Start small! Do egg omlette strips, ripe avocado slices, and things that are almost puree anyways! It gives them the ability to feed themselves more "solids" but also lets you dip your toes into see how well she will handle it!

It is definitely hard, but you just have to trust her. Babies are far more capable than we give them credit for. She’s probably going to gag as she gets used to the new textures but it gets easier as you go!

Following because I'm right there with you!

it’s scary ! i was the same way but my husband said i was feeding her enough. she is also 9m and now eats what we eat. we steamed all her food after 6m to make sure they were super soft that we could easily squish them with our fingers. we would also blend the food a little so they were in smaller pieces. now we make finger foods so she eats by herself !

I’m scared too for eggs. I do puree 4 times a day but I’m scared to give my baby eggs or peanut butter even though my pediatrician told me to feed my baby those.

To help your anxiety, I would watch a few videos on baby choking and learn the proper techniques in case of emergency. It might help put you at ease more! I’m a nurse so knowing what to do when your baby chokes is so helpful! Had to help my 9 month old a few days ago because she ate a piece of paper off the floor from her siblings crafts 🫠
But also soft foods like avocado, bananas, mashed fruits, soft eggs, all of those are great to start with!! Babies learn QUICK

I totally understand where you're coming from! Even though this was my second, I still had all of the fear and anxiety about starting solids. I love everyone's advice about starting Small and I feel like that helped me get over my anxiety too because you can see how well they can chew and handle food plus they build up their practice by starting with those mushy foods first.
smash up eggs with Greek yogurt or in tiny pieces, mashed avocado, mashed beans, bananas, other fruit you can easily smash up.

If this helps at all, my baby is almost 10 months old but by nine months old she was able to eat everything just fine except chips, and she has no teeth, I have a list of 71 as of right now different foods that she has eaten. I’m hoping to get to 100 before she’s 1, and out of those 71 only like 5 were purées

It's def scary but very necessary! They'll never learn to eat real food if they don't experience real food after all lol 😆 and they'll probably choke at some point but that's kinda part of the process sadly 😭
Aside from purees I'd recommend scrambled eggs, baby oatmeal, small pieces of fruits and veggies, mashed potatoes, beans, and rice!

My son just turned 10 months and up until the month prior, still mostly formula fed and breastfed. I am still trying to get him to eat (not taste) solids and not give a yucky face 🙃 so I think you're okay but keep trying, stay patient, consistent, and like Lauren suggested, start small 🫶🏼

My husband feels this way, but it's been a joy watching her eat and try new things. She gags every now and then, but it's normal. If you haven't had child safety classes, with cpr and choking, I'd highly recommend it. I think as a new parent we should all have those skills for just in case of emergencies. It can also ease your mind.

Someone may have said it already but you should look up videos of the difference between gagging and choking. We often see baby gagging and think they are choking and panic but gagging is a good sign that baby’s body is doing what is supposed to! I believe the saying goes, “Loud and red go ahead (gagging) but quiet and blue stop and help” or something like that. Lol Things like ripe bananas, strawberries bigger than their first, cooked peas are easy things to start with! Download the Solid Starts app. It gives visuals and age based recommendations. I would go based off the 6 month age for your little one since it’s a new skill they will be practicing.
Need to have a bit of a rant. Am I being unreasonable?
Me and my husband have a 3 month old daughter. He had a week of leave off when she was born, he was great - supportive, helped at nights, ensured there was always food to eat. Took another week of paternity leave 3 months later and treated it like his own personal holiday; went to the gym every day, cleaned his car and made sure we visited his parents.
He comes home from work and most nights goes on his phone and doesn't interact with our baby girl until bedtime, will do her nappy (if I ask him to) and doesn't help at night because 'he has work in the morning'. He heats dinner up as we meal prepped before we had our baby but that tends to be about it. During the day I tidy, clean up, do the clothes washing, walk the dog - all with a 3 month old and exclusively breastfeeding. Our original plan which I remind him is that on the weekends he will wake to do nappies then go downstairs in the morning to bottle feed so I can get another hour of sleep before we start our day. I think that happened twice.
Am I being unreasonable? Am I asking or expecting too much? Most of the time I feel like I'm solo parenting even though he is in the house living with us. I feel sad as we've been together 12 years, married 1 and when we talked about raising children I never expected to be in this position.

Just asking for advice, I’ve found a cleaner (uk England) that charges £20 she’s an independent cleaner so is not through an agency.
Very nice lady etc etc but both times she’s been here I’ve noticed she doesn’t empty the bathroom bin which I thought she would do nor cleaned the mirror and I’ve also notice she doesn’t always clean under some units in the dining room nor the bed (I understand is tricky to use the hoover in this due to the space ).
What are your thoughts? I ask her to come for 3 hours both times and both times she’s told me that 3 hours might be too much for what she’s got to do which is a general cleaning for 2 bedrooms, one bathroom, etc.
I don’t understand why if she “has spare time” why wouldn’t she perform a better cleaning.
And yes, both times she’s stayed for the 3 hours and that’s what we paid her.

I have gone Christmas decoration mad this year and my partner is going to kill me. I am so excited. Last year I had a tiny baby and now that baby is starting to understand more and I genuinely think he will love the decorating. I have an obsession with lights and I just love decorating for birthdays, Christmas etc. I have also just found out I am pregnant and Im beyond excited and feel like going overboard. Anyway my partner HATES any sort of decorating and especially hates Christmas not really sure why he just does and Ive been told absolutely NO decorations until 1st December. I have bought so much and got so many ideas in my head I just want to get started🤣 Im wondering whether I just ignore Mr Scrooge and get cracking and deal with the consequences after or whether to actually listen to him and wait 🤣. I have so many ideas for inside and outside and the Christmas decoration collection keeps growing 🙈🙈. I loved the experience of Christmas and all the decorating when I were a kid and I just really want to keep that spirit and magic alive. I also think the in laws are coming this year so want to make some effort even though they are as miserable as my partner lol. Has anyone else got any decorations up yet?

My partner just doesn’t get it. I’m with our baby all day from middle of the night feedings to all throughout the day, I look forward to him coming home so I can get some help or a break! But he’ll have our son for little bits at a time, until he hands him over to me. Saying “I think he wants his mommy” and I don’t say anything bc I feel guilty for wanting my body to myself, my alone time or just lay on the couch without my baby on me or crying for me. He’s 2 months old so we’re at the crying for everything stage, only can be put to bed by me and I’m so grateful but I’m soooo tired!!! And my partner just doesn’t know how to read the room. Ik I need to communicate this to him but at the same time I just don’t want to ask, I just want him to do things without me asking or getting to a breaking point.

I am feeling so overwhelmed that i actually feel so teary eyed. I
I am sitting in my 8 months old cot, my almost 3 year old is finally sleeping, I’ve been trying to eat my dinner since 8pm
I have no family nearby which means since I was pregnant with my toddler, it’s been constant, no break and it’s really starting to get to me
It’s so bad that I actually went through Labour and delivery alone with my second because we couldn’t find anyone to watch our toddler overnight so my husband had to stay with her while I went
I’ve been solo parenting this week and I just really really feel completely and utterly overwhelmed by it all
I’ve always thought I was handling it well but it’s all starting to get to me and I don’t know how to stop it

I’m looking for advice & opinions on practical nursing programs in general but specifically in Georgia. I want to know everything before I apply.
So if you’re a LPN(LVN), RN, etc, what can I expect? Do some programs work well for moms who have small kids? Is it all on campus or online? What about getting hands on training?
