I’m also running out of ideas on how to entertain my 1 years old omg. Seriously I’ve been trying to buy more different toys just to keep the little one entertained but the child gets bored fast and also reduces screen time.

Let outside be an option!! Lane only adds to the level of fun

just let them make messes of the house. obviously safety needs to be considered, but they need to entertain themselves. libraries have tons of activities and story times going on. check out 20 plus books and do 5 a day.

Tv as a last resort or if they’ve been crazy all day and I need a break from the screaming then we will cuddle on the couch while watching something.

Having a clean area for them to be able to play with toys. A decluttered area. So not 1000 toys. Just a few or an area that is easy and clean for them to be able to play on. Music and dancing. Food or water fun.

And if it’s not thundering or lighting you can still go outside. My kids love the rain and using umbrellas

It was cold and about to rain yesterday but boring inside so we decided to go outside and play with chalk lol
But if outside isn't an option we could always draw or paint or just a movie day too honestly

toy rotating - after they go to bed clean up today’s toys (fully pack them away) and get different ones out that haven’t been used in a few days. and getting out of the house is a must for errands or the library. otherwise we just listen to music and he pushes toy cars around while i do chores lol.

I started using water play, lay a towel down and give them a little bowl of ice cubes and a litttle bowl of warm water my kid liked to watch them melt, put them in his mouth, splash the water around etc. kept him preoccupied for a while

Defo get a puddle jumper. They make it possible to be outside in most weather!!

I often give my son (22 months) house hold objects to play with too. Like spoons, pots and spatulas from the kitchen. Or an Amazon box with paper inside.

Kids this age love to help, so you could try getting him to “help” with chores. We switch laundry over, sweep (swiffers are great bc you can make them kid size). I just make him my little helper. Everything takes 2x as long but he loves it

It takes time bu letting them be bored is so good

To be honest the best thing I ever invested in, was a puddle suit for our toddler and a rain suit for myself. He absolutely LOVES puddle jumping

finger painting with washable paint, or you could make your own edible paint out of ingredients you have in your house, a couple of containers with dry beans or cereal and some spoons or measuring cups for them to scoop and transfer(you could do this with just water too just place a towel down underneath), a fun rainy day craft where you make a raincloud from gluing cotton balls and rain drop cut outs to a piece of paper (place the glue for them ofc)

We don’t need to constantly entertain. Let the kids be bored. It’s great for their imagination and development.
I am currently sick so in no position to entertain and they just go read books, color by themselves or play with their toys

Nursery is costing me a fortune

I don’t even mean the fees. The last 3 weeks she’s had two lunch boxes broken and now her coat that I got last weekend is stained with paint. I get their clothes get ruined hence why I usually get bundles second hand from Vinted but i don’t know why she was painting in her coat when she has a puddle suit for outside 😩 I’m just ranting because I know kids get dirty but I can’t keep affording to keep replacing everything 😩

Am I asking too much?

My husband is unemployed (not by choice), we have a 6 year old in full day kindergarten and an almost 2 year old at home. I work full time but have a hybrid schedule - only have to go in to the office 2 days a week. So that means sometimes I am at home working, or handling household tasks while parenting the 2 year old.

When my husband is home all day with the two year old, he handles caring for her and will cook dinner.

If I work from home while he has an interview or appt, I will care for the two year old and get household chores done around the house (tidying up, doing laundry, cleaning the kitchen, organizing our daughters toys/clothes). If I’m at the office, I usually come home to a messy house, laundry to put away, etc.

When I asked him how he could help me at home, he said he didn’t know. Said he would be busy with our two year old but could clean up the kitchen. Our bedroom has been covered in laundry for weeks and I seem to be the only one that makes an effort to put it away.

Am I asking for too much when thinking he could make more of an effort multitasking work around the house while he’s with our two year old? Or Should I stop comparing women and men’s efforts with multi-tasking with children?

Food

Any advice on how to get my daughter to eat better? She has a bottle in the morning and has breakfast like an hour later. But doesn't eat much of it then she just snacks most the rest of the day. If I try to hold off in hopes she'll eat better at lunch she just cries until I give her a snack. She's only like this when we're at home. When we're out she still has snacks but is al ot more chill about it all.

Meal times

Does anyone else’s babies just launch food off their plate straight onto the floor. This was expected but I feel like it’s become a game and I don’t know how to stop it 🤣 he never ends up eating any of it, it all just ends up on the floor. Any ideas on how to overcome or is it something we will just have to ride out?🥹🤣
