So overwhelmed and exhausted

I just need to vent because I am so overwhelmed right now. My boyfriend got hurt at work two weeks ago today, and they suspect he has a hernia. Because it’s a workers’ comp claim, everything has been moving SO slowly. Today we went in because we were supposed to finally get the results of his CT scan and find out whether he needs surgery. Only to get there and find out that the imaging place never sent the results to his doctor. They literally sent us home and told us to come back tomorrow and hopefully the results would be there by then. We called the imaging place ourselves, and they basically said, “Oh yeah, we forgot to send them.”

Meanwhile, my boyfriend is on a five-pound lifting restriction. He can’t even pick up our daughter because she’s 25 pounds, and lifting anything over five pounds could make his injury significantly worse. So for the last two weeks, I’ve essentially been solo parenting. I know he wants to help, and I know he’s frustrated that he can’t, but that doesn’t make it any less exhausting.

On top of that, he works incredibly long hours in emergency services. Some nights he doesn’t get home until 3 a.m., and he’s back out the door by 7:30 in the morning. I feel like I’m doing everything, all day, every day, and I barely have a chance to catch my breath.

And because apparently that’s not enough, I’m also dealing with a whole phone situation. My brother and I are switching phone providers, but he lives in a completely different state. Somehow, my new phone ended up being shipped to his house, and he accidentally activated my phone instead of his. So now my current phone doesn’t even have service, and I’m waiting for my new phone to be shipped to me. Which means I can’t even call doctor’s offices or the imaging center to try to get things moving with my boyfriend’s claim. All I can do is FaceTime or FaceTime audio when I’m connected to Wi-Fi.

Every time I leave the house, I have to text my boyfriend beforehand and tell him where I’m going, how long I’ll be gone, and that he won’t be able to reach me because I won’t have service. Something as simple as running to the grocery store has become another thing I have to plan around. It’s just so frustrating feeling like I can’t even take care of the things I need to take care of because of one more stupid thing going wrong.

I’m just so tired. My arms hurt, my body hurts, and mentally I’m running on empty. My daughter is 25 pounds (10 months), and as much as I love holding her and being there for her, carrying a 25-pound baby around all day is no joke. I feel so alone in this right now, and I think the hardest part is that I don’t really have a choice but to keep pushing through because someone still needs me.

I love my family more than anything, but I’m struggling right now. I don’t need everything to be perfect. I just wish something would go smoothly for once. I wish I could get a break, have someone take care of me for a little bit, and not feel like absolutely everything is falling on my shoulders. I’m exhausted, overwhelmed, and honestly just needed somewhere to let it all out. I literally almost started crying at the grocery store because I’m just so burnt out

How do you make your life interesting?

Hi mamas, I'm a SAHM with a 20-mo old boy and find it mentally really hard. I'm naturally someone who needs quite a bit of mental stimulation and the repetitive days are just killing me. I go to playgroups and toddler activties 3-4 times a week but it somehow isn't enough for me. And I feel like I've lost the joy and spark I used to have pre-baby. I love him and he makes me smile every day but I'm also drained and feeling low and lonely and can't appreciate this time with him enough. Part of the problem is that we moved cities 6 months ago for my partner's job and I don't yet have any close friends and my family and old friends are far away. I just feel like my life insn't very interesting for myself at the moment.

If there's anyone who can relate or has gone through similar emotions, I'd love to hear any tricks, hacks, solutions, mental shifts you might have found to help. Thank you for reading ❤️

Worry

Does anyone else have constant guilt / worry that they’re not doing enough to interact or keep the little one entertained for the day?

Am I being reasonable?

I am with my baby all the time and my husband does help out when home but I haven’t had a day truly to myself in a while. When he’s at home with me I still clean the house and do stuff and don’t really switch off. He asked if he could play football this evening after work and I just feel resentful. I would’ve put the baby to bed and so he doesn’t need to do much but I feel like if I say no I am being controlling, which of course I don’t want to portray however, I haven’t left my house in several weeks or really had a day where I properly switch off… what I mean is when he is here, I don’t switch off as in i would LOVE a day where I don’t get asked to do this or that, or when did he last have his milk? Or has he had breakfast etc… he hardly plays football but I just feel resentful as equally work is like a break…

Going back to School

Any moms here that went to school with a newborn? How was that experience? Is it manageable?

I plan on enrolling when baby is 3 months. I won’t be going back to work when baby arrives. I plan on taking 8 units to start.

I know it will be difficult but I do have a support system that will help with baby when I attend class and do course work.
