Am I being reasonable?

I am with my baby all the time and my husband does help out when home but I haven’t had a day truly to myself in a while. When he’s at home with me I still clean the house and do stuff and don’t really switch off. He asked if he could play football this evening after work and I just feel resentful. I would’ve put the baby to bed and so he doesn’t need to do much but I feel like if I say no I am being controlling, which of course I don’t want to portray however, I haven’t left my house in several weeks or really had a day where I properly switch off… what I mean is when he is here, I don’t switch off as in i would LOVE a day where I don’t get asked to do this or that, or when did he last have his milk? Or has he had breakfast etc… he hardly plays football but I just feel resentful as equally work is like a break…

Sounds like you need to coordinate a good day off for yourself or at least times when you can get out with your friends as well

I’m going through similar things except my husband goes and plays softball every weekend . Not only am I home with baby all day and night and haven’t had any free me time he goes on the weekends after I’ve asked him to please do a half night shift with me on weekends so I can just get some rest, moral of the story it still hasn’t happened I’m not asking much . I am very resentful it’s hard not to be but to exhausted to start a fight

Use that as a negotiation point for your own “me time”. Truth is both of you need that time to remind yourselves that you are more than your role as a parent or partner. And once that me time is in place for BOTH of you then next step is to figure out how to swing some time as a couple without the kids. For me we don’t have help and can’t afford babysitters so our couple time is after the kids go to bed, even if it means sacrificing some sleep. But if you can afford a babysitter or have someone that can watch your kids maybe once a month that’s a great thing!

Showing him that you care about his needs will prevent him being resentful and stressed, and also models how you want to be cared for, and no harm in reminding him that you need the same consideration - it’s good communication! Since he came to you asking for that I say it’s a prime opportunity to have your needs seen to as well and strengthen your marriage.

Girrrrrrllll I feel you. My husband and I have had manyyyyy conversations about this, often not pleasant convos because of this. We definitely haven’t fixed it but it’s better than it was so all I can say is tell him how you feel, talk and talk and talk because resentment grows with lack of communication and one day you’ll explode and he won’t have a clue why or where it came from. Just explain how when he gets a free evening, you would also like him to use that time to ask what YOU want once in a while and whether he can look after baby so YOU can spend some quality time on yourself. It’s not selfish it’s fair but I to, have a hard time doing this because I feel controlling and resentful.

Communication is and will always be key. 🔑

The crying never stops and I'm at breaking point

Does anyone else feel like if their baby is awake their crying? Even feeding is a nightmare and he cries throughout it just taking a couple sips at a time. Doctors and health visitors say he's fine as gaining weight and just to ride it out basically but it's so difficult! I'm jealous of all the mums that can take their babies out for walks etc., I can't as he'll just cry and by the time I've finished the cycle of a nap (always contact nap), feed and finally get him to stop crying etc he wants to sleep again, it's making me feel so isolated. Are any other mums in the same boat? How do you cope?! I can't even eat for most of the day or get anything done in the house until my partner gets home as hes either sleeping on me or feeding or having a meltdown. I feel so guilty all the time and also feel robbed of the experience of these early months. I know there's probably no solution, I guess I just need a vent or not feel so alone :(

Toddler mums how are we doing?

My daughter is 17 months old and may I mention that just because she’s a girl it doesn’t make it any easier, girl or boy. Toddlers are hard work!!
I want to check in with all toddler mums because I know for a fact I’m not the only mum that’s sitting in a corner pulling their hair out 😂
Took my daughter to rhyme time today at the library and the first 15 minutes were great, she was going up to everyone and said hi, was just really happy until she wanted to escape and leave the library, it was awful. All the mums were looking at me in horror as I pick her up to take her back into the library and she screamed, scratched my face, threw a toy at my face and was hitting me with full force 🥲my child is genuinely so feral I can’t take her there anymore.
I got home and gave her a nap and then I went downstairs to just cry because it was super overwhelming, the stacks of washing that need doing, the endless tasks of needing to go back out and grab things, on top of a little madam that isn’t having her day today. All of it just got ontop of me, I handle things quite well but today it’s felt impossible.
Reality of having a little girl who is so on it, it can be so exhausting.
How has everyone else’s day gone so far? How are we coping?

Partners

Is anyone else’s husband/boyfriend terrible at soothing the baby? I keep feeling like I need to let them work it out but at the same time I can see they are both having an awful time and it’s hard not to intervene. I hate seeing baby crying and he instantly stops when I grab him, but I also know I need to let my husband learn to deal with it so it is really hard to know what to do.

Looking for childcare advice

My baby will turn 1 year in January, and I resume full-time work at 7 to 7(I will enquire about flexible working) if I can start from 8am since the childminder and nursery I have contacted starts at 7:30. My partner has flexible working already start at 10am but the downside is that he got a job very far where he has to leave early and drive. Basically, drop off and pick up,I have to be present. He works Monday to Thursday. My working days varies including both day shift and night shifts. Any advice or enlightenment is much welcome, I feel so lost, and my heart is breaking for my little one.

Breakfast ideas

What’s everyone giving their LO’s for breakfast if you’ve started weaning? We go between yoghurt and porridge with fruit at the moment, I’ve seen people say about weetabix so might add that soon.

My LG reacted to egg so that’s out of the question for now unfortunately - was planning to rely on that a lot so feeling a bit limited now so any other ideas welcome!
