity, and having things that are just for you. Both feelings can exist at the same time.I think finding little pieces of yourself again is so important. Make time for hobbies, explore new places, try new things, have adult conversations, build friendships, and find things that give you something to look forward to outside of motherhood.
We put so much pressure on ourselves to cherish every second, but not every season is going to feel fulfilling. You’re allowed to feel lonely, bored, or drained without feeling guilty. Your life doesn’t have to stop being interesting because you became a mom. You can be an amazing mother while still having your own identity, dreams, and things that make you happy. ❤️

Pick up a new hobby (painting, pottery, reading, photography, baking).
Take a class just for yourself .
Start a new fitness routine, Pilates, yoga, or dance.
Get dressed up and take yourself on a solo date.
Start a book club or join one.
Learn something new, even if it's completely unrelated to motherhood.
Have a personal project you're working toward.

Explore a new coffee shop or restaurant.
Visit a farmers market.
Go to museums, botanical gardens, or local events.
Take spontaneous day trips to nearby towns.
Try a new walking trail every week.
Find a mom friend to do regular outings with.
Go to a pottery painting or candle-making studio.

Do you live in a big city where you could get out and explore? We moved to a very large city a few months ago and also don’t have any friends or family nearby. Every day in the late morning my daughter and I go on an adventure of some sort. Check out a new park, library, walk around a town square, new shop. And we make it different every day. The rest of the day we keep a routine for meals, naps, craft tjme, etc to make sure we also have stability from day to day :)

Join a local women's group.
Try Bumble BFF to meet new friends.
Host a monthly girls' night.
Find a regular workout buddy.
Invite another mom for lunch without making the entire outing about the kids.
Plan regular phone calls with old friends.

I've found I feel like my cup is filled the most when we do one on one playdates at either of our houses so the kids can safely play and we can have adult conversation. Any other kind of toddler activity or outdoor play etc is just running round after our kids. I'm a SAHM with a 21 month old and no village so I'm with her 24/7 and having just that hour adult interaction without helicopter parenting is bliss.
Does anyone else feel like if their baby is awake their crying? Even feeding is a nightmare and he cries throughout it just taking a couple sips at a time. Doctors and health visitors say he's fine as gaining weight and just to ride it out basically but it's so difficult! I'm jealous of all the mums that can take their babies out for walks etc., I can't as he'll just cry and by the time I've finished the cycle of a nap (always contact nap), feed and finally get him to stop crying etc he wants to sleep again, it's making me feel so isolated. Are any other mums in the same boat? How do you cope?! I can't even eat for most of the day or get anything done in the house until my partner gets home as hes either sleeping on me or feeding or having a meltdown. I feel so guilty all the time and also feel robbed of the experience of these early months. I know there's probably no solution, I guess I just need a vent or not feel so alone :(

My daughter is 17 months old and may I mention that just because she’s a girl it doesn’t make it any easier, girl or boy. Toddlers are hard work!!
I want to check in with all toddler mums because I know for a fact I’m not the only mum that’s sitting in a corner pulling their hair out 😂
Took my daughter to rhyme time today at the library and the first 15 minutes were great, she was going up to everyone and said hi, was just really happy until she wanted to escape and leave the library, it was awful. All the mums were looking at me in horror as I pick her up to take her back into the library and she screamed, scratched my face, threw a toy at my face and was hitting me with full force 🥲my child is genuinely so feral I can’t take her there anymore.
I got home and gave her a nap and then I went downstairs to just cry because it was super overwhelming, the stacks of washing that need doing, the endless tasks of needing to go back out and grab things, on top of a little madam that isn’t having her day today. All of it just got ontop of me, I handle things quite well but today it’s felt impossible.
Reality of having a little girl who is so on it, it can be so exhausting.
How has everyone else’s day gone so far? How are we coping?

Idk how my toddler is going to sleep, my cat is absolutely terrified all for these tramps to look at gunpowder in the fkn sky

Is anyone else’s husband/boyfriend terrible at soothing the baby? I keep feeling like I need to let them work it out but at the same time I can see they are both having an awful time and it’s hard not to intervene. I hate seeing baby crying and he instantly stops when I grab him, but I also know I need to let my husband learn to deal with it so it is really hard to know what to do.

My baby will turn 1 year in January, and I resume full-time work at 7 to 7(I will enquire about flexible working) if I can start from 8am since the childminder and nursery I have contacted starts at 7:30. My partner has flexible working already start at 10am but the downside is that he got a job very far where he has to leave early and drive. Basically, drop off and pick up,I have to be present. He works Monday to Thursday. My working days varies including both day shift and night shifts. Any advice or enlightenment is much welcome, I feel so lost, and my heart is breaking for my little one.

What’s everyone giving their LO’s for breakfast if you’ve started weaning? We go between yoghurt and porridge with fruit at the moment, I’ve seen people say about weetabix so might add that soon.
My LG reacted to egg so that’s out of the question for now unfortunately - was planning to rely on that a lot so feeling a bit limited now so any other ideas welcome!
