Currently on antidepressants

So I was diagnosed with anxiety and depression in July this year (2026) and I was prescribed escitalopram 5mg. Then in October, I had a follow-up to see how it was working for me. I noticed that I felt less irritable and wasn’t so angry all the time but my anxiety was still pretty bad and I was feeling very restless. My dr raised my dose to 10mg and that’s what I’m on now. It’s only been 1 month since taking the 10mg and I already have another follow up appointment, BUT I don’t feel much of a difference. Has anyone experienced this and just needed time? I don’t want to bring this up and they raise it again because it’s only been 1 month. I’ve heard it’s hard to get off antidepressants so I’m worried about my dose being too high and getting side effects when I decide to get off of them. I don’t plan on being on them forever. TIA 🫶🏼

So I was on escitalopram for 4 years. I gradually upped my dose. The irritability went away, but you’ll notice that it could also mute some of your emotions and later you’ll realize maybe things you used to laugh at or enjoy might change like music and things like that, everyone is different tho. I got off of antidepressants because I felt like I sucked the emotions out although it did help in some ways I learned natural ways to navigate my anxiety and depression, it took me a long time though. It can also affect your libido so that was something I had to look at as well. Everyone is different tho! It takes like I would say 2-3 months to fully notice a difference.

It's definitely wise to give it at least 6 weeks, even up to 2 months with a dose increase that incremental. You may not notice much of a change, especially when you're talking about the absence of symptoms (I remember feeling kind of shocked when I realized I hadn't had a panic attack in several months after starting antidepressants). I used to keep a journal just to track stuff like that once I had noticed. I think the average dose for that specific medication is between 25-50mg as well so I wouldn't worry too much

Boyfriend uncomfortable with pregnancy sex

Hey! Just wanted help navigating this. Ever since we found out I'm pregnant he has not wanted sex at all. It's been a few weeks and I finally asked him and he just says that he feels weird about pregnancy sex. He says especially once the baby gets big and will be moving around. I'm only 6 weeks along and currently it doesn't look like I'm pregnant but he still seems completely turned off. I want to be respectful but also I don't want to go 9 months without any intimacy. It feels like I'm being punished and then I feel like he might go find someone else to have sex with who's not pregnant, you know? Maybe that's an irrational fear but it's making me spiral a bit.

Relationship ending while 26 weeks pregnant

Posting anonymously because I'm absolutely heartbroken and really need some support right now.

I'm 26 weeks pregnant with my first baby, due in February, and I feel like my entire world has just fallen apart.

My partner has been increasingly distant and emotionally withdrawn for months. I've spent so much of my pregnancy feeling unloved, unwanted and alone, despite us still being together, spending weekends together and planning for our baby's arrival.

I finally confronted him about how unhappy I've been, and he's admitted that although he loves me, he deeply misses his previous family life with his ex and their child - their relationship ended 5 years ago. He says he regrets losing that life, has been struggling with his feelings for months and ultimately doesn't believe he can continue our relationship.

I'm completely and utterly devastated. I love this man so much and I genuinely thought we were going to build a beautiful life together with our little boy. Instead, I'm now facing the prospect of becoming a single mum before my baby is even born.

I honestly cannot stop crying. I feel physically sick with heartbreak, and the thought that our son may never experience having both his parents together as a family absolutely destroys me. I feel like I'm grieving the future I'd imagined for us while still trying to come to terms with losing the person I love.

My living situation with family is also incredibly difficult, and I'd been planning to move in with him before the birth, so I feel completely lost about my future too.

I don't even know what advice I'm looking for. I just feel so broken, frightened and desperately sad. Has anyone else experienced heartbreak like this while pregnant? How did you find the strength to get through it? Because right now I genuinely don't know how I'm supposed to.
