I was on it before pregnancy but stopped when I found out I was pregnant. But I’m really struggling. My dr said it was fine to continue but something in my heart feels guilty for taking it.

Not Sertraline, but I was on Wellbutrin and Buspar throughout my pregnancy. Sertraline is one of the most highly studied medications in pregnancy and with all mental health medications much of the time the benefits outweigh any contraindications. And if your anxiety or depression isn’t being managed, it’s not good for your baby either.

I was on it while I was pregnant with my son (17 years ago) and he turned out perfectly healthy and fine. The worst thing you can do is stress while you're pregnant...... (well i take that back, the worst thing you can do is drugs while you're pregnant but stress is up there too) because the baby feels what you feel..... plus this is supposed to be a joyous time. You're creating a life! Think about how effing cool and amazing that is!!

I only started it while breastfeeding, but the research I found on it says the exposure for the baby is substantially lower after birth (relative amount is ~0.5-2% will transfer into breastmilk) if you can hang on for a few more months. But you should also consider that your doctor has probably already weighed the risks and found that your need for the sertraline is significant enough that it is worth taking against the minimal risk of exposure to the baby since unmanaged depression or anxiety will result in even higher risks to the baby (increased risk of preterm labor, low birth weight, etc.)
Personally I find that it’s really helped me connect with my baby better. I felt so distant and disconnected from her before I took the sertraline and it helps me function less in a fog which helps me care for her better. Hope that helps!

I was on sertraline and it helped immensely and baby is healthy

I took it during both pregnancies and while breastfeeding both girls for over a year each with no issue. I genuinely wouldn’t be alive without taking it while pregnant. Out of the 8 doctors I saw most said they or their wives took it during pregnancy as well

Also took it while pregnant and breastfeeding. No issues! Take care of your mental health 💖
